GMs skeptical teams meet price for Robert
Paying the Boras Price for a contract extension for Robert simply is never going to happen...especially when JR doesn't believe he's anything close to a $175-225 million player. But look at how much they've saved on Giolito, Tim Anderson, Reynaldo, Rodon and Kopech extensions!!!!!

Wilson down, Leasure back
The cynical reading is that they're trying to claw back a year of control. How can he be an important member of one of the top 50% (at least) teams in baseball but he's NOT good enough to beat out Kuhl and Justin Anderson, one THE WORST team in baseball, lol? Imagine how aggravating that must feel...to not feel wanted or valued by these clowns, especially the GM and manager?

Cease To Padres per Passan
Except Mayo and Basallo would be worth MORE to other teams than BALT, as neither one of those guys are going to be able to play their natural defensive positions.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Orioles need some balance to their rotation being too RHP-heavy. Irvin to the bullpen, Povich struggling mightily, Means obviously injured. Not a lot of balance there.

Robert "Top Priority" for Philly
Marsh, Rojas, Stott their bottom 3...Robert would replace Rojas. Castellanos a down season at 93 OPS+. Even Sosa has been really strong, even. OFC, three of those horses are on the IL right now.

Fedde named All Star snub at Yahoo Sports
Tatis, Jr. Oops...wrong league. There's ONE spot going to a snub...so SD somehow got Merrill instead (two All-Stars in consecutive years that switched from SS to RF/CF, and Profar of course started out at SS/2B.) It's actually funny now how Marcus Semien has almost become almost an automatic selection, when his statistics aren't overwhelming at all. The toughest part by far is just getting that first selection. He's now coasting on that reputation from those pretty sure it's 3 times he's been in the MVP conversation. At any rate, the more Fedde articles out there, and higher his perceived value will be to SOMEONE. If it's not Crochet/Fedde, the top of the current market is Flaherty, with the Mets likely pulling back there veteran starters to chase a WC in the NL, where they're currently the first team out of the running.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Mateo and Mullins are the most glaring offensive weaknesses right now on the O's roster. McCann, back-up catcher, but there are very few "above average" back-ups around the sport. Burnes' FIP is 3.36, well more than one run higher than his actual ERA. Same with Suarez, 2.48 vs. 3.55. Irvin/Kremer are/were both below average. Kimbrel with a 180 ERA plus and 2.47 FIP, versus a 2.10 ERA. There's just no way in hell I'm going to trust that guy in the actual post-season after his last 5-6 years of results. Povich has been bad, too. It's inconceivable that O's pitching without reinforcements is going to hold up at these numbers for 2 1/2 more months of the season.

The Tampa Plant High product has evolved into a college baseball rock star, getting flooded with autograph requests on the road during postgame walks to the team bus. It happened again during UF’s last regular-season series at Georgia, and Jac's level of popularity rather amuses Gators coach Kevin O’Sullivan. “All the wives and mothers [in the UF program] call him Gaston from Beauty and the Beast,” said O’Sullivan. “Look, everybody respects the limelight he’s under. I have no idea the amount of pressure he’s under day in and day out. “There were Georgia fans in droves outside of our bus wanting his autograph. I’m not saying it’s [Tim] Tebow-like, but it’s a different thing what he goes through every day.” Florida's Jac Caglianone is closest thing college baseball has to Shohei Ohtani (jacksonville.com) Seems a bit like a Bryce Harper type with lots of steak and "sizzle" in one package...the type of guy who rubs a lot the wrong way, just like Gaston if you know your Beauty and the Beast, lol. Actually think the White Sox need some more guys like that with unshakeable confidence in themselves...and anti-Vaughn, so to speak.- Cease To Padres per Passan
Grayson is all about STUFF and POTENTIAL right now...he's been a solid fantasy pick-up, but his reputation is bigger than his actual results at this point in his young career.- Cease To Padres per Passan
The ask for Jones was more the priority in the offseason...now he's almost become overrated and falling almost universally in prospect relisting/s, just like Colson Montgomery will by Sept/Oct if he doesn't pull out of his funk...and uncertainty about his eventual defensive position NOT being SS. The best pitcher on the market THIS deadline is worth more than a 70-80 prospect with the 2 1/2 years of control. The Orioles will end up doing enough to get them to the finish line in 1st place, which means someone more like a patch for the back end of the rotation to hold everything together. You guys can have Trevor Bauer, for free, almost. Or Flexen. Someone to just kill innings and keep the offense in games at least 2/3rd's of the time, that's enough. If Flaherty is #3, the White Sox definitely will be sitting in the driver's seat with options 1 (All-Star and...) All Star snub Fedde. You can read the write-upon on him in another thread here at SoxTalk. Or maybe just spend a ton of money to eat most of Scherzer's remaining salary. Montas, Severino, etc. Although the Mets might no longer be selling all their vets right now, that works out once again in favor of the White Sox to have one less team selling. In fact, with the logjam in the NL WC race, this might be the fewest sellers (or standing pat) in recent memory.- Path to .500 in 2025
Tankathon | 2025 MLB Draft Order & Lottery Simulator I'm not sure what's more depressing...being the A's and NOT being able to pick next year until #11, or the White Sox having far and away the worst team in baseball by a full 6 games "over" Miami and Colorado. Sad. The old lottery pick can't be in two consecutive years in a row provision. Double whammy.- Elias didn't shutdown trade of Holliday
Westburg was the "forgotten" Orioles' prospect, along with Ortiz and Norby, coming into the offseason. There's probably 2-3 others in the outfield beyond Cowser/Kjerstad/Bradfield/Beavers. He's not suddenly going to be valued as a "stud" unless he can sustain this for the entire season, and even Beckham and Viciedo had four good/strong months in their rookie campaigns. Buyers would have been investing in fool's gold at that point. It looked like Jordan didn't even have an infield spot before the Holliday debacle in his first go-round.- Elias didn't shutdown trade of Holliday
Now there's even a little bit of a question about Rodriguez's health (not long term), they're going to have to explore adding at least one more hitter.- 2025 Old Sock Drawer
You basically foreshadowed his walkoff against Kopech into being, lol...2/10 before that at-bat. “I think in that scenario, [my mindset is that] the last four at-bats don’t mean anything. Just try to win as many pitches as you can.” Burger said. “I was fortunate to get a pitch I could do something with.” Burger’s home run came off reliever Michael Kopech, someone Burger knows well from his time in Chicago. [Kopech] is an awesome pitcher and an awesome person,” the third baseman said. “Him and I spent a lot of time rehabbing together. Obviously it’s a cool moment, but it’s also [against] a good friend.” While Burger’s hit will soak all the attention, this series featured other notable storylines Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miami-marlins/article289772759.html#storylink=cpy Read more at: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miami-marlins/article289772759.html#storylink=cpy- 2025 Old Sock Drawer

Besides Kyle Hendricks??- Fedde named All Star snub at Yahoo Sports
Erick Fedde SP - CWS - #20 2024 SEASON 106.1 IP 3.13 ERA 1.13 WHIP 94 K 28 BB It might be a stretch for the worst team in baseball to get multiple All-Stars, but I think Fedde deserves it. His successful sojourn to the KBO to reestablish his credibility as a starting pitcher after a failed tenure in Washington is one of the best stories of the season, and his cutter has become one of the more effective pitches of any individual offering in the game. If the White Sox don’t end up trading Crochet, Fedde should fetch them a nice return in a deadline deal- Cease To Padres per Passan
And how many are confident in him starting a playoff game, exactly? Burnes hasn't been the Cy Young contender version of previous years, either. Now I just want Robert on NY LAD or Philly to put the Orioles in their place, lol. They're no longer a small market team either...but the Padres of the East. Finally Sox fans are starting to like local product Wolkow over Spencer Jones. Or Dominguez.- Robert "Top Priority" for Philly
