  1. Guess that 2012 Sox/Tigers vs. 2022 Sox/Guardians dynamic is still there. Especially that last 1/4th of the season.
  2. Wasn't rolling every ball in BP over to the right side...hit a few line drives to LF apparently.
  3. Sheets would at least K or get a sac fly there with his uppercut swing. Feels like we let them right back into the game again. Especially in CLE.
  4. Abreu was at 24 homers and 92 RBIs this time last year. 2 RBIs and 1 XB hit last 16.
  5. Vaughn didn't look like he had much of a plan up there. McKenzie always seems like his FB is 95-97 rather than 92-95 based on batters' reactions.
  6. Hahn is a KW protege. Paddy is the same background, scouting by the eye. Why would it be shocking that he thought things were okay "as is" when nobody hold them accountable? TLR and Dave Stewart were the same way. It's like Grady Fuson vs. DiPodesta/Jonah Hill in Moneyball all over again. But two decades later.
  7. On the road? That will just energize them...unless they're going to back it up offensively. McKenzie basically has six quality starts in his last eight outings. Sox roughed him up in their first game against them, though. Guardians now with 26 remaining home games, just 18 on the road. 22 comebacks in their final at bats, leads MLB.
  8. Spending $2.5 on Yogurt Sanchez and another $1+ million on Cespedes instead of analytics seems very much like a Hahn problem. The Guardians can somehow manage it with 1/3rd or even 1/4 the budget.
  9. Need to start counting the extra bases taken on balls hit into the outfield and stolen bases as well for every Guardians game. Will be in the 4-7 range every time out.
  10. https://www.cleveland.com/guardians/2022/03/chris-antonetti-not-worried-about-sticks-stones-and-criticism-guardians-takeaways.html But it’s rare to hear opposing players criticize another team because of its small payroll. That was the case recently as Joc Pederson of the Giants and Dallas Keuchel of the White Sox took shots at the Guardians and other MLB teams with low payrolls. (Of course, months later, neither one of those guys is going to the playoffs with bigger market teams.) Last year was the first time in nine straight seasons that Cleveland did not have a winning record. It finished 80-82. “Our objectives haven’t changed,” said Antonetti. “If I was going to ask you what our payroll was in 2016, no one cares. What they remembered is that we played in Game 7 of the World Series. Our goal is how do we find a way to win that last game? “Each market has its own challenges. Our job and our responsibility is to find a way to overcome those challenges and win that last game.”
  11. The analyst looks like he was brought in to suppress organizational health care costs and streamline employee benefits, lol.
