Kansas City Royals vs Chicago White Sox 3:10 PM
ILMOU replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2014 Season in Review
QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 02:37 PM) 24 pitches for the first Gotta say, not impressed at all with Garcia's D, got a terrible jump on that ball. He shouldn't get so heavy this young. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) About 2/3 of the games he's played in the minors he started at SS. Sure, but it's still a huge question about his development, the answer to which could have a ripple effect on the future infield. Really hoping he can be good enough at short. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 12:20 PM) I was thinking this earlier today too. I would love an infield of Abreu, Micah Johnson, Semien and Davidson. That would be swell.

Left in the Desert - Prospects Unexpectedly Unassigned

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 09:58 AM) Ayala is the frustrating one of the bunch. Especially late last year when he was losing PAs to organizational filler. Yeah, gonna be slow with him, I guess. Where is Zach Fisher? Repeating GF I should assume? -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) Ah yes. The good ol' "I didn't know what I took and I'm sorry for it" defense. Everyone who's been caught has used some version of the "I got it at GNC" excuse, at least initially. Boilerplate.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 09:26 AM) Drives me nuts how Ortiz's steroid use has been nearly completely swept under the rug and nobody seems to care. He failed a test the same way and time that Sosa did and Sosa is viewed as a villain. (And I am in no way defending Sosa) I will remain vigilant. It won't be easy to withstand the relentless narrative of the Boston media wanting so badly for everyone to forgive, and especially forget.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 08:19 AM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20140404 Rienzo starting for Charlotte. Jaye starting for Birmingham. Goldberg starting for Winston Salem. Danish starting for Kannapolis. Four guys who have already or will likely reach the majors. System improving.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 08:05 AM) I wasn't surprised to hear that David Ortiz would be the one to take a selfie with the President when the Sawks did their White House visit. I also wasn't surprised to hear later on that the purpose of said selfie was product placement/marketing for Samsung. Big Steroid shares many traits with the once-loved Sosa. God willing, he'll be equally exposed at the final curtain.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 09:38 AM) Is Goldberg one of those guys that is starting just to get innings, but will end up a reliever if he makes it? Likely, yes.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 09:21 AM) In addition to having this thread for game days, and the @FutureSox twitter posting information... we now have a plan in place for doing daily recap write-ups on the blog. Two regular posters in this forum (raBBit, soutside hitman) have volunteered to take on these daily/nightly duties. So, if all goes to plan, starting tonight until early September, there will be content on the blog every day. You'll be able to bring up the blog and see an overview of what transpired in all the Sox affiliate games, with links to boxes, stats and fun facts. The recaps will go up in the evenings after games are finished, or on occasion, the next morning. TODAY'S STARTERS: Charlotte @ Norfolk, 6:05pm CT, Scott Carroll starts Birmingham @ Montgommery, 7:05pm CT, Chris Beck starts Wilmington @ Winston-Salem, 6:00pm CT, JB Wendelken starts Greenville @ Kannapolis, 6:05pm CT, James Dykstra starts Pitching-wise, other than the Beck start, I'm more excited about tomorrow when Danish, Jaye and Goldberg start, along with Rienzo.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) Semien is ideal when/if he is ML ready. We need OBP in the two-hole more than anything else. In the mean time, it may as well be the hottest hand. This. The ideal guy if Semien doesn't work out may not be in the system.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) Eaton 8, Semien 5, Abreu 3, Dunn DH, Garcia 9, De Aza 7, Ramirez 6, Flowers 2, L. Garcia 4. Quintana 1 I guess Gillaspie still under the weather.

If the radar future track on weather.com is to be believed, the rain should end by around noon, providing a window. Hope they don't just cancel it early, hate rainouts.

Minor Madness - Can Charlotte carry 28 pitchers?
ILMOU replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
Looks like Olacio bumped up to the Dash. Lots of movement: Anderson, May, Barnum also at WS, Michalczewski, Engel at Kanny -
Got a first good look at our bullpen yesterday. Damn, we got some chunkers. Cleto, Veal and Belly (if that nickname hasn't been hung on Belisario yet, let me be the first) should get an Old Country Buffet endorsement. Then you've got Paulino in the rotation, and EJohnson might be dangerous with the MLB meal per diem. Even Lindy looks to be porking out. Discuss.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 08:46 AM) He probably is off the juice and he is a big bicycle rider now. That will slim you down fast. Yep. And even the most skillful headhunter tribes couldn't shrink a skull that much.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 05:56 AM) It's only one game, but I like what I've seen so far. Apparently, De Aza likes hitting further down in the order and not being a lead-off guy. He obviously has the power (17 HRs last year). Maybe allowing him to be a different type of hitter will help. Regardless, he's already either showing that he's the man for the job or he's a good trade candidate. Just keep him in a run-producing role and away from any table-setting role and he may be fine.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 07:50 AM) Will the DHMO eventually make him Barry Bonds big? BTW, did you see Bonds giving the MVP trophy to Cutch yesterday? Must have lost 50 lbs. - barely recognized, though it was Bobby.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 11:59 AM) i dont think it would dissected at all if that were the case. I mean come on, De Aza or Viciedo. Who cares. Similar numbers, one is a little older, neither seem to be in long term plans. Not a little, a lot. 5 years. I can deal with it if it's showcasing for trade, otherwise dumb. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) De Aza-good. Unless it helps him get traded in a few weeks, no. -
I'm seeing 7 starting pitchers in Kanny. Brennan Danish Olacio Hansen Montas Bucciferro Leyer Maybe someone or two heading to relief, or up or down. No reason that Blough at WS or Doyle at B'Ham should slow down anyone on the rise this season. Lot of interesting arms to watch throughout the system, starting this Thursday.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 11:27 PM) He will be the closer soon. And that's from the top. No surprise. His slider looked very closerish the other day. Build that trade value, Nate.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) Gettys is interesting. He is a toolbox, though with terrible swing mechanics and has been reported to have one of the strongest arms some scouts have seen. Probably snatched up by the time the Sox pick at 42, but fits the profile of the athletes the Sox have pursued in the past. I already "hate" him - just say no.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) With the option of going to college, Aiken probably has more leverage than Rodon and might be looking for similar amounts of money. We can avoid surprises by putting out back-channel feelers to their handlers in this regard, no? Whether legally or not, I think we can get an idea.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) Also if Viciedo hits we'd be in a far better position to trade him and his iron glove for another LH bat though for what position I have no idea. But the fact remains we still need more LH hitters since most of our lefties everyone wants gone. Assuming Davidson supplants Conor, it comes down to this for me: There are three positions heading into '15 where we can put some lefty power, LF/CF if moving AE to LF, C, and DH. Two of those three will ideally be occupied by a LHH or SH with some pop. -
