  1. Big story of this game, besides Viciedo, Rios and Dunn raking and Keppinger continue to suck eggs is that Axelrod really limited the damage in the first three innings and gutted through with a typical bulldog performance on guile and guts. Konerko in the low 170's now over the last 17 games. Not seeing the ball, doesn't trust himself right now. What a mess he's in. Can't waste this opportunity.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:48 PM) Not able to watch the game, blocked at work, but I saw Dunn's homer and now he doubled to the same spot opposite field again. He is rolling right now and this is when he is at his best. Only if the next time up he pop bunts a double down the LF line.
  3. Well....Dunn hitting quite a few balls now to the opposite field. Late slide into 2nd. Good timing or he would have been out. Huge difference 2nd/3rd, no outs, and 3rd with one out. Seems like it will take weeks for Dunn to get back to .200. Now at .151. At least he passed by Hick again, who's at .145.
  4. Farmer going on and on about "Searching for Sasquatch," even knows the characters... DJ prefers Croc Hunters and Swamp People shows, lol. Think I prefer the Twins' radio feed. Swarzak warming. Rios up to .295 again after slumping. 3/3.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) Or that Axelrod resembles just about every pitcher the Twins have had for the last 4 years outside of Liriano. He's our version of Slowey/Blackburn, just better, haha.
  6. Twins' announcers now bemoaning the fact they don't have a prototypical leadoff hitter like Rickey Henderson, lol. Well, Revere and Span weren't bad at all, but they got too expensive...and they also felt Hicks had more potential, but, this one game against the Sox notwithstanding, seems he was rushed a bit and might eventually go down to AAA.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:33 PM) Yes, but he doesn't explain why the team with guys he can't understand why the team signed and with pitchers who have nothing to get you out, happen to be winning the game. Yes, in general, he's just quiet/silent and lets the dead airtime tell the story when he's frustrated. He does tend to be more talkative and analytical than Harrelson, preferring to look for actual mechanical reasons other than the umpires or conspiracies.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) Bert Blyleven tells it like it is, at least regarding Twins opponents. It was their radio guys. Don't have the t.v. feed with Bremer (assume he's still the guy) and Circle Jerk Bert. And yeah, Blyleven's very objective compared to most home announcers, equally so about the Twins.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Still a few years away from that making much of a difference. Hopefully Tank learns to stay off high fastballs. He'd be a monster. Or breaking stuff off the plate (see Uribe/Ramirez/Beckham).
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) Anyone else nervous that Tanks agent is Bor-ASS come contract extension time? If he earns it, the White Sox have no problem paying their own players. Look what they did with Ramirez.
  11. Best opposite field power since Roberto Clemente/Miguel Cabrera. Waiting for Harrelson commentary about how the ball just jumps off his bat, lol. But yeah, whoever said Rios is our only above-average hitter, okay... "They signed this guy (Keppinger) to a three-year deal, and I just don't get it." Twins' announcers
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) I think it's very telling Hawk has made zero excuses for Keppinger. I think he is silently questioning his effort. Plus Hawk loves Beckham...you can tell he's counting down the days until Gordon's back. And Gillaspie is our best story of the season so far, along with the pitching (Reed, Santiago, Axelrod)...and Dayan's past week, haha.
  13. The interesting thing is that Dunn's homering a lot more than 2011....8 (should be 9) versus 11 for the whole year, but average is still down 15 points. Astros have come back to take the lead against DET, but not ready to believe the Astros can actually beat them yet. Scherzer hasn't been the same Cy Young caliber pitcher since he was injured late last season. Miracle that this game is still tied continues...for now. Baserunners stranded right and left every inning. Seems that Axelrod feeds on everyone doubting him.
  14. Three balls past Keppinger. Didn't dive once. Twins' announcers questioning his effort. Definitely questioning his range.
  15. Tom Kelly had an interesting solution for Dunn's hitting problems. Have him bunt for 30 minutes...no swings, just practice tracking the ball. They were just saying how he doesn't seem to take his BP bunts seriously at all (they usually do 3-5 to start a rotation)....then he goes yard, lol. 421 feet???? Viciedo's ball was only 5 feet longer? NO WAY. Dayan's was like 475-485.
  16. Last in runs, runs scored, RISP...slugging percentage, etc. At least Rios is still hitting (building up his trade value!) There's an immense difference between 1 game behind the Tigers (at this same time last year) and 7 games back.
  17. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 15, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) Escobar is batting over 300. He is far from an average hitter. Career-wise. At least with the White Sox, where we excel in producing position players. Especially Latin Americans, lol.
  18. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 15, 2013 -> 11:52 AM) There's a handful of pitchers in Charlotte that I would rather have in the majors than Deunte Heath. That's pretty much about as interesting as the Danks/Wise issue. Problem #14 and #15 with this team.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 15, 2013 -> 11:21 AM) How...? Don't have any idea. Am using a VPN/proxy, even.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 15, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) DA has nothing today and the Angels are hitting the ball again. What's wrong with Dick Allen's posts?
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) I was sitting right behind first base Saturday night. The throw Greene made on his error, TV did not give justice. There have been many plays I have watched on TV and wondered why the firstbaseman didn't at least stop the ball. This replay would have suggested that, however, the throw was so far wide and bad, if Dunn were a foot taller and as athletic as Michael Jordan, he had zero chance. Did he hit Knoblauch's mom in the stands?
  22. That was actually only Escobar's 2nd career homer. But, against the White Sox now....6 for 16, HR, 5 RBI's. OUCH.
  23. Of course. Pretty fitting. We'd be a lot better off with Escobar than Keppinger, lol.
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 15, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Why do we continue to play Keppinger? Contracts. Greene's defensive issues at 2B. Sooner or later, they'll have no choice, but then, Beckham will be back in about 2 weeks so it won't matter.
