7/7: Cards @ Sox
Switching to Reds/Brewers. Pointless to even watch the White Sox anymore except Robert at bats.

7/7: Cards @ Sox
https://www.milb.com/player/alek-manoah-666201 You can practical guarantee this guy will be one of the Sox starting pitchers in 2024. Maybe if we bring back John Rooney? Radio guy from back to back WS winners in 2005-06. Would have to work better than TLR. Also totally forgot Ricky Horton pitched for the White Sox in 1988 after his time with StL. (We could use another Lance One Dog Johnson, too.)

Remillard looked a bit surprised there the ball had even landed in his glove.

7/7: Cards @ Sox
Ten hits already surrendered by Cease. Sigh.

7/7: Cards @ Sox
They can do it without Giolito Lynn and Clevinger for sure...even with the Royals and Tigers.

7/7: Cards @ Sox
A full half "real" season without a homer now for TA7. Change of scenery trades being mentioned for about half the team lol. Maybe change the GM instead?

Cardinals announcers discussing what teams keep giving Andrus opportunities at this stage in his career.

7/7: Cards @ Sox
Andrus the active stolen base leader for MLB. That version left the building long ago.

As long as it's not Austin. More yuppies there than the Northside.

7/7: Cards @ Sox
Remillard is the quintessential utility guy. He's NOT the guy whose bat is so important it has be shoehorned into the lineup. See Sheets as well.

Who was the poster who moved to Nashville partially to escape from the Sox but is now back?
-
7/7: Cards @ Sox
Can't escape from Nootbaar. He's on all the subway cars here in Japan advertising an eyewear brand.

Fire Rick Hahn
No more managers left to blame when he chose Renteria and Grifol...was part of the brain trust that forced Ventura into providing cover for the front office after Ozzie left as well.

7/7: Cards @ Sox
Cardinals' story all about pitching...lack of team chemistry and the ongoing changeover from Molina to Contreras.
-
7/7: Cards @ Sox
Are we really all that confident in Sosa over Remillard at 2B? Guess they might as well let him sink or swim until the next wave of Popeye Ramos and Montgomery arrives.
-
Fire Rick Hahn
Maybe Rick Hahn is NOT real??? If that was really the case...at least we could be mired in mediocrity. Maybe for NotRickHahn's next trick we can plug all the White Sox trade options into ChatGPT and come up with a better "retooling" plan for 2024...

Trading One Year Assets is Inevitable. Maybe even 2-yr
Doesn't usually go well with starters, either. https://friarsonbase.com/2018/11/30/san-diego-padres-acquire-garrett-richards/

Fire Rick Hahn
Chris Get sounds like a much more formidable exec.

Trading One Year Assets is Inevitable. Maybe even 2-yr
Mentioned Clevinger, Lynn (coveted by other GMs who think he would be fine outside the Sox clubhouse) and Anderson’s decreased values as well.

Trading One Year Assets is Inevitable. Maybe even 2-yr
Which players after Gio, Grandal, Middleton, Andrus, Lynn?

Trading One Year Assets is Inevitable. Maybe even 2-yr
You are free to close the Padres thread if Preller does that. And Grandal already was part of the Padres organization, fyi.

2023 AL Central Division Thread
July 4: Will Bieber be dealt before Deadline? Rival clubs are showing continued interest in some of Cleveland’s starting pitchers, but it’s still uncertain if the club will move any of them before the Trade Deadline, reports MLB Network insider Jon Paul Morosi. Although the Guardians are two games under .500, they’ve played better lately, going 9-5 over their past 14 games, and sit only one game out of first place in the AL Central. That said, a trade can’t be completely ruled out, even if the team continues to win. Cleveland has shown a willingness in the past to deal controllable starting pitchers while still remaining in the playoff hunt -- the club did it with Trevor Bauer in 2019 and Mike Clevinger in 2020. Shane Bieber, who has one year of arbitration eligibility remaining before free agency, is the most likely Guardians starter to be dealt. The 2020 AL Cy Young winner has recorded a 3.48 ERA with an 85-to-28 K/BB ratio over 106 innings in 2023. With Aaron Civale, Cal Quantrill and Triston McKenzie all spending time on the IL this season and Zach Plesac struggling over five starts before being sent to the Minors, the Guardians have had to dip into their rotation depth more than expected, and they’ve gotten solid production from rookies Tanner Bibee (3.46 ERA, 9.3 K/9), Logan Allen (3.47 ERA, 9.1 K/9) and Gavin Williams (3.79 ERA, 0.95 WHIP). The early success of Bibee, Allen and Williams, who were all ranked among MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospects entering this season, could embolden the Guardians to deal the 28-year-old Bieber this summer instead of waiting until the offseason or next year’s Deadline, when he’ll have less trade value. History says the Guardians are unlikely to re-sign Bieber if he reaches free agency. Chuck Finley's $27 million contract covering the 2000-02 seasons is still the largest free-agent deal they've reached with a pitcher in franchise history. MLB.com

Robert started the day with the 3rd highest fWAR in the game. I would hope they/fans would rather watch a star than see Hahn fail to execute yet another "slam dunk" trade that should be stocked in favor of the Sox.

Giolito speaks...
Seems to be pretty set in stone that Rodon Gio and eventually Cease and Kopech will all depart the Sox without extension offers...at least realistic enough ones to be considered seriously by their agents.

Giolito speaks...
Well, he and Jose Berrios were pretty much the two worst qualified starters in the entire majors last year. Obviously much closer to a weak 2 or strong 3 this year.
