  2. Dairy Queen nationally as well...
  3. The true sign is succeeding with guys outside the first round...and we don't even do that well (first rounders). Robert and Jimenez were two of the most highly sought after Latin American talents in the past decade...hard to say even those were clear wins right now with how their careers have turned out.
  4. Might depend on who pitches for Boston...
  5. Because all the Dodgers posters asserted those two guys were "decent" prospects but not dynamic athletes...that they were packing in?across the board carrying tools that would translate into fWAR or bWAR at the major league level. And that neither was going to end up a major league SS, but instead 2B/3B.
  6. Okay, Jeral Perez...over 600 at-bats, his MiLB numbers would indicate a roughly 27 HR hitter over 600 at-bats. Based on his start to 2025, you're talking 41 at this pace, 3 every 44 at-bats. 20 years old. Prospects TLDR: Perez is a stocky 2B/3B prospect without a ton of physical projection. Some aspects of his hit tool are good (he's short to the ball, contact is top-hand driven), while others are bad (he lacks great barrel control), and his defense is also a mixed bag. Scouting Report. 2025. Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 50 | Run: 45 | Arm: 50 | Field: 45 | Overall: 40. After signing with the Dodgers for $397,500 out of ... Let's hope he's the next Jose Ramirez (well, minus punching out White Sox players, lol)
  7. 25. Guaranteed Rate Field — Chicago, IL Woof. It’s the worst ballpark in active service in the majors, but getting to it is easy. The Chicago White Sox fans are long-suffering but generally quite kind. Imagine you went to the dentist, but somehow, there was a baseball game happening. That analogy best describes the physical sensation of going to Guaranteed Rate Field. The Dodgers mercifully do not visit Guaranteed Rate Field in 2025. Pros: You get what you pay for. A stadium with a dedicated public transit stop does deserve some praise. Cons: Just about everything else. The stadium is a decaying, unloved monument to Jerry Reinsdorf’s greed. I have never experienced such apathy radiating from a place. https://www.truebluela.com/2025/4/17/24120766/dodgers-stadium-guide-ranking-2025-elizondo-adric Don't be fooled...they only ranked 26 stadiums, total, and The Oakland Coliseum was #26, which doesn't exist any longer as an MLB ballpark.
  8. To be fair, they were the #15 payroll team in 2023 (roughly $180 million), and entered 2024 theoretically competing: 19, White Sox, $117,773,333 ; 20, Royals, $105,219,570 ; 21, Nationals, $95,371,429 ; 22, Tigers, $95,073,933. Obviously now they're all the way down to 29th, barely ahead of the Marlins...at least until they dump Luis Robert, although the Marlins might also be trading Alcantara, so it's a close overall race for the very bottom. (One could actually argue the Rockies have the worst situation, overall, because they have the most competitive division in baseball, all things considered.)
  9. It's ON!!! WestEddy vs. SoxTalk Board vs. Dan Hayes Conveniently enough, we play at Minnesota early next week.
  10. Would have been MUCH MUCH better off if we 1) traded Robert for a haul after 2023, and 2) didn't sign Benintendi, but hindsight is always 20/20 ofc. Really, it's just scarier to think that they ACTUALLY believed they were entering 2024 with a team that could actually compete in the AL Central.
  11. Sure why not...but not the type of hitter to put up eye popping power numbers.
  12. https://www.milb.com/player/joe-perez-669309 3B, 2nd round pick of the Astros (pick #53 back in 2018 out of high school in FL), turning 26 this year...made it up for ONE major league at-bat so far in his career
  13. Martin Perez (1-0, 1.59 ERA) going tmrw night against TBA...50/50 Red Sox prospect Hunter Dobbins will be recalled from Worcester. SAT 3:10 Rematch of Shane Smith vs. Garrett Crochet SUN 12:35 Tanner Houck (gave up 12 runs in his last start) against Sean Burke MON 10:10 AM Walker Buehler against Jonathan Cannon (Lucas Giolito Nightmare Patriots' Day Massacre Game) SOX @ Twins (TUES through THURS) SOX @ A's/Sacramento (FRI through SUN)
  14. Anything can happen in a playoff, as Rose has already learned the hard way at Augusta. Just one loose approach shot and you're dead. It's not like he even played the 18th poorly, McIlroy just hit an incredible shot with all the pressure on the world on him. Rose was basically playing with "house money" having made up a 7 shot lead. Roughly 75% of the time, you'd expect that would be enough for Rose to win with where things stood approaching the last two holes, Rose in the clubhouse and Rory tied with him.
  15. Knights trying to outdo the White Sox parent club...have now lost 8 consecutive games.
  16. You're just providing MORE ammunition for JR never to sign ANY player for over $75 million, lol... Although how the Machado deal has worked out for SD isn't exactly one of them right now. Not yet at least.
  17. https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/suns-owner-mat-ishbia-expects-stephen-a-smith-to-apologize-for-calling-him-one-of-the-worst-owners-in-nba-history-015433021.html Engaging with Stephen A. Smith is kind of pointless for a billionaire (isn't a "deca" billionaire, over $10 billion?) to get riled up over something like this. Obviously he didn't enjoy being painted with the same brush as a Donald Sterling or Sarver, the previous Suns' owner who went through some ugly sexual harassment/discrimination issues before basically being forced out. If anything, it should provide more incentive to get out of his current quagmire they're experiencing...as Durant will be leaving and they'll have to reboot the entire franchise. But Smith’s comments comparing him to the worst of the worst owners didn’t sit right with Ishbia. As for the Sterling comparison, Ishbia doesn't think that will stand for much longer.
  18. With the worst record in Major League Baseball, the Colorado Rockies are making a change that they hope can provide a jolt to a lifeless offense. Hitting coach Hensley "Bam Bam" Meulens was fired on Thursday and was replaced by former Rockies manager Clint Hurdle, who had been a special assistant to the general manager. At 3-15, Colorado has the fourth-worst team batting average in the National League (.220) and third-worst team OPS (.629). The Rockies have the second-most strikeouts in MLB at 195, are tied for the second-fewest home runs with 12, and rank last in the majors with 52 runs scored. Meulens was in his third year as Rockies hitting coach, hired before the 2023 season. Last season, the Rockies' .242 team batting average and .704 OPS were the worst in franchise history. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/mlb-worst-rockies-fire-hitting-coach-hensley-meulens-name-former-manager-clint-hurdle-interim-replacement-001506534.html Rockies fire their hitting coach after 3-15 start
  19. And the weird thing here is he got off to a REALLY strong start to the season in his first week or so of games. It's a lot different from what Colson has been going through, which was struggling from Game 1.
  20. He was the only hitter for the Sox against the A's, basically. 6 base hits. But his defense will ALWAYS be a liability wherever he plays, unless he just concentrates on one singular position and practices it relentlessly like Alex Gordon in LF for the Royals when he shifted from 3B. It also requires coaching, like a Ron Washington or Rusty Kuntz who will push Sosa beyond what he think he's capable. If he's only a 675-700 hitter, that's good enough for a bad/horrific White Sox team, but his defense will knock his fWAR down into the 0.5-1.5 range in all probability.
  21. Balta made this exact same argument repeatedly about Hahn...especially after they bypassed his decision to hire AJ Hinch and went with TLR instead. Ofc, making $500-750,000 or whatever his salary with the White Sox is pretty significant, family-future altering money if he can collect it for another 2-3-4 seasons. He might not get another GM job in his lifetime with 2 of the 5 worst teams of all-time (125 years) of MLB history on his resume, regardless of the circumstances he inherited from Hahn and JR (budget-wise).
  22. Now Teel is really in a funk. 2/2 in k's. .190 Elko, meanwhile, couldn't be any hotter. Nashville kind enough to score just one run every inning so far. 4-0
  23. He might legitimately be the only one (on the position player side)...if we don't mess him up somehow along the way. Teel or Colson continue to be the best "second" choices for that.
  24. You can always watch Jankowski, Drury and Dalbec at Charlotte. And "maybe" Clevinger, or has he officially broken all ties with the Sox and moved on?
  25. Agree 100% with those sentiments...bring on more national embarrassment. Basically, make WestEddy capitulate... "Mired in mediocrity" would/could easily be the apex of this rebuild if there's insufficient FA spending on the position player side. But at least we get to watch Jac Caglionone terrorize the AL Central for 7 seasons, lol.
