  1. One time I was flipping through the channels and came across a ball game where they showed the field from center field. I was absolutely sure it was The Cell. Turned out to be Yankee Stadium. Take away the monuments in left-center and the albeit cool railing across the outfield, Yankee Stadium and The Cell are identical twins, right down to the blue seats. I never read about how lousy Yankee Stadium is, or the other fields mentioned in this thread.
  2. Twins fans need to think before they speak or just shut the f*** up Sox attendance: 72 dates 1,670,573 avg: 23,202 Twins attendance: 73 dates 1,675,891 avg: 22,957 Great point. My biggest beef is the fact that the size of the crowd is even reported at all. Who the hell cares? IMO, the constant reporting of the low attendance could possibly be the biggest reason that attendance is still below average. If you keep telling the marginal fans how nobody is showing up, they too, like lemmings, will stay away in droves. Whenever a media type is stumped for something to say or write about, they fall back on the Sox attendance. It should really be a non-issue, especially after such a huge win as last night was.
  3. Uh oh. Now the MB fanatics are going to come out of the woodwork.
  4. "Tantric". Now that is an adjective that doesn't get used nearly enough.
  5. Try doing something for yourself rather than b****ing and moaning and blaming others. Are you brain dead? I'm obviously doing something for myself with gathering votes to get the policy changed. And only a loser would become a season ticket holder for a team that hasn't won a WS in nearly a century now. It's not a logical option. No.. I'm not brain dead at all. But you obviously have some issues from the logic you're attempting to justify in this thread. And only a "loser" would wait until the last minute and whine like a baby that he can't get a ticket. BTW guys.. I have 2 extras for tonight.. who needs 2? I could bring the boy but at 2 he doesn't find the field and game more entertaining than running up and down the ramps. Wife gets to go tonight and I get tomorrow and/or Wednesday. Thank God I'm not the only one! My 2 1/2 year old loves baseball and sports, but taking him to an event is just horrible. I look around at other youngsters sitting calmly and ask the Lord why mine won't do that. At least I get a workout though.
  6. Nah, too busy. These people that help me pay my bills actually want some production for their money. Damn slavedrivers!
  7. Sentences for crimes are independent of each other, no? What I mean is, it's not like a contract hearing..."Well, my client hit 20 homers while Player X hit only 15, so my guy deserves more money". Just because one judge let Ligue off easy doesn't mean the other judge has to let those jamokes off easier, does it? I also remember reading after the last incident that those guys were saying running on the field is something everyone needs to do once in their life and recommends it for everyone. Doesn't sounds very remorseful.
  8. Just so I'm clear, this is the little post that is causing all this ruckus? Well, besides the insults against women and the picking on the Brazilian guy's typos. Yeah, it is great that PK is hitting again. It's just unfortunate that he was so horrendous for the first 3 1/2 months of the season.
  9. Looks like other than KC the first game, he's faced just the dregs of the league. Hopefully the Sox can break out of the funk they're in against guys they see for the first time.
  10. It'll be awhile before the Sox can shake off the reputation of being a poor fielding team. That's what happens when you're bad for so long, I guess.
  11. Man, I'm sorry I didn't see that. Hopefully it'll be on Sportscenter tonight. Sounds like it would've been hilarious.
  12. LOL No, but I am a bright red after standing in the sun at the kid's football game. I just can't stand what I term "internet bullying", and that is exactly what we get from this guy day after day. People come here to share their thoughts on the Sox, not get insulted. Unfortunately, that is what happens.
  13. Whether it's right or wrong, I think people have, in their minds, eliminated the Royals. I think the Twins are the team to beat, and not just because of the standings.
  14. If someone wants to be negative about the Sox, that's fine. It may get tiring to read, but what are you going to do? The problem is the endless stream of insults to anyone who isn't as negative, or God forbid, hopeful or optimistic. Jesus Christ, let people enjoy their baseball and their baseball team!
  15. You've been watching baseball since you were 5 weeks old and still the Twins winning a few in a row over the Angels and Rangers has you convinced they're going to win out? I'm speechless. I am...without speech.
  16. Dude, nobody gives a s*** how long you've been a fan. All I ever read from you is how if anyone is excited about this team's chances and disagrees with you about the Sox's need to go 23-2 down the stretch, they don't know baseball and have been following the team for 3 weeks. I guess I know less than you since I've only been a fan for 26 years. I guess missing out on the 1974 season makes me an uneducated fan in your book. If everything about the Sox pisses you off, perhaps you should stop watching. Or if nothing else, spare us from your mindless angry bulls***. Oh wait... There....
  17. My Lord, what did Foulke need to do to get benched last year then? He was God-awful, and if anything was given too many chances by JM. JM is not going to be on many Manager of the Year ballots, but I would have to point to D'angelo Jimenez being the Sox's best offensive weapon in the first half as a prime example as to why they had such a rotten start. If JM should be fired for the team performing below expectations, then Konerko, Valentin, Buerhle, Koch, and Colon should be fired for not living up to expectations. Even now, the Sox have one hitter, Mags, over .300. Hell, I don't think anyone else is within spitting distance of .300. I guess I'm just quicker to point to the guys on the field rather than those who aren't.
  18. Also, please don't confuse me for a Manuel supporter. I've had complaints about him for years, especially for his penchant for emptying the bench for last games of series. I just feel that players deserve more blame when things go south. Like stranding so many runners last night.
  19. Can you say with certainty that they don't practice hitting fly balls? And the Sox top GIDP guys are home run hitters, PK, Mags, CLee. And how do you blame Manuel for Kimm sending Rowand, though I and others feel it was a good call?
  20. Anyone seen or heard from Rex Hudler lately? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1608925
  21. Who hasn't said that they're through with the team after a heartbreaker? I think the difference is that after the initial reaction, you regain your senses. After what looked like an Ortiz gapper went over the fence I screamed "f***!" told my wife that I hate the Sox with every fiber of my being, she said "Of course you do, honey." and that was it. 30 seconds later I realized they're still in first and it's just a tough luck loss. To feel that way long enough to jump on the 'puter and type out those feelings either shows immaturity in your love for your team or a psychological disorder. It helps me that I've come to realize that no matter what the Sox do, I still have to go to work the next day, pay my bills, get to spend time with my family, etc. I've learned to enjoy sports a lot more once I've learned this.
  22. I would have s*** had Kimm held him up at third. I still can't believe Roawnd didn't score. I didn't see him all the way around the bases, but he should have been at second when the ball hit the ground. That ball hit the wall and just laid there for what seemed an eternity. For a second I thought Manny was conceding the run it took him so long to get there. Just a bad break. Wasn't there someone faster than Rowand on the bench? Would you put in Miles in that situation? Is he even faster? I just think that if your PR can't score on a double, why put him in there? Better off keeping Frank in the game, IMO.
