  1. "Late last night, Seidler and Preller had a discussion to make an irresistible offer to Manny Machado, according to reports. There were two offers on the table. The first was an 11-year contract worth $350 million, which would give Machado an annual salary of $32 million, starting this year and replacing his previous contract. The second offer was an eight-year contract worth $24 million per year, with the aim of freeing up funds to potentially sign Soto. Kevin Acee reported that Machado's agent was not pleased with the first offer, which was the eight-year, $24 million per year deal, and it appears that neither offer initially included a signing bonus. It has since been reported that Machado will receive a signing bonus of $44 million, paid out over the course of his 11-year contract. As for Soto, the terms of his contract will depend on his position. By putting him in left field, the maximum he might earn is $30 million per year. Currently, the highest-paid left fielder is Schwarber, who earns $20.9 million per year. If Soto plays right field and has a productive year, he may ask for a salary on par with Aaron Judge." gas lampball.com/comments Interesting how many Padres' fans say they would never pay Soto $30 million to play LF (Schwarber current highest able that position with $21 million) with his "heavy feet" and strictly consider him a DH only for the second half of his career. They want to go all-in on Ohtani and poach him away from the Dodgers instead.
  2. Move him to CF. Whenever the organization has an issue, they just push the issue somewhere and hope it goes away. The Sox will never get massive defensive improvements with Boston on the coaching staff.
  3. Colas Burger Ramos E. Hernandez in?starting lineup. Burger at 1B this time.
  4. Shocking. Tatis, Jr., was supposedly one of the main reasons, too. Of course, their famous dugout falling out must have been papered over by a truckload of $100 bills. For 2024, Xander Bogaerts was going to move over to third with Tatis returning to the INF at SS or 2B as the contingency plan...or with Kim potentially sliding back over from 2B returning to SS where he played almost exclusively last year. Also, wasn't a huge fan of Soto last year...he walked a lot but below average defensively. Finally, let the Ohtani Sweepstakes officially begin.
  5. Irresponsible. Unsustainable. Not financially prudent. That only leaves Ohtani and Soto.
  6. https://nypost.com/2023/01/19/bill-walton-ready-for-intergalactic-alternate-nba-broadcast/ Walton to replace Stone, lol? "We’ve got the NBA intergalactic platform,” Walton told The Post. “We’ve got the world’s greatest basketball players. We’ve got the business. We’ve got the entertainment. We’ve got the sports world. We’ve got the celebration of life and health and all good things here. We have fantastic guests. I’m the luckiest guy in the world. We are set for blastoff and the volcanic eruption on Monday night Jan. 23. Seven o’clock Pacific time, be there. Miss this at your own peril. You’ve been suitably warned. I’m fired up."
  7. Anyone have a spare $10 million to?buy Mookie Betts' LA house? https://www.yahoo.com/news/dodgers-star-mookie-betts-lists-170000454.html
  8. Unfortunately Stoney...the Guardians are perfectly set up for the new style of baseball that's going to emerge because they've already perfected it.
  9. https://sports.yahoo.com/arizona-state-stuns-no-7-arizona-with-dramatic-half-court-buzzer-beater-215753000.html Has to be seen to be believed. Bubble implications reverberate across America.
  10. Shades of Gordon Beckham... "Red Sox-Braves game ends after pitch clock violation called for final out. Saturday's Red Sox-Braves spring training game ended with an automatic third strike called on Atlanta batter Cal Conley for not getting set in the box before the pitch clock hit eight seconds." What's going to be the new terminology for this? Walk off doesn't quite work.
  11. Well, just like Sox fans feel like umps are always out to get them, Hummel 85-90% is seemingly on the side of Iowa opponents. He's fine, but Bardo has always been much more complimentary. Also, pretty confident Jackson Merrill vs. Colson Montgomery as the next great SS in baseball will be a very legit discussion by July. And this one hurt...watching Jose Abreu in an Astros' jersey. Just wiped out 33% of Ron813's schtick. https://www.mlb.com/video/abreu-s-first-spring-training-ab?cp=MIXED&p=0&q=PlayerId %3D [547989] Order By Timestamp DESC
  12. I now have my own third person verb, wow...that's almost as good as one of Benetti's delayed drum roll music and tv jokes from the 80s and 90s, with even late 70's disco thrown in to appease Stone Pony. Well, today it was Rage Against the Machine.
  13. Trending! It's actually nice to hear Stone/Benetti/Our Chuck again and not Beckham. And, if Benetti was instead assigned to work on ESPN with Robbie Hummel in IC...no comeback.
  14. So bleary eyed at 555 am after staying up all night from college bb addiction...read this as Meatball Roni, the SF Treat.
  15. He always made me think of Jeremy Reed for some reason due to the over hype and coming from a non-traditional baseball state. JR Birthday Party today...one year closer to the end of regime change.
  16. RON DeSantis, your anti-woke, CRT-inspired/AP African American history hatin' namesake.
  17. Their cheerleaders are better. Search Rakuten Monkeys cheer team...would result in a 15% boost in Sox attendance but numerous annoyed wives and gf's lol. The answer today is the Iowa Hawkeyes, lol.
