Mike Clevinger is back lol
Lack of certainly about Thorpe's health?? Wilson and Perez at GRF are complete crapshoots. Even Martin and Cannon aren't close to sure things. Add it all up and you have an emergency band aid in case everything goes wrong with the rotation...along with Iriarte Adams Nastrini Carela Eder etc. Have to get to at least 50 wins...although surely 60 would be preferred but seems highly highly unlikely. 54.5-107.5 sounds about right.

Time for more important spring talking points... “Just not as tight of shoes, because I usually tie them up pretty tight. Letting them go a little looser.” Benintendi’s shoelaces are in the best shape of their lives! Per James Fegan's spring training notes. Now we know it wasn't the wrist/hamate for the first 1 1/2 seasons of his contract.

“Sure, it’s part of the consideration because it has been associated with Clev,” Getz said. “With that being said, we’ve been around Clev for the last couple of years. I know how he is respected with his teammates and everyone in the clubhouse. Also, we’ve learned more about the situation and we are comfortable with it.” The problem is that White Sox fans have also watched ‘Clev’ be around for the last couple years — barely in 2024 — and have seen no visible reward, whether in terms of team performance or trade value. There wasn’t a market for him when he was functional, and then he wasn’t functional, so there isn’t a reason to think that a third consecutive make-good contract will turn out any different from the first two." https://soxmachine.com/2025/02/the-white-sox-still-cant-quit-mike-clevinger/ There's also a funny line about basically losing 20 more games than the previous season for every Clevinger Year...heading for 21-141. Also, Getz is not doing himself any favors. Even if Clevinger is the All Star rep as a closer... And Fegan, as usual, still has a sense of humor about this at least... BRANDON DRURY, ANDREW BENINTENDI AND JOEY GALLO ALL SEEKING THEIR OWN BRAND OF BOUNCEBACKS Posted on February 21, 2025 | By James Fegan | 17 Comments Three players over 30 are all trying to launch renaissance seasons with the White Sox, and this piece doesn’t even mention Mike Clevinger!

Sox fall from 26th to 28th, Yahoo Sports org under 26 power rankings
30. Chicago White Sox "Win average: 54.2 (Last: 62.5, 29th) In the playoffs: 0.0% (Last: 0.5%) Champions: 0.0% (Last 0.0%) Expectation: Fewer losses. Reality: The White Sox will lose fewer games, so by that low bar, the season is sure to be a success. Chicago is nowhere near turning this thing back in the right direction. In fact, they aren't finished offloading veterans, with Luis Robert Jr. a near certainty to go at the very least. No team should (or even could) be as bad as the White Sox were last season. But once you're there, you might as well stay the course because no amount of Jerry Reinsdorf's money would turn this thing around quickly. Think of it like this: The biggest year-over-year improvement during the expansion era (since 1961) was Arizona's leap from an expansion year 65 wins to 100 the season after. If the White Sox matched that improvement, they'd still go 76-86." https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/43904999/mlb-2025-stock-watch-ranking-spring-training-offseason-expectation-reality

Pivetta to Padres...
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/02/details-on-nick-pivettas-contract-with-padres.html Yesterday, Ronald Blum of the Associated Press provided some new details that had not been previously reported. "The new details revolve around contingencies for the Padres if Pivetta gets injured. Pivetta’s $14MM salary in 2027 becomes a club option “if at any point through 2026 he has a specified injury or surgery related to the injury and is on the injured list for more than 130 consecutive days in any season or in a one-year period.” Blum mentions that Pivetta spent time on the injured list in 2024 due to a right elbow flexor strain, implying that the contract provision relates to a significant elbow surgery."

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
"The end of ESPN’s relationship with Major League Baseball is not limited to television. ESPN Radio will no longer carry national Major League Baseball after this season, ending its 27-year run as the exclusive national radio parter of MLB. The last national MLB game that was not carried by ESPN Radio was Game 7 of the 1997 World Series, which was broadcast by CBS Radio. While ESPN Radio does not attract as much attention as the flagship ESPN TV network, the radio contract has given the company a presence at every World Series and MLB All-Star Game dating back to 1998." https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2025/02/espn-mlb-split-includes-radio-streaming/

Mike Clevinger is back lol
KEY POINT “Because people are are talking about this (the Clevinger-Pogofsky relationship) as established fact, it needs to be pointed out that is a completely unsubstantiated Twitter rumor from an unverified source, propagated by individuals with an axe to grind. A Twitter use who advocates for Olivia Finestead (Clevinger’s ex who accused him of abuse during their custody battle) posted a screenshot she claimed that Finestead had received from an anonymous texter, which related a story the texter claimed to have heard (they didn’t even claim to have witnessed it firsthand). So for all of this to be true, we are assuming not only that all of the parties involved— the Twitter user, Finestead, and the anonymous texter— are all acting in good faith; we are also assuming the anonymous texter actually got the story correct and isn’t just misinformed. Sure, it’s entirely possible that it’s true, but there’s absolutely no way to know. It’s pure gossip at this point. Bernstein and Holmes always rep themselves as actual journalists; and the fact that they keep hinting at this rumor on-air and leaving breadcrumbs for their listeners just shows how low they’ll sink when it suits their narrative.”
