QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 06:55 PM) Tank!! Great approach on that pitch. Nah, we should platoon him.
-
Anyone else notice that the BoSox now have the two most elfin players in the game with Bridge and Buchholz?
-
O's tie it up. Valverde blows another.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) I've stabbed out many an eardrum out listening to Lester's "The NL is just as good" bit. I sometimes like to keep the radio on as background noise to go to sleep. After the first inning of the All Star game, that was out of the question for at least the rest of the week. It's almost as misplaced as his over the top Lakers and Celtics hate. All true, and you'd think that Shaq raped his daughter. Still, I find the guy entertaining and better than most of the radio dudes.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) They say he strained the same back muscle that Peavy tore. He is on the shelf for the foreseeable future That can't be good. FWIW, I recently saw Doc's little "shrine" at his alma mater, Arvada West HS, where they have his old jersey on display. The kid was huge, and more than a little fat. He really had to transform his body to become the great pro that he did.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) Flowers is still on our team? interesting... Funny, and a good reminder that with all this talk of pitching help, a new backup C could be a reality by month's end. Not really expecting it, though.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) When the Sox traded for Jackson his ERA was 5.16. Volquez is a similar style pitcher in that he has a good fastball, but has control problems. It would be nice if he was a workhorse, but at the time the Sox traded for Jackson they didn't have Peavy. At this moment, the Sox need quality innings more than just innings. Volquez is the best option aside from Hamels or Greinke. I'm going to agree with Marty here, insomuch as we're comparing two guys whose raw talent has never been questioned, but whose results have not always matched. And EJax hasn't exactly had a squeaky clean rep, with rumors of "smokiness", and the endless teamhopping that might have something to do with that. (Not that I would ever hold that against the man) And, well, I'll probably start a thread soon, but hasn't Coop proven to be worth every penny this year, and then some? Who else could steer this ship of toddlers so well?

Up until this year, I really thought Ozzie was a good mgr for handling pitching staffs, and run prevention (defensive emphasis) in general. Now, what I'm thinking is: Ozzie - Coop = 0

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 01:13 AM) Got pulled over by the cops for going 82 in a 70 on the way home and didn't get a ticket. So my luck held on dollar hot dog night. Good win. So he's at least 16, or 15 with a permit.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Have faith in Axelrod. He earned a bit tonight, I'll admit.

Yeah!! ...and good night.

That might be the play that wins it. One more.
-
One down.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 11:19 PM) I'd go for a deep fly out to CF Freakin' psychic tonight dude. So, do we hold on to the lead or blow it again?
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 11:21 PM) How about a 3 run bomb to Omaha.. Yes, a one-run lead probably isn't enough for this one.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 11:11 PM) Moose is a tough match up for DA. Any more sunshine and lollipops?
-
Ugh, great execution all around there.
-
Konerko is not a clean up hitter right now - hasn't been for awhile. Honest discussion of his health has to happen, doing nothing isn't working. Damn the Royals were so unbelievably lucky there. This game is officially the most frustrating of the season.
-
Paulie SO due for a big hit.
-
Earn another day on the roster, O-Dawg.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) Nice play by Beckham. Reed fails yet again. Huh? Only in a gamethread.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) Wow, that was definitely strike 3 on GB. irrelevant

Now, both teams have a lot to regret. Ugly game, but I still want the W.
