World Cup. Only comes around every 4 years. Most widely played sport in the world. It's a no brainer for me.

Leaving in about two hours for vacation in Hatteras, N.C. (I'm driving the third shift is why I'm awake.) Stopping in D.C. on the way back to catch Sox-Nationals. See you all in about ten days!

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) Newest rumor is Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Mizzou to the Big East. Holy Moly. The Big East adding Kansas would be crazy for the Basketball in that conference. -

Academics are playing a very, very, minor role in this. It's all about football and $. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) They had him on M & H this morning on the Score, and he basically made it sound like he would have cried too if the Flyers had won the Cup. Just seeing anybody hoist the Cup makes him emotional. I heard that too. It almost just seems like he was so emotional that he never got to feel that. -
So this streak guarantees Omar a spot in the lineup for about 2 months, am I right? I hope he keeps it up because even when we are terrible I can't help but continue to watch the games and it is nice to get a series win over a division rival. Now SWEEP THE CUBS!

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) EARLY. However early you think is too early, go EARLIER. Unlike the Sox rally, half the city doesn't hate this team, so I expect it to be more packed than 2005. It will probably be a bit smaller than the Sox rally I'd imagine. I'd still get there super early if I was going to go. -
I like the words being starred out. I feel like I use the words less casually and the stars convey great emotion. f***ers.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 12:01 AM) I was trying to think what the baseball equivalent of that odd goal would have been to win the World Series? Homerun called on a replay? -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) Cards can't seem to beat any of the good teams in the NL. Swept by the Dodgers. They desperately need another starting pitcher and might need another 2B. Buehrle and Lillibridge.

QUOTE (Be Good @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 11:58 PM) I was planning on going to game too and a failry empty ballpark, but ohh well When I bought the tickets for this game, I certainly didn't expect a packed house in D.C. -

I also would like to offer my congrats to the real fans out there. I obviously know the feeling. I wasn't really that excited about this but it certainly made me want to watch 2005 highlights. -

Did anyone else hear someone say to Kane during the interview "no cab rides tonight." f***ing hilarious. Kane and his brosephs were funny. Everyone else had their families out there and Kane has three dudes that look like they came from a frathouse. Dude is going to be f***ed up tonight. -
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) It looks like the former one took only the 57 starters that had at least 20 starts (ie the relatively competent) while the latter used everyone (414 for his purposes). I would imagine that if you truly and completely suck, the difference in leagues doesn't affect your results a whole lot (just a theory though). The latter also used multi-year statistics, which probably eliminates some of the variation. Silva disagrees with this theory.

The Official Stephen Strasburg needs Tommy John Thread

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) Haha I told J4L a couple days ago on the futuresox board don't jizz too hard when he dominates us. The strikeouts are nice but I was more impressed he had 0 BBs! 0 BB in his major league debut. That is just amazing. I'm pissed I missed most of his start (had to take my grandmother to the train station) but I saw the first couple of innings and he hit 99 and I was like damn. I read this thread and I see he hit 101 and 103?! That is just too sick for words. Nats really brought him up nicely to the horrid offenses of the Pirates and the White Sox to really get your feet going at the MLB level. Oh and BTW, they had a pretty nice draft this year to boot. (especially if they somehow sign A.J. Cole to pair with Strasburg as one of the sickest 1-2 punches in the game if he signs and pans out) Don't forget that he has to face the juggernaut Indians lineup in the middle of Pirates and Sox. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) That's great, you have to imagine his jerseys are flying off the shelves. Yeah, we bought tickets to stop in D.C. on the way back from Hatteras, NC for vacation a couple months back. Awesome luck on that one. -

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 10:04 AM) Although not as good of a player and a different type, I would say Antawn Jamison is considered close to a Pau Gasol. Antawn Jamison is no where near the player Gasol is. Antawn Jamison might be as good as Lamar Odom or Artest.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) To me, if I'm gonna get something that's with me for life...it's gonna be something that I've worked on myself. Not just going into a shop & picking a tiger hanging off of a palm tree. Also like Sqwert, the shop I went to (speakeasy) does only custom work. sign me up for this.
