9/4- Sox at Royals, 1:10
Only the White Sox could somehow manage to instill less hope in fans with the Grifol/Getz combo. Not even sure Theo Epstein would be able to fix this mess because he wouldn't have FA's to eventually turn to. Whatever is required...it's far beyond the capabilities of Chris Getz.

Rockies still look to be 2 1/2 ahead for third pick. It's like the reverse of 2021 when they couldn't catch the Astros late when they tried to turn it back on during the stretch drive.

Recapping the 10 days...
Basically calling out a young player (Lee) publicly who's struggling to find their place in the big leagues...seems like a dubious decision at best to pile on more stress and anxiety. Just seems to be everything that's wrong all in one. Wrong talent evaluations on the player...combined with pushing them up to the big leagues before they're ready. Well now we can see why they have been reluctant to part with Grandal...who's obviously not part of the future and has been scapegoated as one of many FA personnel decisions that just haven't worked out.

They're here to bring up the progress of their new Korean signing that was enabled by JR/Hahn/KW giving away more international money...?

Sunday afternoon gamethread Detroit @ Sox
Monday Morning QB. But also because it has been so long since the Sox had a really good or at least above-average manager, Guillen from 2004-2008, roughly. Hardly anyone remembers how good some of those managers in the 1950's and 60's like Al Lopez were. Almost all of the recent comparisons are with the truly bad Sox managers like Ventura or Bevington. Well, at least he's better than XYZ, or it could be worse?...Sox fans aren't even getting THAT level of quality recently.

It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
The problem here is that KW has been an absentee landlord more or less in terms of his everyday involvement for a decade. And yet he seemingly wants to be "in the action" still, but there's just no way his knowledge of minor league talent is what it was a decade ago. Would love to know if KW even watched Eder pitch in person, and who were the scouts that made that recommendation? As we have talked about more frequently (compared to the front office hires), with roughly 35% of players being Hispanic and certainly the White Sox reflect that, the focus has been more in that direction for the coaching staff since the Renteria hire. How many franchises have hired three Spanish-speaking managers in a row? And that doesn't even count Cairo and Montoyo? Of course, we all can assume Getz, Thome and even Konerko have JR's ear...and that's something that no Selig Rule will ever change, one's instincts/intuition/who one really trusts for advice/recommendations. Between 35 and 40 percent of assistant coaches in the NFL have been Black in recent seasons. The percentage of Black coordinators increased from between 15 and 20 percent in recent seasons to nearer 30 percent in 2022, driven by an increase in Black defensive coordinators. If you could prove to JR you could make more money with an all-minority team or front office or coaching staff, that's about the only way you'd get him to seriously consider it.

Sunday afternoon gamethread Detroit @ Sox
The crazy thing is the perception is always that Banks sucks and Bummer's the much better pitcher, but you wouldn't know it from looking at their numbers. That said, Bummer keeps getting thrown into high leverage situations regardless of the results or reverse splits.

Patino and Rodriguez called up; Rodriguez sent back down, Remillard up
Whatever the major league minimum is divided by 162....let's say a bit less than $3000 per day plus very generous meal money.

Lynn (1) and Burger (6) on biggest trade impacts,One month later, according to MLB.com writers, these look like best Deadline deals
Especially already having one TJS and not having proven the durability to even last 70 innings in an entire season at any level...let alone a more pedestrian 100.

That would interfere with all the local media Cubs worshipping... And Burger part of a ninth inning rally to get the Marlins back into the WC hunt.

Madrigal and Benintendi with exact same batting average now...Benintendi has him by 0.15 OPS points though after his recent "power surge."

Burger To Marlins
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/statcast?type=batter&year=2023&position=&team=&min=q&sort=17&sortDir=desc That’s a pretty incredible Top 20-30 for Jake Burger to be Top 5 on it. Still Top 5 in terms of hardest hit balls of the entire season. Acuna now first with Shohei in second.

Then who are they going to build around Luis Robert and QUICKLY? Obviously Cease and Kopech in their own mind. Benintendi/TA and Salvy Perez and Yoan and Eloy and Vaughn is not a core, either. Hendriks is out now, too. You’re going to have that group completely miss timed with waiting on Schultz Montgomery Quero Sosa Colas, etc. Knowing Sox history, you’re only going to hit with one of those guys in Montgomery (assuming he doesn’t get hurt.) So Burger for 3 of Robert’s remaining years made a heckuva lot more sense than Moncada. Would have sold more tickets as well because the majority of fans actually liked Jake. Whereas we kept a sunk cost that’s equally unpopular in the hopes he will finally put together a full season offensively AND defensively for the first time in five seasons.

Maybe we need to hire Prime Time as a part time baseball coach to motivate the White Sox... "It's fun," Colorado's Travis Hunter said of playing both ways. "It's hard on your body (playing 120+ total snaps in 100 degree heat), but that's what you got treatment for. I like going out there. I didn't get a touchdown today, but I got an interception, so that's going to help my stats, and it's going to help the team, and helping the team is what I want to do."

9/2 Games
The odds are against both Eder and Crochet making it as starters at this point due to their lack of innings scaling up across multiple seasons now.

9/2 Games
I was thinking Gio and KW, since he was traded twice. Why not another?

Well the numbers are on his side. The last starting pitching prospect that we developed successfully was Rodon? Sort of. Guess you can sort of count Cease.
