  1. Black Jack McDowell is driving?
  2. No way the payroll will be closer to $200 million than $100. We're not the free spending Royals. Haha could spend up to that market on the bullpen alone and guarantee absolutely nothing.
  3. On the other hand, they DON'T trade him and he gets hurt...they're going to get almost nothing in return for him if he's out for all of 2025 and even part of 2026. In that situation, the White Sox will lose almost all control over how he's used as Free Agency becomes his one and only concern. He would want to pitch in 2026, but probably not before the trade deadline, as he would be more concerned demonstrating to other teams he's close to 100% and has his max velocity back. Let's just say there will probably be a difference of opinion over how much he will pitch in June/July. (Of course, if he doesn't have more than let's say 80 innings pitched, that's obviously going to work against him once again.) Very complicated situation with many factors to consider, both the ball club's and Crochet/his family Another major injury would give an average shelf life of 4 1/2 more seasons remaining after a second TJS/revision. He might not get the preferred five year deal in that scenario, but it will at least be 3 and maybe 4 seasons.
  4. Wood Abrams Gore Hassell and another pitcher on the periphery of Top 100 say hello.
  5. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40494287/2024-mlb-draft-outsiders-mock-prospect-superteams
  6. Have you noticed how few impact bats that can field at GG level are out there right now? 24:$12.5M, 25:$15M, 26:$20M club option ($2M buyout). 27:$20M club option ($2M buyout) Benintendi gets 75% of that…lol. The going price for superstars is $25 million and up.
  7. Would rather have 2-3 studs than the old “be we got five guys for Rafael Palmeiro!!!” except the bust rate can’t be that high for your top two assets. Eventually, at any rate, the Dodgers Phillies and Yankees are going to force private equity/venture capital to fight….or they risk turning into the Chiefs of the 80s and 90s. Basallo not even a sure thing at catcher…would also need Mayo AND anyone remaining not named Cowser OR Kjerstad.
  8. Back to relieving feels more likely to lead to another injury. 15 teams in on him. At least. Fedde must be at least 10-12. Would likely throw Kopech into trade to assist with 2024 as well. Yes Hays OHearn Santander Mullins all on the way out. Will have to figure out how to fit Kjerstad (dh), Cowser, Westburg, Holliday, Henderson, Adley, Mayo, Basallo…and the second tier guys like Beavers and Bradfield. Win now move for LAD Orioles Padres Seattle…would be Luis Robert Jr. with 2 1/2 years remaining of control.
  9. Holliday is the next Yoan Moncada. Just kidding. Sox fans will attempt to convince Os fans they will lose the second tier of the farm if they try to hold onto all of them…or that they will age out as legit prospects. Or that Mayo/Basallo could go to the Sox. Seems like Baltimore might be kicking the tires on Luis Robert Jr. as well.
  10. Fedde is on a lot of want lists. Back to arguing about Kjerstad, Norby, Beavers, Bradfield, etc. No doubt White Sox looking for outfielder/s.
  11. That might be a better take than Planet of Apes as second worst movie of all time. I only know Vampire facials cosmetic skin care procedures. Will have to report on any more free agents in the KBO next Thurs…and makes a suggestion they add KPop-influenced dugout cheerleaders for the last two months of the season. Most famous dance team…plays out of Incheon. 39 year old captain/fitness trainer oldest in the KBO.
  12. Well, most teams pretty much write off the "value added" part of anything on the back half of a contract like that. Right now, the investment has directly and indirectly led to 3 playoff series wins in 2020 and 2022 (yes, Tatis was out that year) as well as helped in the recruitment of Machado/Bogaerts (not exactly a good thing right now)...and and now represents an All-Star/GG caliber RFer. (Jackson Merrill has managed to make the same conversion from SS to CF, an even more difficult position because you're responsible for captaining the entire outfield at age 20/21.) SD has also had attendance in the Top 3-4 in baseball the last couple of seasons, despite the massive budget cutbacks. Obviously Seidler's death and the RSN debacle/forced payroll cuts have both slowed momentum. In the end, "star/great" players with risky contracts are usually the cost of competing for the top franchises in the sport. That's just the way it has always been, and always will be. At any rate...their fans KNEW that Seidler was desperate to do anything to give them another World Series team...he wore his heart on his sleeve, and authorized some unorthodox management of a top tier farm system (some of those trades blew up in Preller's face...hurting the team long-term for short term competitiveness.) Honestly, they're playing better without Tatis in this recent stretch, just like in 2022. I would have said last year that 9/10 times they would have lost a game they blew a 7-2 lead completely in the 9th inning with Suarez giving up a grand slam AND a two run homer as well...but they calmly responded with three runs of their own against Sewald. There's still 70 games left, but they're in a really strong position...especially if they add a 4/5 back-end starter, another reliever for the 7th/8th and finally another outfielder, although Tatis is expected to return in JULY from his stress fracture that he'd been playing on for pretty much the entire season with incredibly high pain tolerance.
  13. They have to give guys like Colas Sosa Baldwin Elko Ramos and Sosa some of those at-bats.
  14. Furies or Gremlins? McFlurries?
  15. Once again, Machado Bogaerts Darvish and Musgrove are all more worrisome long-term. You realize Tatis made an All Star team again and also a GG with just one offseason to prepare??? I mean…Acuna is a risk now too. Right?
  16. The never ending blame game when the owner calls all the shots but quietly behind the scenes…leaving the GM a constant lame duck and blame deflector.
  17. Dunn at least managed to be well liked. That DV reliever from Houston around 2008. Manny Ramirez. Sosa. Wil Cordero. Clevinger…almost forgotten.
  18. But Keuchel Lynn Kelly Hendriks Peavy etc., the real good guys…true men’s men.
  19. No, he was pretty popular in the clubhouse…he and Rowand the leaders. We can go with Wil Cordero or that Yankees’ 2B prospect who almost got killed in a car wreck…DAngelo Jimenez.
  20. Colorado has to be in the mix there somewhere in terms of rudderless ships…and the A’s. And Marlins. Four worst franchises in baseball…it is not even close right now.
  21. Now because of Grandal Robert Moncada and Eloy…no more Cuban/Hispanic players, lol.
  22. 5 games behind Miami if they win this one…
  23. Depressing his value a bit. Already 11-12? Brendan Rodgers out there as well.
  24. More Padres middle infielders. Xavier Edwards and CJ Abrams. That’s why you draft up the middle…not outside in.
  25. Milwaukee was never going to sign Burnes. And they still have a possibility Woodruff can make it back with that interesting contract structure.
