  1. Teoscar isn’t exactly in the price range of the Sox.
  2. Majority are former members of the 2023 roster. Churning churning churning.
  3. Feels like I just went to a car lot or annuities salesman...hopefully Getz knows how to properly evaluate these guys. It's like the opposite of those years when Sox had Top Ten guys like a Keenyn Walker or a Latin American catcher who never made the majors filling column space for 2-3 consecutive years...since someone had to be there for Phil Rogers.
  4. The best solution for those guys was getting out of Dodge...Alex Call played the majority of last season for the Nats and was hovering around a 1 fWAR before falling off. Santos and Shaw were the only two relievers that really stood out. And Mickey Adolfo at least looked like a body builder...so credit to Getz again?
  5. Except that will only get you the likes of a Bader or Michael Taylor type.
  6. Mets will have a longer timeline than two years.
  7. Manaea/Montas/Clevinger definitely one tier down due to a variety of issues. Giolito and Stroman also tarnished. It's Snell/Montgomery............Imanaga, then a big drop down. Some teams are also putting Yariel Rodriguez pretty darned high up there, the Sox, not so much, seeing his ceiling as a reliever. Then you've got Bieber/Burnes...MAYBE.
  8. https://www.yahoo.com/news/nba-approves-sale-dallas-mavericks-170305061.html Cuban will be the alternate governor with a 27% stake in the club and will maintain control of basketball operations. He made it clear there were no plans for the franchise to leave Dallas. “The advantage is what can you build and where and you need to have somebody who’s really, really good at that,” Cuban said before the Mavs' game against Cleveland on Wednesday night. “Patrick (Dumont) and Miriam (Adelson), they’re the best in the world at what they do. Literally, around the world. “When you get a world-class partner who can come in and grow your revenue base and you’re not dependent on things that you were in the past, that’s a huge win,” Cuban said. Miriam Adelson is the controlling shareholder of Las Vegas Sands Corp., a publicly traded Las Vegas company that built the Venetian and Palazzo resorts but now only has casino operations in Macau and Singapore. Sheldon Adelson, the founder of Las Vegas Sands, died in 2021 at age 87. Cuban said when he bought the Mavericks in 2000, he had the advantage of understanding technology. He became a billionaire when the radio internet streaming company he co-founded was bought by Yahoo. Now, the future of media rights deals is in question. Diamond Sports, the company that owns the regional sports network that carries the Mavericks, is in bankruptcy proceedings. Cuban said the sale makes revenue from media rights deals much less of a concern for the Mavericks. “Financially, we’re in a far better position this afternoon than we were yesterday afternoon to be able to compete like that,” Cuban said.
  9. It's not like they were so obsessed with character guys last off-season (see Clevinger), but it's probably part of the new Getz-branded "Royalsization" of the Sox. Ironic, in that Chapman was transformed into the Royals' 2nd or 3rd most valuable asset down the stretch in Cole Ragans.
  10. DeJong was solid in 2019, but always more of a "complementary" glue type of player than a stud/star.
  11. As long as they can stay around $200 million or less....depends on expected revenue from t.v. rights/advertising as well.
  12. The first time he adds a potential 3 fWAR player, we can all celebrate. Not counting on Fedde just yet. It's not exactly like there were 8-10 teams in on Maldonado and Hill.
  13. What's the going prices for Getz and Grifol, lol?
  14. When's the last time Baltimore was even actively linked to Cease by a nationally-accredited source?
  15. Too much combined apathy and acceptance for that...
  16. Paid off for Dayton Moore so well it finally got him launched. He did have Witt Jr. and Singer at least.
  17. Rodon ironically has one great season after being given up for dead...but then nothing in return to show for it. Hendriks and Anderson as well. It's actually pretty darned remarkable. Basically, Grandal Kimbrel Keuchel Lynn Benintendi Pollock all fell apart completely. The anti-Orioles. They even made the right call on Abreu. Didn't really matter, because they're just wasting money again churning through the roster paying lip service to competing when most Royals fans are just scoffing at our so-called plan to emulate a niche model a decade too late. Watch the watch Sox manage to finish last in stolen bases, though.
  18. Herrera still out there, again. Wade Davis or Greg Holland?
  19. Milk and cookies team on the deck. Need Mike Sweeney in some type of advisory/leadership role but will be outbid by KC.
  20. Would rather watch Takatsu. Other than Fedde and no Sal Perez...one of the most predictable and disappointing offseason in ages. One of the many reasons Padres were 9-23 in one run games and one maybe one extra inning game win the entire season. That was with Hader at the back end. Must have zero confidence in Crochet or Banks. So this is the solution lol.
  21. Yet they didn't bring back Shaw...who deserved it more than anyone.
  22. “But at the end of the day we felt we needed more depth with a guy like Martin Maldonado, who is one of the elite catch-and-throw guys in the league. We think his power still has some potential as well. His power numbers increased in the second half last year (2018). We like that. We really like the fact he can shut down a running game and give our pitchers a lot of confidence.” Quote from Dayton Moore on the 33 year-old Maldonado coming to replace injured Sal Perez prior to 2019. Hilarious ChatGPT article https://bvmsports.com/2023/12/28/martin-maldonado-from-kc-royals-to-chicago-white-sox/ The signing of Martín Maldonado and the pattern of former Royals personnel joining the White Sox highlight the interconnectedness of teams in Major League Baseball and the impact of personnel movements on team dynamics and culture. By the Numbers Martín Maldonado signs a one-year $4 million contract with a 2025 vesting option worth an equal amount At least eight former Royals, including Chris Getz and Pedro Grifol, are part of the Chicago White Sox organization State of Play Martín Maldonado joins a growing list of former KC Royals personnel who have moved to the White Sox The interconnectedness of teams and the influence of personnel moves on team dynamics is evident Pedro Grifol's first season as the manager of the White Sox did not produce desired results, which may impact the decision on his future
