Sox (11-21) vs Mariners (15-17) 5/6 @ 9:10 CSN
Thornton was 94-96 on the M's gun. Olivo was 1/6 with a homer lifetime against Thornton coming into that AB.

Cubs with ONE good decision the last 2-3 years, getting that cancer off their team. Signing Castro, not so bad either. Well, Matt pitched out of it. Olivo expanded the strike zone for him with those high FB's.

QUOTE (Real @ May 6, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) Mariners gonna walk this one off, you can book that s***! Not if they score in the bottom of the 8th, lol.

Didn't realize Thornton had a .341 BAA. How is that even possible? Juan Pierre doesn't explain more than 1/3rd of that.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 6, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) Way to blow that, White Sox. See we are playing with fire. "Most" teams that play at home, uh, use that home half of the inning to their advantage. They either scorer here and close us out or score in bottom of ninth. How could Lexi not hit a f***ing fly ball???? How??? That's one thing Uribe or Crede did well, put the ball up into the air in those situations. He hit the ball hard. It's not as easy as one would think to lift a ball into the OF against Felix when he's bearing down.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) Contact play, it wasn't his fault, its the chance you take. The Mariners' announcers are definitely blaming it on Beckham, FWIW. We'll have to wait until after the game and maybe we'll get an explanation from Guillen or Gordon.

Funny shot of AJ next to Beckham and smirking at him. Very helpful, Pierzynski.

Beckham giveth, Beckham taketh away. Of course.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) He can't hit or field. We have the worst 3B situation in the game right now. Even if you combined Vizquel, Teahen and Morel into ONE player, they would still be a below average amalgamation.

Oh My Lady Gaga!!! Beckham turned on an inside fastball. Maybe the timing mechanism and clearing his hips is working. Don't fu-- up this sacrifice, Pierre. Jesus.

Idiotic "Punto" headfirst dive never works, only slows you down. But it's grinderish and inspirational.

Thornton in the 7th? This is a new one.

He's happily married, fat, has a good sense of humor and will make $15 million off JR. Why would he be upset with that? Not a bad life.

At least Rios is starting to hit some balls with authority now. Unfortunately, Dunn, AJ, Teahen and Beckham also suck.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Hawk is so pissed at Ozzie right now. It must be nice to have a job and not worry about getting fired, even if you're doing a worse job than Osama Bin Laden's courier. He at least was the only one to get shots off. The White Sox have bullets and they're not even being chambered or fired.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) That terrible decision is working out just fine. It's called moving runners into scoring position which can in itself chance a batter's approach as he faces an RBI situation. Of course it matters not to Sox hitters who this season fail whether runners are in scoring position or not. It was a very good decision to bunt. Ummm, no. How would AJ possibly throw out Ichiro stealing? I think even Pierre could probably have at least a 75% success ratio against AJ and our pitching staff.

What did I say? Jesus, Ozzie. Cust doesn't have a homer all season long yet. Smoak's only hitting .362 with a 1.146 OPS the last 17 games. Scouting, White Sox???

Good bit of hitting by Bradley. Not a normal swing on a 2-0 count. Can't fault Humber for a bat pitch at all.

Uh-oh. Just don't let Smoak beat you. Intentional walk would be better than going at him.

Well, there's no way anyone could have hit that pitch to Paulie, even though it was hanging a little high. Unless you were just sitting on it, but it would have been total luck to guess that pitch in that location. Felix is getting a ton of pitches that are well off the corners for strikes.

That's the second person Alexei's hurt this week. One with a foul ball, this time with a bat off the cameraman's head.

Beckham ugliness continues. Well, he hit one ball sort of hard foul. At least Pierre hasn't given up on this season yet. Sizzles (for him) his 2nd double of the season down the RF line.

How many former 1st round draft picks (pitchers) from other organizations have we recycled through our system? It's got to be in the high teens or twenties under Cooper and KW. Just some guesses.... Aardsma Sisco MacDougal Thornton Danks Floyd Humber Peavy Van Benschoten Marquez Garland

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) Rios average down to .181. Hey, that's 20 points better than where it was previously. Progress!!! Dunn's the one who MIGHT need a lot of help to get to .180 at the rate things are going.
