  1. Calls to mind the dispute KW had with Rauch after he left a poor start early...or Stone?
  2. Ramos third, Meidroth at SS and Gray the dort of interesting names....Gallo finally getting into a game, as well as Narvaez. Can't say I'd love to pay good money to watch this one...was actually hoping for more Colson or Braden.
  3. Thought it was going to be about Bush and Berroa...
  4. This also isn't ethnic cleaning or genocide. People have all kinds of different things they're looking for out of sports. Some are just looking for entertainment/diversion...others connect the team to the past or time spent with family and friends. I guarantee the mood will pick up significantly if there's legitimately going to be some type of clarity forthcoming and a success ion time table provided. Ambiguity/uncertainty/lack of clarity...diminished hope and frustration lead to dark humor reflecting cold inexoranble reality, simply because 41-121 is such a ridiculously bad performance for a non expansion team. But the reason sites like WSI are no more is because posters felt like they were constrained in expressing opinions and had to suppress negative thoughts for performative fandom just to please the mods. Now we've swung over to the other side of the pendulum where even the most optimistic posters have become "Jaded and cynical" in their 30s and 40s. And for lots of good reasons...hoping and trusting in the franchise has left them constantly disappointed and feeling lied to or misled. Those fans wouldn't be happy with even the consensus #1 farm system if it never led to more than a .500 record. In that sense, it's much easier to be a Doubting Thomas than a "true believer" because it's simply self-protection...we've simply seen it way too many times since the early 1980's.
  5. For every 500-1000 Kelenics...there are just a handful of generational talents to impact the game to the extent that both those guys did...with both power and speed. That puts so much pressure on the bat to play if you can't handle CF or RF. There are obviously anomalies out there....like Stephen Kwan, but they are few and far between.
  6. If it's not true at all the Score and various other Chicago sports talk shows were way out in front of their skis...a peremptory search turns up quite a bit. If they (sons) were simply picking up 5-10% more for the Reinsdorf Family...how would that be a significant outside investment? Wouldn't it be easier for her to put them to bed by denying ever had an interest in the Sox? Is there another team in baseball where 50%+ of shares are controlled by someone NOT the #1 share holder??? After the valuation slide from #8/9 In MLB all the way down to #17/18?
  7. What stuck out to both players was the vibe at Fenway South, even for a Spring Training game. “Just having some good fan turnout helped a lot,” Crochet said. “That's probably the most people I've thrown in front of in Spring Training so it's cool to kind of get the juices going early.” mlb.com 4 k's in debut 1 2/3 ip, bb, spring debut
  8. Then there was Garrett Crochet, the blossoming ace acquired for four prospects at the Winter Meetings. The lefty was overpowering in the first inning, striking out the side. He lost some command in the second and finished his day with a walk and four punchouts over 1 2/3 innings. What stuck out to both players was the vibe at Fenway South, even for a Spring Training game. “Just having some good fan turnout helped a lot,” Crochet said. “That's probably the most people I've thrown in front of in Spring Training so it's cool to kind of get the juices going early.” mlb.com Looks like Max Stassi has a pretty good shot to make the Giants...Murphy is hurt, would be paired with Patrick Bailey
  9. Carela throws about as hard as Thorpe...definitely a finesse guy. Taylor was the stand out. Jac Caglianone hit a massive bomb. Julks was highlight on offense but struggled with the sun/wall on defense like Colas the day before.
  10. Lance Lynn as closer, lol? Whit Merrifield still on the market...someone will definitely sign JD Martinez, pretty soon. Same with Rizzo. Funny that Grossman, Pillar (just signed with TEX) and Jose Abreu were all on this particular list. Grandal, too. Gibson, Quintana, Spencer Turnbull the last "name" pitchers to go before the before bottom/dregs. Jose Iglesias the one that I wanted to sign all along for SS, but seems they're determined to run Colson out there OD. Even then, would have preferred him to Josh Rojas. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2025/02/15-big-name-mlb-free-agents-spring-training
  11. https://www.justbaseball.com/mlb/top-ten-remaining-free-agent-relievers/ At least half of these guys have already signed in the last couple of weeks....and no way with Kimbrel after what happened in 2021, but there HAS to be a fit here somewhere with ONE of these guys.
  12. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/43983416/rangers-add-kevin-pillar-lose-prospect-alejandro-rosario-elbow-injury Rangers add Pillar...lose #56 pitching prospect to possible elbow injury
  13. "Reinsdorf has given his blessing to Ishbia’s plan to buy out other minority partners, the New York Times reported Friday, but the team denied that any long-term agreement has been reached to give the brothers a controlling interest. For the Twins, Ishbia’s decision removes one potential bidder from the process, which the Pohlad family, which has owned the Twins since 1984, initiated in October. The franchise is believed to be worth at least $1.5 billion, but no other potential bidders have been publicly identified." startribune.com/sports
  14. (James Fegan/Sox Machine) PHOENIX — Since we have a robust comment section, the negative fan reaction to the White Sox bringing back Mike Clevinger on a minor league deal doesn’t need to be theorized, just observed. As a result, it does make asking Chris Getz if he weighed the inevitable blow-back of the move fairly straightforward. The comfort is not just stated, but shown, because the language around Clevinger is not of a star-level contributor that is worth taking a public relations hit for, but rather someone getting a chance to prove they’ve still got something. Executives and coaches usually public state their confidence that a pitcher can stick as a starter until the last possible moment. But in this case, the possibility of Clevinger converting to relief began to sound more like the accepted plan by the time Getz and Will Venable were done talking. “It’ll be great to see what it looks like in a shortened role and see how he bounces back and responds,” Venable said. “We hope that there’s something there that we can use.” (my own comment: usually not great for guys with two TJS in their past, especially back-to-backs, see Kendall Graveman's and Joe Kelly's struggles with this as well) “The stuff was there,” said Getz, who said Clevinger shared his pitch data with them in addition to holding a throwing session for scouts. “We are open minded in terms of role. I know he is as well. I’ve always had a little bit of a curiosity of what it could look like in a bullpen role. He’s someone that wants a look and we are willing to give him one.” https://soxmachine.com/2025/02/the-answer-to-the-requisite-mike-clevinger-question-and-other-white-sox-notes/
  15. No pitching injuries...knock on wood.
  16. The illusion of stadium leverage...all vestiges are gone. Other than the hope and promise of new higher-spending ownership delivering a better product on the field. Whoever it is...they're going to have to put in at least 50-65% of the money. At least.
  17. They are really going to just call it RATE Field? That's even worse, somehow.
  18. No wonder Orioles didn't keep him.
  19. DeLoach had a ball drop in front of him in no man's land...short RCF. Sigh. Picked off a runner. One out, runner on third.
  20. Double high off fence...more troubles in LF from Julks. Colas yesterday. Tie game...2nd 3rd still no outs.
  21. Bullpen threatening to blow this one...sounds familiar. Katz out.
  22. of course...revenge for not picking him 92-93 isn't going to work. 115.4 exit velo on that one wow
  23. Quero hits into a DP. KC plays "Mesa A's" tmrw...they won't be called the Sacramento or LV A's apparently...but just The Athletics lol.
  24. 5,567 attendance for KC. Beck Way kind of a cool name. Chandler Champlaign two other two parts of Benintendi from KC to NY trade mid season 2022. Also TJ Sickema. Almost did face Benintendi lol. Braden Montgomery walks. Cal Mitchell stole second prior to that.
