  1. That's simply his WIKI entry...and what they (the collective community, not me) chose to include about his background.
  2. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44785878/red-sox-walker-buehler-stays-hotel-prior-early-patriots-day-start
  3. Just depends on if those acquiring (one would assume contending) teams believe his future lies in relief. Ofc his agent and McKenzie need to consider first if he can actually make it as a starter with diminished stuff.
  4. Could always go with David Justice...one of the most mis understood players of that generation.
  5. Gavin Lux top 50 mlb for ops...800+ coming into tonight's action.
  6. White Sox current starting pitching options: Vasil or Bryse Wilson returning to starting...will take 2-3 weeks to stretch out, would be used an openers Iriarte or Nastrini or Owen White Clevinger (see above, about stretching him out at AAA) Justin Dunn (not currently on 40 man roster)
  7. McKenzie opened the 2025 season in the bullpen. The Guards surely hoped that he could either find his footing as a reliever or pitch his way back into consideration for a starting role. Neither has happened. While McKenzie’s velocity is back up to an average of 93.7 mph on his heater, that’s likely due to him working in short-relief stints as opposed to being asked to face a lineup two to three times per outing. He’s pitched only 5 2/3 innings this season and been clobbered for seven runs. Command is still a glaring issue; he’s served up seven hits (including a homer), walked seven of his 30 opponents (23.3%) and already been charged with three wild pitches. McKenzie has only set down four batters on strikes. Any team to claim McKenzie or acquire him via trade will at this point be rolling the dice on a reclamation project. McKenzie hasn’t worked more than 1 2/3 innings in a single appearance this season, so he’s also not presently stretched out enough to join someone’s rotation even if they want to take a look at him as a starter. He could be built back up on the fly, but that’s a tough task when already asking a player to switch teams and go through all the inherent, associated changes (learning new coaches and catchers, making tweaks to delivery and pitch selection, etc.). The Guardians can trade McKenzie or place him on outright waivers at any point in the next five days. Waivers themselves are a 48-hour process, meaning his DFA will be resolved within a week’s time at most. He’s earning $1.95MM this season. An acquiring club would be on the hook for about $1.69MM as of this writing (or a bit less depending on when he’s claimed/traded). He’s controllable for two additional seasons beyond the current campaign. www.mlbtraderumors.com 50/50 the White Sox or Rockies take a look at him. Chase Dollander has been struggling out of the gate with COL and might need to be sent to the minors relatively soon. Can see the White Sox offering a player/s in trade, rather than agreeing to take on the entire $1.7 million contract.
  8. Ishbia was raised in a Jewish family in Birmingham, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.[4] He graduated with a B.A. from Michigan State University and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law.[5] After school, he worked as an attorney.[5] He is a founding partner in the Chicago-based private equity firm, Shore Capital Partners.[5] He also has a 22% stake in United Wholesale Mortgage, HQ'ed in Pontiac, MICH. So basically two choices for him, DET metro area or Chicago, which one would you choose? Since Vanderbilt gives him ties to Nashville...you could certainly argue on behalf of an eventual Nashville move, but that would require the same amount of "self-financing" on the part of the brothers, as the State of Tennessee declared they were "tapped out" after all the public monies that went into the Titans' facility. That would probably require him to agree to cooperate with the Dave Stewart/TLR "cabal" as well, and I just don't see that happening...but who knows? One thing's for sure, that the NFL and SEC rules the roost in that part of the country.
  9. There's always going to be an intrinsic bias against Midwest kids as well...because they don't get nearly as much national exposure compared to the guys on the Coasts, SEC/ACC/Big12, Florida, CAL, Texas, etc. Sure, there's a Jeter here and a Kelenic there, but it's still fairly rare.
  10. Jeral Perez...4 homers at least
  11. White Sox: RHP Shane Smith Smith was the top pick in the 2024 Rule 5 Draft and really a testament to the entire White Sox organization for researching and selecting the right player. Through his first three starts, the right-hander had allowed the fourth-lowest batting average against offspeed pitches at .094 (3-for-32) and while he had walked seven, did not give up more than two earned runs in any of those three starts. It’s very early but the 25-year-old looks to be a burgeoning part of this rotation and rebuild moving forward. -- Scott Merkin https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-newcomer-impressions-for-each-team-2025 Also, write-ups on Austin Hays and Gavin Sheets, among others...
  12. Of course, playing for Terry Francona and joining an exciting young/aggressive team with Elly de la Cruz as the centerpiece probably played a large role as well. The White Sox/Rockies/Marlins are always going to be the very last choice for any FA these days. What would be more interesting would be recordings of all those agents' phones when Getz called expressing an interest on behalf of the White Sox, what the most common responses/replies are to these queries.
  13. Just hire Carlos Pena off ESPN...Beane's not even working specifically in baseball in his new role with John Henry/Fenway Sports Group.
  14. You still have this issue where St Louis is considered a small market...along with Oakland, but the White Sox are not, even though they're likely getting the lowest payouts from local RSN. Either the White Sox SD Cleveland or Minnesota. Feels pretty arbitrary/capricious.
  15. Lol. I'm not in turmoil. The fanbase...front office and pitching staff is. Getz won't survive another full season of this complete ineptitude. He just won't. Not when almost every single decision he makes is the wrong one. It was the same with Hahn at the end. Even if you can theoretically defend a process...if the results are just not there, it's sayonara.
  16. You can always pick up guys like Sheets and Gurriel for nothing... For JD Martinez...he's already made so much money that pickleball won out over $3-4 million a team like the White Sox.
  17. So what's the point of just constantly moving around deck chairs on the Titanic? There's nobody other than Teel/Quero and Braden Montgomery that look close to long-term answers. That leaves SEVEN open positions.
  18. Which is precisely why they will continue to be a 100+ loss team...
  19. Not much of a future with four catchers ahead of him on the depth chart...three much younger.
  20. Too excited about 2013, Boston Strong, Big Papi, interviewing J.Gomes and going on about the Boston Marathon.
  21. That fizzled out relatively quickly...
  22. Has always hit well at Fenway....tailored for his stroke. That's why I just wanted to flip him and Yoshida with subsidy/additional money coming White Sox way.
  23. You can't have a 6 era and be considered an indispensable rotation member unless you're on the White Sox or Rockies...his actual ERA is in the 4's but going along with your individual game performance analogy in the post.
  24. Crowing that there are a handful of objectively worse veteran/journeymen 1B than Vaughn is hardly a feather in Getz's cap. Rizzo or JR Martinez could show up off the street and outproduce him starting tmrw.
  25. Sosa is just not going to fit a 1B profile offensively...unless it's the worst team in baseball as your standard for offensive production.
