  1. https://www.espn.com.sg/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/5185140/year/2024/category/pitching The only thing I can think of at the moment is that Iriarte DIDN'T pitch against Minnesota once last season...but that's a pretty sketchy theory about choosing between Nastrini and Iriarte. https://www.espn.com.sg/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/4422905/year/2024/category/pitching Going through Nastrini's record, he managed to pitch against TOR twice but never faced the Twins, either. So that leaves the fact that it's probably closer to Iriarte's natural turn in the rotation...would have to double check that, but it's whatever at this point.
  2. B.Montgomery has all the tools except blazing speed, and he has a 60 arm, yes? And he's clearly fast/rangy enough to play CF in A ball, which is a big positive (so far). See where Bonemer's mostly ranked at 55 for arm and 50 for fielding...well, we shall see. It would be nice to actually have a SS capable of playing on both sides of the ball for once. Power is not the question, but the actual consistency of the hit tool and/or contact. Personally, I would have some reservations about Teel AND Quero simply because nobody can catch more than 100-120 games per year (at least post steroids), so that's going to hurt some of their positional value as catchers if they're sharing time there and at 1B/DH. It's not the biggest problem in the world to have, but not ideal either. As I've said a number of times, High A is really going to be the question for Bonemer...how well he responds there. I think the White Sox might keep him at Kanny at least until the June All-Star Break, but they might push him even harder than that. Time will tell...we shall see.
  3. Just saw this at CBSsports.com on their upcoming games schedule... TUE Ober/Martin WED Festa/Iriarte THUR P.Lopez/S.Smith MLB.com still has it as TBA on WED. Any confirmation? That's a VERY interesting move, considering how poorly he has pitched recently. As others have noted, they might be hesitant about using a Dunn (arguably the most consistent Knights' starter so far) if they're not currently on the 40 man roster, leaving the decision between Iriarte and White, who just got blasted in his last start for Charlotte after coming into the game with a sub 2.00 ERA. One thing is for sure, Minnesota's pissed after getting swept by the Braves and blowing a late 4-1 lead in one particularly-frustrating loss.
  4. Because if Montgomery and Teel aren't absolute studs, this rebuild is in SERIOUS trouble...before even getting properly started.
  5. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2021/4/24/22401491/white-sox-lucas-giolito-tony-la-russa-rangers-red-sox-tigers-liam-hendriks&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwj6s86HjuiMAxXw5skDHfz_LDUQFnoECAQQAg&usg=AOvVaw3p4KfgnCiC0vxMoQb6F12y Four short years since the Patriots' Day debacle started by Giolito...who would have thought that just four years later that Lucas and Garrett Crochet would have been traded for players like Quero and Meidroth that would lead the White Sox to a 3-3 season series tie entering Monday. That Cam Booser and Massachusetts natives Burke Vasil and Shane Smith would all play key roles as well? Baseball is strange. Nevertheless, we're now still just one game ahead of Colorado for worst record in the majors. At least there's currently about as much consternation in Boston as in Baltimore...
  6. Let's hope Martin Perez can come back from this current setback or the lack of starting depth down to the Big 3 starters in AAA is going to be terribly exposed...
  7. “When you want to do something so bad, it gets harder to do. We can’t worry about what happened last week or what happened yesterday,” Baldelli preached after the Atlanta Braves finished off their sweep of the Twins on Sunday. “You can’t play the game worried. You can’t play the game concerned you didn’t get it done the last time. This is a forward-looking game.” “Frustration can build sometimes. I can’t say that’s why we’re not getting it done … but this series, we didn’t have any balls find any grass when we needed it,” Baldelli said, citing the Twins’ 10 baserunners but zero run-scoring hits behind them Sunday. “Listen, this has not been an easy go of it by any means, and we’re going to have to continue to fight offensively, to find ourselves and work through it, to figure it out.” https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-twins-atlanta-braves-rocco-baldelli-justin-topa-opener-christian-vazquez-14-pitch-at-bat/601335234
  8. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/atlanta-braves-face-19-million-140000785.html Speaking of the Braves, facing an additional $19 million tax hit due to their status as being owned by a public company and new inability to shield "highest executive salaries" from the IRS.
  9. He's about a broken down Jose Abreu statistically at this point...minus the bigger salary, I guess.
  10. When were the White Sox ever in Nashville? After they left Vancouver...I hardly remember it, always think of them as the AA/Southern League team, whereas the White Sox had Birmingham for ages. The biggest factor was saving money by having all the minor league teams in the Carolinas/Virginia area...at one point even Bristol in the Appalachian League. Yeah, it was 1993-1997...when they were the White Sox AAA affiliate and Birmingham was the Southern League (Michael Jordan/Francona years).
  11. ATLANTA -- Ronald Acuna Jr. watched with interest when Jarred Kelenic was thrown out at second base after failing to hustle out of the batter's box on a long drive in the Atlanta Braves' 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night. Acuna went to social media to criticize the way manager Brian Snitker handled the situation. Acuna, recovering from surgery after tearing his left ACL last May, replied to a post on X by MLB.com reporter Mark Bowman on Sunday when Bowman was asked whether Snitker had commented on Kelenic. Bowman posted that Snitker "protected Kelenic by replying: 'Was I supposed to' when asked if he had said anything to Kelenic." Acuna replied to Bowman's post, "If it were me, they would take me out of the game." The response by Acuna was removed about one hour later. espn.com
  12. Sox not already doing unintentional comedy...?
  13. Bellino drawing ire of both dugouts
  14. Teel's start at least is quite salvageable. Montgomery has a LONG ways still to get back to respectable numbers.
  15. we only "warned" him about this for pretty much the entire offseason...his best possible effort was to get back Amaya on waivers?
  16. Bonemer being ranked ahead of Braden and Teel doesn't seem like a very good thing...has to do it at Winston-Salem before he really rockets in rankings.
  17. Surely Disney is lined up for the movie rights...will there be any White Sox fans left by then?
  18. Well, another of what will be the six worst teams in baseball by the end of the season...reassuring.
  19. 7-14 with Drury Dalbec Julks Elko Lipcius your best hitters doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
  20. Are you trying to get the Knights to finish with a lower winning pct that the Sox...? AAA Knights down 12-1.
  21. 5 bean balls in two days...
  22. Unintentional intentional walk to avoid Devers. Or the opposite.
  23. Burke 7.36 ERA and that's with 3 unearned runs today.
  24. Houck only gave up 12/10 ER last week... Venable going with defense first today, except Taylor. But must play Vargas everyday.
