  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) Long single AR HR in our park, as hard as it was hit.
  2. QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 05:35 PM) We are going to need to score a lot of runs if we want a chance in this one....I've got no faith in humber His body language sucks too. Maybe he can settle down as Axe did yesterday.

    QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) Tons of s*** besides the stuff already mentioned. And definitely in regards to the bold. No sure exactly if you're agreeing or disagreeing. Please nominate another, if the latter. The other most unforgettable death scene for me was the killing of Lem by Shane Vendrell at the end of season 5 of the Shield. But that one was so gut-wrenching, whereas GF's was a "F*** Yeah!" reaction. EDIT: Oh wait, now I get that you were referring to other things that LHankin has acted in, sorry.
  4. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 03:29 PM) The point was pretty clearly that you can't trade away all your young potential stars for the EJax's of the world if you want to remain competitive on an extended basis. Trading Viciedo would be such a move. Nobody is saying, or has ever said, that Viciedo would be a draw on his own. But it has been repeatedly shown that winning is the only draw the Sox could ever depend on and Viciedo can be a significant part of winning in the future. I think you're being purposely obtuse to further an argument you presented months ago just out of stubbornness. You manage to wedge Viciedo into as many crevices as you can, even if the argument doesn't fit. EDIT: I'm also fairly sure nobody has ever said they would NEVER trade Viciedo under any circumstances. I'm sure we would all trade him for Grienke if we could be assured a contract extension. However, we want an eye to the future and you apparently want to dump him for Rob Mackowiak. Excellent post.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) MLB Trade Rumors ‏@mlbtraderumors Royals Designate Jonathan Sanchez For Assignment CCFH? I'm kidding, maybe.
  6. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) And another . Maybe he doesn't know the Sox have a song or 2. Your efforts to inform are appreciated.

    QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) He's gaining confidence and digging himself deeper. It seems perfectly reasonable. And a little drunk on the feeling of power from the killing of Gustavo.

    QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) Five awesome Breaking Bad Moments for Season 5. The Fring killing is the best death scene in the history of television. BTW, and apologies if it's been discussed, but where have I seen the sleazy guy who played the junkyard boss before? Love that dude!
  10. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) You don't like the old English B? Don't mind the B. The bland "Barons"-on-top-of-a-baseball logo is what I'm referring to primarily.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/cowley/1379...-scores-to.html Cowley is insufferable. Please just move to Miami already, Joe.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) I still like the Knights' one best. Elegant, fearsome, sharp. Other than the Barons' I think they're all cool. Though the phallic Dash logo is questionable. The Barons definitely need an update. It's the weakest by far.
  13. Kanny struck out 17 times tonight, ouch. 14 in 7 innings and 1 hit allowed by Greensboro's Charlie Lowell. Voyagers, best logo in the system?
  14. QUOTE (MAX @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) Seriously? What makes you believe that? A tear of the lowest grade? No doubt. Chicken Little's everywhere tonight.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) But does he have the desire to pitch in Chicago? Well no, probably not, because he's likely headed west regardless. But in the meantime, he'll do whatever he can to increase his value, which likely means heading to TX, where he IS a lock to pitch in the playoffs yet again. Meanwhile, you don't need to be tea-leaf reader to know why Hamels is appearing on many more teams' radar, and big markets are staying clear of ZG. Did you see the articles last week?
  16. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Are you sure Hamels has the desire to pitch in Chicago during a pennant race? You are aware that he's pitched in 5 consecutive post-seasons? A real shrinking violet that Hamels is.
  17. QUOTE (Carter224 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) Probably about as dumb as the people who think Viciedo is a lock to turn into a 35-40 HR hitter and Quintana is a sub 3 ERA pitcher.. Clearly, you're the one who doesn't watch much baseball. Um, noone has said anyone is a lock for anything. Look, if Hamels is the guy we go after, and it happens after he turns down $100M+ from the Phils, there's no way he's going to re-sign, when it's been rumored forever that he wants to return to SoCal. IF we trade DV, or anyone else that's contributing THIS year, it needs to be for a non-rental, or we need to have very strong indications that we can re-sign the acquisition. Meanwhile, even if the latter scenario plays out, the roster gets a lot more expensive, which will matter a lot if we don't win the WS. And the WS, or even a division title, wouldn't be a lock if we got Koufax.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) They had to do this in order to call up Humber, no biggie THe DL will be retro to his last start, which we'll coming up on 15 days for anyway after this weekend. So this may not be indicative of anything, correct?
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) Some positives from this one, for sure. But damn we need Paulie to get it going. By far the biggest problem right now, IMO.
  20. On the bright side, Axe pitched his ass off, and we got the first good news about Danks in forever. Just one game, fellas.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) PK not getting the job done. He's getting nonstop RBI opportunities, and cashing in virtually none.
  22. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) paulie is due Still, and seemingly forever.
  23. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) What did they do with the real Dylan Axelrod? Or the real Aaron Cook, for that matter.
  24. Porcello getting torched. 5-2 Angels.
