9/13- Sox vs Royals, 6:40
LOL. Just realized that the A's were 46-100 and the Royals 46-101...sheesh. Ridiculous. When the A's were actively trying to be bad and sabotage their relationship with local fans in many ways. And our so-called leadership was "forged" in the fires of KC, haha.

2023: MLB news not AL Central-related
The one thing here is the injuries that are almost unavoidable (regardless of the equipment) with the whole increasing speed/force/violent collisions resulting in concussions issue...or the fact that running backs have 3-4 year shelf lives now. Parents are going to be increasingly wary in terms of opportunity cost associated with a football career vis a vis other sports.

It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
If everyone who got greedy because they believed they were underpaid (or simply thought they could get away with skimming) was defined as a "sociopath," the list would be exponentially expanded.

2023 MiLB catch all
White Sox: Colson Montgomery, SS (No. 1/MLB No. 17) After oblique and back injuries couched Montgomery for most of the first three months of the season, he has slashed .262/.448/.451 with six homers in 48 games between High-A and Double-A. An Indiana prep product who went in first round of the 2021 Draft, he earns repeated Corey Seager comparisons as a 6-foot-4 lefty-hitting shortstop with huge offensive upside. White Sox prospect that MLB.com writers want to see in the AFL...

2023: MLB news not AL Central-related
Well, those numbers make a lot of sense if you consider that hockey and basketball teams have half as many games. Poor marketing (of stars), young people choosing other sports or gaming/e-sports...it has lost the national appeal and become increasingly regional in nature. And the past 10-15 years of getting that huge bump in revenue from the RSNs is going to get squeezed dramatically with so many households going away from cable and satellite TV.

Sox 29-41 at home. Need to better tailor roster for GRF.
You can forget replacing Moncada unless it's Montgomery at the end of the season...

Colas sent to AAA (again)
It's the fact that the KC model isn't as well suited for GRF and we don't have the players except for Robert and Anderson before 2023 to execute it in the first place. That KC bullpen was pretty much a historical anomaly as well. Then you need a stretch of hitting on all your draft picks and lucking into Sal Perez and gave Rusty Kuntz around to transform Alex Gordon from an average 3B to GG in LF.

It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
Feel like it's kind of similar to the situation the Angels are going to be in....second team in the market, likely losing Ohtani and Trout (either a trade or albatross contract if he can't stay healthy), was considering selling the team a year ago and then reversed his decision (Moreno).

Carter Hawkins works for the Cubs...basically the GM. The most WASP-y background you can imagine for MLB front office executives.

Just trade Kopech for whatever Tier B/C and lottery tickets you can get. He's never going to succeed as a reliever again with all the water under the bridge from failing to meet expectations dating back to the Sale trade and #1 RHP prospect ranking. Better to move on for both sides.

Definitely can't give the runner 3rd with just one out.

Can't just automatically surrender 2B in high leverage situations like Kopech tends to do...

Up to 98 at least...gave up a hit on a 97.2 mph FB.

Uh oh. Kopech in. So much for gradually easing him into the pen. Not that this game really matters in the overall scheme of things.

Padres Thread 2023
In some ways, a win like this -- at this point in the season -- felt a bit cruel. The Padres’ record in late-and-close situations has been re-hashed ad nauseam. They’re 0-11 in extra innings, 6-22 in one-run games and 19-41 in one-or-two-run games. Not only was Monday’s win the largest comeback win of the season, but it marked only the seventh time this year they had overcome a deficit of at least two runs. “At the end of the day, it wasn’t that we didn’t want it to happen earlier in the season,” Soto said. “We’ve just got to follow through it. We’re learning a lot from this year, and we keep grinding. We keep fighting.” Credit the Padres with that much at least. Their season appears destined to end earlier than they’d ever anticipated. Yet, they’re clearly still playing hard, clinging to the notion that -- mathematically -- they’re still alive. And for one night, they looked like the team they always thought they could be. In fact, this game felt like a version of what I think we all expected from the NL West race this season. 68-77 + 64 RS/RA EXP W/L 79-66 AJ Casavell, mlb.com

Austin Hedges would be the perfect rebuild choice if we're going to completely give up on getting offense out of that spot in the line-up.

Colas sent to AAA (again)
So other than Colas and Lee (not running out a ball, which seemed a pretty benign mistake)...has Grifol actually gone after anyone all year other than the Luis Robert incident?

Odds of Bummer throwing a scoreless inning/goose-egg up there?
