  1. id take rogers..cruz seems like kind of a s***head..though i maybe misreading him...
  2. the only problem i have with legalizing drugs is doesnt just stop at that...its not going to remove the bad guys from the picture...the push will then be for harder drugs on younger kids...if you take away what they do now they will create another market...its hard enoughtrying to raise kids with all the crap going on in this world... i dont like the idea of jailing someone just for drugs because if youre not hurting anyone else i dont see why that would warrant jail time...but i dont know if anyone can really see all the ramifications if we legalized drugs...i dont know how far the bad guys would go to stay in business...
  3. it goes w/o saying ill always miss sean...glad he is back in the AL central..have to take in a royals game this year
  4. Either way, I am a Rowand supporter. Ya know what? I think Borchard will have to have a monster st to push rowand off....methinks jm is set on rowand if he has solid numbers during st...my bet is borchard starts the year in aaa but finds his way up by June...... Sooner or later they are going to have to find a way to make room for both Rowand or Borchard. I really hope Rowand will break out this season, because I think you guys will really like what you see. He hasn't shown the power that will come. He can be a legitimate 25-30 HR guy. I'm with you. If Rowand breaks out then Borchard can step into Center with Rowand in left. Then you can let either Thomas or Lee walk, saving money on one of them. That way you can reup with Colon, sign Buerhle long term and try to make another splash to hopefully bring a 2nd straight World Series Title to Chicago KW better not let thomas walk over lee
  5. oh s***..now you have done it...here comes a cwsox rant on danny evans
  6. i hope portland does get a team...i thin kthey have orived with years and years of sell outs with the trailblazers that its a good sports town... and its the fastest growing city in america...they deserve a shot...is the commitment there to build a ML stadium???...im thinking a retractable roof because of the horrible weather in april in the PC WEST???.
  7. i didnt think that was a cheap shot by johnson..i think what mark was trying to say was foulke was to the bullpen what thomas was to the lineup..and when frank went in a slump you didnt replace himand the same should have been extended to foulke...atleast thats how i saw it.. i think mark was taking a shot at JM not FT
  8. cmon now..its really hard to hate the d-rays
  9. i think rauch could knock glover out of the picture...most old timers turn to earl weaver and tommy lasorda as the best models for how to break in a pitcher..they always seemed to start a guy off in the bullpen his rookie year and have him earn his way into the rotation....but im with most who think rauch would be best served with another year pitching every 5th day at charlotte...just because i think he needs another year to fully return back from injury..and pitching on a set schedule would be better then the random use a reliever gets...

    "El Duque"

vaszquez wants 7.1 million..the spos offered 6 and they couldnt come to some kind of agreement???...like splitting the difference???...gheezzz..great example of whats wrong with baseball...
  11. hmmm... iwould have guessed mcgwire whe he won one with oakland
  12. maybe MLB should put a cap on the number of players from japan a team can draft???..kinda like they do in japan..you can only have 2 foriegners on a japanese roster...it looks like the yankees are gonna use japan as another farm system
  13. this trade reminds me alot of the chad bradford - miguel olivo trade...trading a relief pitcher that could help you now for a player that has a higher ceiling but is a few years away....the difference was that when we traded bradford we also trade for david wells because we were in a win now mode...the timeing wasnt right for us to make that deal...pittsburgh on the other hand is in a win 10 years down the road mode...so its really too early to evaluate this trade but right now but id say unless gurrier turns into the next greg maddux and marte isnt a one year wonder its a win on the sox side..and could very well be a win on the pirates side too... btw , heather was talking about fate and what happens down the road with trades in another post..here's one to ponder...if we didnt make the bradford - olivo trade and were left with no catcher now...do you any of you think kenny would have seriously went after IROD???..would he be a sox right now if we didnt have olivo???..would the koch deal have been made because johnson would have been the only catcher???...that one trade seems imo to have had a serious effect on our roster...
  14. griffey is in the same boat as thomas....exactly the same...the most dominating player in the 90's who has run into a stretch of rough years due to injury....he has also rededicated himself this off season to a workout regiment like no other time in his career.. it bothers me that we are so sure thomas will rebound to his former self or be very close...yet everyone here is so sure griffey is through....makes me wonder if frank really is done and we dont see it because we are fans and cant look at frank's situation objectively... but we can with griffey.. plus this deal is not maggs for griffey..if it was it would be a resounding hell no...its also adam dunn for carlos lee...carlos lee is the crappiest ballplayer ive seen in a long time...i dont care about his potential..ive been waiting for his potential long enough..even if he delivers as a solid hitter someday he will continue to create runs for the other team and raise our young pitchers era because he has the arm of a 5 year old girl (along with the brains of one),and as far as range goes i think joe nossek moves faster even before his metimucel kicks in...plus carlos will always be getting picked off base probably at the most crucial times... (9th inning off 3rd with one out and down a run - sound fimiliar??)....it scares the bejesus out of me to think that if we are tied with twins going down the stretch how many blunders carlos will make to cost us games...i think of all the screw ups ralph garr cost in '77..remember lonnie smith costing the braves the world series when he went from 2nd to only 3rd on a double???..then failed to score...these types of plays will be carlos lee's legacy...you dont win with dumb ballplayers...i dont why it happens like this but carlos will never get picked off base when we are winning 14-2..or misjudge a fly ball...oh no..we will always be down a run late when he decides to go off to la-la land...its like the baseball gods want to punish you for insulting them with this type of ignorance...i dont care what carlos hits..even if its 350 -50 -150 he will find a way to derail this team...in my mind he will always be addition by subtraction...there isnt much i wouldnt do to get carlos out of here and replace him with a talent like adam dunn.. maybe im a little rough on carlos but i needed something to rant about..been a crappy night
  15. coop jussa good ole boy from down yonder
  16. sorry but i dont think socal needs another baseball team...DC should get the first shot...followed by portland oregon..jmo
  17. why do you do this???...everytime i question an author's motives of your's you throw up limbaugh in my face...do you ever hear me quote limbaugh??...i dont like the guy...ive watched his show a few times like 7 maybe 10 years ago and found him to be an obnoxious bore...im sure deep down he was pissed off that bush won the election because he would be a lot more popular with a democrat president to bash...limbaugh is an opportunist...im not a fan of his... im not even bother reading some college professor's paper on his opinion of the war...if this guy , who you say now is employed at the university of chicago , came out in full support of bush what do you think that would do to his career???..do you honestly think these guys can support a conservative position at a liberal institution w/o putting their careers at risk??? honestly id rather hear your opinions then some guy who has alterior motives like keeping his job... and before you go there, yes there are guys on the right who support positions for the same reason, i.e limbaugh...thats why you dont see me bringing up links to conservative papers....i try and do the best i can to sift through the bulls*** and form my own opinions...
  18. well heather...i see this thread really went the way you wanted it to ..oh well
  19. that guy is warped...i dont blame orielly at all for cutting his mic..btw..ive watched orielly for years now and ive never seen him do that..he threatened to ..but ive never actually seen him cut off someone's mic...that kid is seriously warped..maybe thats his way of dealing with the loss of his father...but it comes off like he is s***ting all over his dad's memory...
  20. wait a minute...carlos lee wears '45 and thats the last year the scrubs went to the world series..so unless you want the scrubs to go to the WS instead we have to trade carlos for your theory to come true

    Yao Ming

That's a pretty general opinion of him. well, thats about the extent of my basketball expertise..im really not a fan of the NBA...never really got into roundball..guess because i suck at it so much...played football and baseball in high school...but i never could make the basketball team ...i did end up keeping stats though...the coach was also my science teacher and was really cool...wish he coached football or baseball because we had 2 real dicks coaching those sports...or maybe it was just my s***ty attitude through high school
  22. i am not pissed at you for not serving...there is no draft or any requirement of voluntary service to this country...so you are well within your rights...i am pissed at you for calling me a racist when i was sending a message to one who is now getting ready to put his life on the line..from one who did the same thing years earlier...the people i was calling 'ragheads' are people that are going to be firing bullets at the heads of nuke and his buddies...you obviously didnt get the jist of my message so calling me a racist was a real stretch... the word racist is thrown around way too much these days..a racist is some who hates a group of people bases on ethnicticity so much that he/she would do everything in their power to ensure these people's civil rights were abused..would take away their freedoms including the opportunity to gain financial independance... refusing to hire someone based on skin color is racist...physical harm to somebody based on the same is racist...calling a small group of iraqi's "ragheads" because they will be engaging in war against us is not racist...intolerant is probably a better choice of words..and yes im intolerant of anyone wanting to kill american soldiers...whether you feel we are justified to be there or not...
  23. this is from the cubune....talks about what foulke and MJ said at the A's fanfest...read the end carefully...the author makes a serious reach when he says foulke is criticizing thomas....i dont see how anyone can draw that conclusion..if you do..please explain it to me cause i dont get it... Foulke talks of demotion, commotion E-mail this story Printer-friendly format Search archives More Headlines ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By Teddy Greenstein Tribune staff reporter February 9, 2003, 10:16 PM CST The way Keith Foulke sees it, the White Sox didn't reward him for being a team player last season. If anything, they punished him for it. Foulke told reporters Saturday at the A's annual fanfest that after manager Jerry Manuel demoted him from closer to setup man, he probably should have pushed to get his old job back. "I've never been one to make a whole lot of waves," he said. "I'll tell the manager what I think, but I do what I'm told. This time it didn't work out." Foulke said that after blowing two saves in May, he walked into Manuel's office and told him he was embarrassed to face his teammates. "I said if he wants to take me off the job, fine," Foulke recalled. "He said, 'Hey, when you get your stuff back, you'll get your role back.' I worked hard ... and continued to be in there in the seventh and eighth innings." Catcher Mark Johnson, who also was dealt to Oakland in the December deal for Billy Koch, said Foulke should not have been demoted. "When Frank Thomas goes through an 0-for-20 slump, you don't take him out," Johnson said. "You work through it." Foulke rebounded to post a 0.74 ERA after the All-Star break. But he didn't close again until mid-September because his replacements were lights out. Antonio Osuna and Damaso Marte combined for 21 saves in 23 chances over the season's final three months. And in what appears to be a veiled criticism of Thomas, Foulke spoke of the Sox's unpleasant clubhouse atmosphere. "A lot of things that went on there should have been stopped, and it wasn't," Foulke said. "That was kind of the demise of the team. "I'll leave it at that. I'm happy to be in Oakland."
