  1. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) Rob Deer was pretty dangerous as well Dave Kingman and Carlos Pena.
  2. Lost amid all the chaos was the ball that Rios just about ripped the cover off that landed at the base of the LF fence. CRYOGENIC LINEA!!!!!
  3. It's all good. LOL at Harrelson. Just missed another one. Great to see him going to the opposite field there.... I tell you Stone Pony, he's the most dangerous .210 hitter I've ever seen in my 75 years in baseball. 71 RBI's.
  4. Jeff Baker (32) Robinson Cano (30) - $15MM club option with a $2MM buyout Mike Fontenot (33) Orlando Hudson (35) - $8MM club option with a $2MM buyout Maicer Izturis (32) Kelly Johnson (31) Adam Kennedy (37) Jeff Keppinger (33) Jose Lopez (29) has done fairly well subbing for CLE this year Aaron Miles (36) Freddy Sanchez (35) Ryan Theriot (33) Not many good options. Kelly Johnson would be a nice get, Izturis would be a good DP partner with Ramirez. Keppinger has been a valuable performer for the Rays but not sure he's an everyday player at this stage in his career.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) I know Ackley is having a down year, but its going to take a lot more then that. Okay, let's throw in Santiago since we have no idea what to do with him. And either Mitchell or Walker.
  6. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) Myers was acquired to close down the stretch. KW has soured on Reed and is looking to package him from what I know which isn't much right now..., Speculation/theory or you actually heard this from someone with connections?
  7. Why do we have Brett Myers in our bullpen? Okay...well, maybe it's better to get some confidence back in Nate's thought process, because he might need to replace Crain again. MATT THORNTON, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GET A LH BATTER (Morneau) out. Doumit's a switch hitter who looks like Seann William Scott. Or is it William Sean Scott? Whatever, get him out.
  8. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) I proposed to my friend, who is a brewers fan, a Weeks for beckham swap. What say you, soxtalk? Richie has almost as many K's as Dunn without the power. Jemile almost makes Gordon look like a good hitter. But yeah, I'd take Richie in a heartbeat at this point.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) Inquired, which means he was possibly looking for another outfielder. I would take Ackley for Beckham and give them $2.5 million in cash.
  10. That's it. Gordon is DONE with the White Sox. He might not be traded this season, but he's not going to be starting at 2B next year.
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) I couldn't be happier. I just wish you weren't so quiet during one of his many failures. Because all young players in MLB perform instantly like Mike Trout. Baseball players fail 70-75% of the time. It would be pretty boring if we started threads every time Adam Dunn struck out. Former Sox pitcher here entering the game.
  12. I'm gonna quit you Gordon, if you don't get an RBI here.
  13. HELLO MARTY. SHOULD HAVE PH JUAN PIERRE THERE FOR TANKS. Saved/contributed 3 runs tonight.
  14. Escobar, please don't make an error at 3B tonight. Should be bases loaded, no outs.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) And they don't care. That play, folks, could cost us the postseason. What a HORRID call. Well, in all likelihood, Robertson doesn't walk Youkilis there with the distraction of both managers coming out and talking to the umps. If we do lose, it will give Harrelson material for the rest of the week.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) That made an incredible sound off the bat Gunshot. That makes the effort by Nathan Jones loom even larger. Don't stop now, boys!
  17. Maybe that bad call got everyone in the dugout fired up, lol.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:17 PM) He will figure it out. You guys sound as if you think Beckham and other young hitters aren't trying to work on their weaknesses We've been saying this for 4 years now. I heard the same thing about Brian Anderson, Josh Fields and Joe Borchard. Never happened. Isn't Gordon's career average at USCF in the .220's? That's just not acceptable for a doubles hitter.
  19. 8-6 against the Twins and Royals this season is not going to cut it. Should be 10-4 or 9-5 at worst.
  20. Poor Ozzie. 10 years from now, that new stadium will be the centerpiece of the MLB Latin American International Training Academy... And the Marlins will be playing in another city.
  21. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Beckham isn't the only hitting problem, Tank needs to start hitting as well a 290 OBP, totally sucks. Except Viciedo has a league average OPS in LF at age 23. 729 Beckham's in his fourth season of professional baseball and is nearly 100 points worse. Only 4 2B are worse than him in OPS....Weeks, Weeks, Andino and Dustin Ackley. 642
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) Sale got crushed on Saturday cause he missed his spots. Just takes one or two. The slider to Austin Jackson. This time, Quintana just doesn't have enough velocity unless he's 3-5 inches inside. The first homer was even worse, that was right over the heart of the plate. This time, it seemed like he was guessing that exact location.
  23. Beckham should just do hair commercials with Brian Anderson, aka The Greatest American Hero. And stay in the bedroom with his g/f while enjoying his initial signing bonus.
  24. At least the Orioles are losing. Buchholz is shutting out the Rangers so far, not an easy thing to do. Pirates taking on a huge salary commitment there in Rodriguez.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Boy the Twins stink. That shoulda been an easy DP. Span doesn't have the best arm. Better than Pierre, by a notch or two.
