2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread
caulfield12 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Shocking. Tatis, Jr., was supposedly one of the main reasons, too. Of course, their famous dugout falling out must have been papered over by a truckload of $100 bills. For 2024, Xander Bogaerts was going to move over to third with Tatis returning to the INF at SS or 2B as the contingency plan...or with Kim potentially sliding back over from 2B returning to SS where he played almost exclusively last year. Also, wasn't a huge fan of Soto last year...he walked a lot but below average defensively. Finally, let the Ohtani Sweepstakes officially begin. -

Irresponsible. Unsustainable. Not financially prudent. That only leaves Ohtani and Soto. -

https://nypost.com/2023/01/19/bill-walton-ready-for-intergalactic-alternate-nba-broadcast/ Walton to replace Stone, lol? "We’ve got the NBA intergalactic platform,” Walton told The Post. “We’ve got the world’s greatest basketball players. We’ve got the business. We’ve got the entertainment. We’ve got the sports world. We’ve got the celebration of life and health and all good things here. We have fantastic guests. I’m the luckiest guy in the world. We are set for blastoff and the volcanic eruption on Monday night Jan. 23. Seven o’clock Pacific time, be there. Miss this at your own peril. You’ve been suitably warned. I’m fired up." -
Shades of Gordon Beckham... "Red Sox-Braves game ends after pitch clock violation called for final out. Saturday's Red Sox-Braves spring training game ended with an automatic third strike called on Atlanta batter Cal Conley for not getting set in the box before the pitch clock hit eight seconds." What's going to be the new terminology for this? Walk off doesn't quite work.

Well, just like Sox fans feel like umps are always out to get them, Hummel 85-90% is seemingly on the side of Iowa opponents. He's fine, but Bardo has always been much more complimentary. Also, pretty confident Jackson Merrill vs. Colson Montgomery as the next great SS in baseball will be a very legit discussion by July. And this one hurt...watching Jose Abreu in an Astros' jersey. Just wiped out 33% of Ron813's schtick. https://www.mlb.com/video/abreu-s-first-spring-training-ab?cp=MIXED&p=0&q=PlayerId %3D [547989] Order By Timestamp DESC

The Sox Will Win the AL Central in 2023
caulfield12 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Have to get off to a fast start to rebuild the fan interest. .500ish first couple of months and tepid attendance means the focus is on trading guys like Anderson, Giolito, Moncada, Grandal and Lynn. Still no idea what we're going to get out of Graveman and Lopez at the back end of the pen. Hoping for a hyper competitive 2008ish season minus the Quentin injury late. -
Andrus to the Sox, expected to play 2B, 1 yr, $3 mil

For? You'd have to eat 70-75% of his contract. -
Or if Leury receives ANY playing time...
