  1. Montgomery blown away on a FB. 5 k's already out of Steele. Going to have to get used to inept offense yet again.
  2. Tauchman Vargas Drury k'd. Robert opposite field single...Thaiss swinging bunt to no avail.
  3. "Absolute truth here. I had a dream last night, something about being in the s%*# business. A way of maximizing profits was to start offering s%*# sandwiches. It was important they be wrapped in wax paper, just like when I was a kid. Also, they needed to be cut in half diagonally. I wasn’t sure if they should be made with smashed patties or a spread. I think this dream popped up because of reading about the Clevinger signing before going to bed. The Ishbia move may be much ado about nothing, but at least it provides a basis for hope. It is the opposite of a s%*# sandwich." A bit coarse, but this SoxMachine commenter hits upon the sentiments of most. Hope is eternal. That trace even mere figment of hope felt completely lost recently.
  4. No to Guerrero because no guarantee he keeps up his production as he ages...then all of his value has to come from his offense. $340-400 million for that future uncertainty? No way. Dylan Cease haha? Bo Bichette, Kyle Schwarber, Luis Arraez, Marcell Ozuna, JP Realmuto and Eugenio Suárez are some of the other notable position players in this class. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/top-10-mlb-free-agents-for-2025-26-offseason-vladimir-guerrero-jr-leads-list-plus-contract-predictions/&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjO8c-OvdeLAxXdL9AFHRXWA_EQFnoECAsQAg&usg=AOvVaw050X5aMPxEyZOsKsoOZmzY
  5. https://www.cougarboard.com/board/message.html?id=34772995 Matt Ishbia has totally mismanaged the team. The Bradley Beal ... CougarBoard 2025年2月7日 — I like Beal as a player but definitely not at $55M per for the next 2 yrs with a no trade clause. ManicBlue. Feb 7, 1:02pm
  6. “The move to free Suns games on TV tells me a lot about his long term goals of moving the Suns into the more large-market category. Emphasis on long term. It would have been easy to just sit and rake in the profits, a lot of owners do that. Worst ones go full Moneyball. He wants to expand the business even if it means taking a hit in the short term.” By and large, a lot more positive than negative comments here. The ugly Bradley Beal situation proves that Matt Ishbia's reckless spending ruined the Suns As soon as Ishbia came on board in Phoenix, he made a commitment to spending. A few months later, they traded for Kevin Durant, and the following summer, they made a move for Beal. At first glance, this was great. Ishbia was the type of guy who was willing to spend to make the team better. That’s the type of owner that every organization wants, right? Wrong. Ishbia was so eager to flash his cash in hopes of improvement that he (and James Jones) ignored every other important aspect of building a basketball team. And now, they are paying the price for it. https://valleyofthesuns.com/phoenix-suns-bradley-beal-situation-proves-matt-ishbia-ruined-team-jimmy-butler-nba-trade-rumors-no-trade-clause-reckless-spending
  7. "Does having a huge payroll really increase my chances that much of winning the championship?" Steinbrenner said. "I'm not sure there's a strong correlation there. Having said that, we're the New York Yankees, we know what our fans expect. We're always going to be one of the highest in payroll. That's not going to change. And it certainly didn't change this year." In the wild-card era (since 1995), 21 of the 30 teams to win the World Series ranked in the top 10 in Opening Day payroll. However, just three teams since 2009, the year the Yankees claimed their last championship, have won the World Series ranked in the top three in payroll: The 2018 Boston Red Sox (first in the majors), 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers (second) and 2024 Dodgers (third). https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/43955690/hal-steinbrenner-no-edict-spend-less-yankees-payroll
  8. Number of conference championships won by Cleveland Cavaliers Cleveland Cavaliers have 5 Eastern conference titles to their name. The Cavaliers maiden title came in 2007 by defeating the Detroit Pistons and their last title came in 2018 by defeating the Celtics in a 7 game series. LeBron James was part of both the teams and led them to all five of their conference wins in their history. Cavaliers defeated the Celtics after being 0-2 down and this was Celtics’ first defeat after being 2-0 up (40-1) record. LeBron averaged 35.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 7.6 assists after going 0-2 down and annihilating the Boston Celtics.
  9. Wouldn’t you know how to spell your supposed cousin’s last name correctly, then?
  10. Tucker... Dave Stewart seems to be out of the Nashville group as he's now back with the A's as well. Short term...they're looking at something similar to the Guardians, quite limited payroll and spending. "You can find one potential roadmap in the Guardians adding a successor to their ownership group in David Blitzer. He reportedly purchased 25 to 30 percent of the team with the intent to take the reins from Paul Dolan in five years. Blitzer’s presence hasn’t changed the mode of operation in Cleveland thus far, as FanGraphs estimates the Guardians’ 2025 payroll at $100 million, which would be down from $104 million last year. The White Sox front office is similarly constrained by a revenue situation currently viewed as grim, but rescue from that situation is a ways off in any scenario." If Melody Hobson (and her reported 30-40% position in shares) doesn't want to sell...and they're (Hobson/Ishbias) racing each other for controlling status after JR dies...well, that would be an intriguing twist but highly unlikely. United Wholesale Mortgage stories are making Ishbias look like Steve Mnuchin on steroids…leave it to the Sox to end up with even worse owners lol. https://www.reddit.com/r/IshbiasItchUWM/ Mat's Menagerie- Where myself and others expose Mat's holdings, corporate structure, investors, and other things. The Enablers- Research on the people that support Mat and who he protects. This will all roll out as much as time allows, however this effort has expanded considerably (thanks nameless ones). So don't worry Stans, I'm still churning out your precious TPS reports and not spending "all my time on this". Rules- Not many. Free Debate and discussions. Both are things UWM and Mat hate. Fire up whatever topic you want within reason. Keep it mostly civil and legal. No hate or violence. I'll shoot you a message if something is a tad out of line. 11. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6152097/2025/02/21/justin-ishbia-out-minnesota-twins-sale/ The one sticking point thus far — along with the need for league approval whenever the deal is ready — as Scott Reifert responded to Greenberg — that the deal will allow Ishbia to take control of the team at some point by buying the shares of longtime owner Jerry Reinsdorf and other partners” — is also referenced in Dan Hayes’ corresponding article about what this means for the Twins. Whether there is truly a dispute about long-term implications or the White Sox merely wish to announce the transition on their own terms, the Reinsdorf family had been taking a growing ownership stake of the team as recently as 2021. https://soxmachine.com/2025/02/justin-ishbia-in-line-to-buy-twins-increasing-minority-stake-in-white-sox-instead/
  12. You're looking at let's say $75-100 million in long term capital gains taxes on his reported 15-20% share. I valued those controlling shares at $500 million....putting the actual purchase price at around $2.3 billion...which is a $300-500 million premium over what the team's actually worth with their diminished media rights and cloudy future stadium resolution factored in. If we're holding up the sale on that relatively paltry amount in taxes...the Ishbias won't want to wait 3-5 more years to get control. and will make a bigger bid to cover the difference. Plus they've already watched the sale price of the TWolves go in the wrong direction for Glen Taylor to such a degree (and so quickly) that he tried to scuttle his deal with ARod and Lore to no avail.
  13. This is Sparta!!! Don't like MSU...just dislike Hahn and now Getz even more. Plus Spartans fit blue collar lunch pail mddle class ethos/stereotype of team much better than Wolverines.
  14. Can SoxTalk get an interview with Melody Hobson?...at least she would be able to clearly and analytically provide some clarification of where things stand.
  15. Not Boyer...his mouthpiece Reifert. White Sox VP of communications Scott Reifert pushed back against that notion. “White Sox limited partners have received an offer from a third party to purchase their shares in the team, providing liquidity for the limited partners on their long-term investment in the club,” he told Greenberg. “This offer to limited partners has no impact on the leadership or operations of the Chicago White Sox and does not provide a path to control.”
  16. In 2023, the Ishbia brothers bought a majority stake in the NBA's Phoenix Suns and WNBA's Phoenix Mercury in a deal that valued the teams at a record $4 billion. Justin serves as alternate governor of the Suns, Mercury and Major League Soccer's Nashville SC, in which he owns a minority stake Justin individually worth over $5 billion. https://www.forbes.com/profile/justin-ishbia/
  17. Does this mean we can dump Clevinger now lol?
  18. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6150455/2025/02/21/white-sox-twins-justin-ishbia-jerry-reinsdorf/ Twins' fans panicking a bit. ARod and partner deal will now take over the Wolves with Glen Taylor pivoting to baseball? NBA Board of Governors still has to approve A-Rod/Lore for ownership in MN...then 84 year old Taylor having the patience with a baseball team that can't really turn on a dime??? Ofc the Bradley Beal deal in Phoenix is already a major black mark against Ishbia.
  19. Now the biggest question after a sale has to be the ongoing stadium issue....
  20. Melody Hobson/Lucas share close to 35-40%???
  21. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/02/poll-will-the-red-sox-extend-garrett-crochet-this-spring.html 65% think Crochet/Red Sox extension isn't done before the season starts....
  22. Hard to argue with that logic. And party opportunities uniquely available in Chicagoland. Seekingarrangement.com etc.
  23. Lack of certainly about Thorpe's health?? Wilson and Perez at GRF are complete crapshoots. Even Martin and Cannon aren't close to sure things. Add it all up and you have an emergency band aid in case everything goes wrong with the rotation...along with Iriarte Adams Nastrini Carela Eder etc. Have to get to at least 50 wins...although surely 60 would be preferred but seems highly highly unlikely. 54.5-107.5 sounds about right.
  24. All the ex-Padres...
