QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) I suppose that's true but I think if Ozzie hadn't brought us the WS title he would've been gone by now. I honestly think the organization puts up with his attitude simply because that sticks in their head. Blind loyalty as it has been said before. That's just what I think, though. agreed

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) I used to actually feel the same way... before Ozzie started insulting his fan base and throwing players under the bus. Now I just look at it as a joke. I hate the way he manages but I always liked his comedic attitude on the podium. Now I can't even respect that. I'm on the fence with Ozzie. I like him and think he gets alot out of his players but he makes some horrible moves out there day in and day out. I really think if we drop him the White Sox would completely drop off alot of radars again.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 06:34 PM) So why use those fans as an example? Why try to use fans that don't really understand or even care to understand the game from a deep perspective in trying to defend Ozzie? Where's the logic? Those fans pay to see the team and there are more of them than there are us die hards. I think having Ozzie as a manager does help keep the team more relevant to be honest.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) There's no way to know if Thome would have helped us. All we know is that he wasn't a fit here for 4 years. He didn't fit in whatsoever. He never excited anybody, only made them cringe and pray for anything but a strikeout. If you think differently, I have to ask if you ever watched Sox baseball with a big group of Sox fans? If you weren't cringing or pulling hair out when Thome was up at crucial times, then...uh...what were ya doin??? Cheering confidently that Thome was gonna make that pitcher pay??? My ass. He came through like 1 outa 15 times; let his meaningless memory go. I agree with you. I was all for letting him go. Obviously he is still better than Kotsay. It's a pointless argument to have on here but it seems to happen every day, win or lose.

QUOTE (Special K @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) I mean, why would I not bring it up in a discussion about possible DHs for the 2010 White Sox? FYI Thome hit a home run that scored the Twins 5th run today in their 5-4 win. Probably because it's been exhausted. It's not like there are a million people on this site that are claiming that Kotsay was the right move. It's beating a dead horse when we are on a 7 game win streak!

I'll be rooting hard for the Salukis. -
QUOTE (Special K @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) I mean, as nice of a find as that is... Damon's line is not the issue, this line is 20 HR, BA. .270, OBP .394, SLG. .603, and OPS .998 Those are Thome's numbers and it dwarfs both of those guys. He is also doing it with only 290 PAs. Lastly, although things may not have worked out the same, had we resigned Thome the Twins would really have been hurting for those numbers this year with Morneau missing almost the entire 2nd half. But things are looking up now that we went out and picked up a legit DH. I think he's making $1 million too. Everybody knows the white sox should have signed Thome. We don't need to bring it up in every thread.

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 11:24 PM) I'm getting really close to closing this thread. I will be avoiding it. I don't want to watch two irrational people go at it when were on a 6 game winning streak. Don't Stop Believin!

I hope SIU beats Illinois, wouldn't surprise me. I'll be attending my first FBS football game saturday when ISU plays at Northwestern. Should be fun. ISU will lose by 40+ though. -
Got it in the gamethread.

Can somebody tell me what happened?

What just happened??????

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) Machete was a terrific pop corn movie. I just got back from it. I loved it.

thank the lord.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) How could you say that when you probably haven't (I'm assuming) seen a single Rangers game this year, save for when we play them? I've seen the Rangers play maybe 8 or 9 times this year which although hardly anything to judge off of, Hamilton just doesn't do it for me. Which is strange because usually I'm in love with anyone putting up those kind of numbers.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) Hamilton's numbers improve when it is close and late. 1.164 OPS in high leverage spots. haha. looks like im way off base. He still doesn't scare me the way Cabrera does.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Look at the numbers, Hamilton's are pretty gaudy, and Hamilton plays on a first place team. The ONLY shot Paulie has is if Hamilton slumps his AVG down around .330, and the Sox win the division. Those two happening are pretty unlikely. I've looked at the stats and I know Paulie won't get MVP. I just have a hard time imagining Josh Hamilton having as many clutch hits or carrying the team the way Konerko does. I feel like he is numbers without substance. Cabrera on the other hand I can see.
-
I agree Paulie will have his number retired and a statue. I think him and Buehrle are both locks.
-
I don't watch the Rangers and I know the numbers, but I still have a hard time believing that Josh Hamilton is really having a better year than Konerko. Konerko has been everything for this team.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) Got that right. I'll never fool myself into thinking will acquire a superstar again. Me neither. Unless its the White Sox and an aging slugger.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:58 PM) ^ Where'd you grab that from G? I know you'd be excited for Melo in the Chi.

One of the few upsides of currently being unemployed.

I think I would rather have Manny hit third. Either way though, I think his presence is exactly what we need.
