QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Read the Passon story. Lots of evidence on yahoo he is a major bum. Maybe turd is the better word. I'm all in favor of winning at all costs on the professional level. Bring him in. I just hope the fans at the Cell cheer his every hit and boo him mercilessly on every out. He accepted all that adulation in LA then when he tired of the city, s*** on his teammates and fans, which he will do here as well. Let's beat him to the punch. Demand he produce or boo his ass off the field before he does it to the Sox as he has other teams. Cmon quitter ... let's play ball. Lead us to the pennant big guy. Sox pay you 4 mill; lets see a 4 million dollar month or boo you off the field. Did Manny poop in your bedroom?

I used to wake up to drink at 7 am once a year in college. 11 am is fine. I started drinking at 11 at the game today.

QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) Coach Newton Basically borrowing a few of his strategies . . . Basically I will be recruiting, recruiting, recruiting The long green line will become the purple pack, they already have really short hair :-) It is a really short season so about 1/3 LSD, about 1/3 fartlek, and some speed work leading up to the big District meet. Working with my 7th graders on a year round running program will be the key for me next year. Now I have to take whomever comes through the door and in whatever shape they are in. Ideas? I'd love to hear them. It's not the 60's anymore Tex.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) THIS. Not only is it impossible to play defense, if the reciever or running back is decently good he's breaking tackles & juking the s*** out of the defense like Barry Sanders. Offline isn't as bad. It'd be nice if they were to release a patch to fix some of this. Couldn't agree more. It is nearly impossible to stop anyone. Every game I play on or offline is a shootout.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 12:33 AM) Have you ever met an Alabama fan? I said NFL. College football fans are the absolute worst.
-
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 11:40 PM) I couldn't agree more with you. I find it that much more annoying since I consider the Bears to effectively be the Cubs of the NFL. Yes, they did win a title in some of our lifetimes, but they have a really annoying fan base and a sense of entitlement and royalty that is based entirely on distant history/success versus the present doings of the team. I am fairly certain that if the Cardinals had never moved from Chicago most Sox fans would have grown up Cardinals and not Bears fans. I agree. I think I would like football a whole lot more with a second chicago team.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Nice post. Well, living in Chicago sucks as the Bears have to have one of the dumbest and worst fanbases in all of pro sports. It makes all the talk that much more nauseating. I'll say this too: there is nothing more over-hyped or more pointless in sports than NFL training camp. Honestly, I am shocked people give a flying f*** about it. How fans can listen to hours of radio coverage of that s*** is beyond me. This is the reason I'm not a big football fan. Bears fans, although I am one myself, are the worst in the NFL. It's horrible.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) I seem to remember quite a few posters who wanted ANYONE but Jim Thome because he was washed up. He was too old, too slow, and stuck out too much. The general sentiment was literally "anyone but Jim Thome." Well, some got what they wished for. I'll admit to being one of them. I'm still not mad they didn't bring back Jim. I'm mad they didn't spend the money to get a real hitter here.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) Holy s*** people, why are some people so freaking stubborn? Those that wanted Thome gone were also under the impression that KW would acquire another hitter that could get those at bats as the DH. Everyone and their mother would have wanted Thome back if we knew that Kotsay/Jones would be the alternative. I've said the same thing. I didn't want Thome back. I sure as hell didn't want Kotsay/Jones though.

You are completely wrong if you think a majority of Twins fans had confidence they were going to win it in the tenth.
-
QUOTE (11and1 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) Did anybody really believe Thome wasn't going to beat us, and in a devastating manner? I have been expecting and dreading this since the moment he signed with the Twins. The baseball gods were angered, and now they have spoken.... I expected him to strike out. Everybody here should remember when half the board was whining about him striking out every time in the late innings last year.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) It's a season long disastrous move. Deserves to get talked about that long. You might be right but it is not like there is anyone to argue against. I'm pretty sure everyone agrees that Thome would have been better than Kotsay so it's a pointless argument. The opening post in this thread makes it seem as if you are happy about that so you can rub it in everyone's face that Ozzie and Kenny made a mistake, everyone knows we should have signed him. It's pointless conversation at this point. .
-
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) Can we please close this thread? Or at least get it the f*** outta Pale Hose Talk? agreed. this should be moved or locked. it serves no real purpose except for people to whine about Thome not being signed which has been happening too much as it is.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) I have never been as angry at any one post on this site as I am with this. Uncalled for.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) People should be granted citizenship just because they are born here. People should be able to build a Mosque next to the site of the Twin Towers. (eventhough its not really next to the site) We once were a city upon a hill, where we were the model of free society. But we inch closer to being nothing more than what we allegedly despise. Everyone who is born in America, deserves to be a citizen. But then again I believe the the idea of America was to be a place where those who are persecuted, those who seek a better life, would be free to join whenever they please. I dont agree with immigration quotas, I dont agree with refusing to allow people to come to America to seek a better life. Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" I understand that people want to have advantages and not let other people immigrate here and potentially compete with them for jobs and benefits. But is that not the American way? Are we not capitalists? Do we not believe in competition and that the hardest and best working will rise to the top? To me that is America. And it actually bothers me to see that people can claim to care about freedom, equality, etc. but at the same time do everything in their power to prevent all people from having that. Yes. Thank You. Why shouldn't someone born here get citizenship?
