  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 09:22 AM) Dunn hasn't registered a number that low since 2006. Well at least until this year. Let's maybe give it a few more games .... DV hits two tonight, he's on pace for 70 - whoop de doo
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) Squirt, Kenny "The Genius" Williams scouted and signed Dunn. Whether you like it or not, he's responsible for him being on this roster. The contracts of Dunn, Rios, and Peavy are firable offenses. Just as Guillen missing the playoffs three consecutive years in a major market is a fireable offense. This is ridiculous. Dunn's contract was a relative bargain compared to the market. Might still be better than Werth's contract when all is said and dunn.
  3. Whatever happens with the front office changes in the offseason, it's been made pretty clear this year, to me at least, that KW doesn't have all of the roster control powers normally bestowed upon a GM. I'd like to see an explanation from JR of how things are designed to work in this org., but I won't hold my breath.
  4. Tomorrow's game may be meaningless afterall. This sucks.
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) 8-6 now. Let's make it easier for Santos.
  6. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) Bury a fastball in this asshole's ribs! We got this guy Shane Lindsay in the pen now. He's SO wild, we should be able to get in a few beanballs by accident.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) Shocked a Soxtalk approved lineup has 3 total bases against Verlander through 5. Do we have a record of a Marty post during the Cowley-Spiegel lovefest? That could prove he's not JoeC. Otherwise, I'm convinced.
  8. Reed's major league clock starts today. IMO, this guy is too good not to stick. Milb numbers stack up nicely with the Kimbrels and Storens' of the world. Can't wait to see him against the big leaguers. Lindsay is also intriguing in a goofy way - maybe Coop can teach him to throw more strikes.
  9. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) Cant complain w this lineup. Can the kids play? One of the better lineups I've seen for us in awhile.
  10. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Far be it from me to rain on anyone's parade, but the loss column means less than it normally does because we're playing two doubleheaders in September to "make up" some of those games we haven't played that Detroit has. The double-headers, if we're still in it after this weekend, will definitely be a test, of sorts, for the six-man rotation we've had most of the season. Humber and Stewart are starting Monday, I believe, and while they're not veterans by any means, this isn't their first start, and hopefully both give us a fighting chance.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) Tigers are amazing at coming back...Aaron Crow's ERA is around 2.5, but I swear he gets rocked whenever I watch him. Yeah this sucks. They've done it again, today. They've really seized it this past couple of weeks. It'll take a miracle sweep to have a real chance.
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 01:10 PM) If there is any pitcher that I'd want to go up against Verlander, Danks/Buerhle would be my choices. These two give us the best chance to win. Anyone disagree? Agree. Get it done, Danksy!
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) If you think Ramirez can get better good for you, but I wouldn't put any eggs in that basket. He's not nearly as bad as you seem to think he is, he's actually much better, and I do expect him to return to his career norms.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) Ramirez has passed the age where he's likely to get better. You mean like 35 y.o. Paulie is right before our eyes? Whatever, dude.
  15. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) Lexi gets himself out, tank can hit 5th You don't like Lexi, I get it. He's another guy I'd like to see work with someone besides Walker. Lexi's known to be coachable and a good listener.
  16. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) As for Ozzie's ideas about protecting Vic, the better solution may be to bat Viciedo 3rd and Konerko 4th. When Q comes back, yes, but for now I want him right behind PK.
  17. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Fire Guillen today before he asks for an extention again and makes me puke. Perhaps we'll get some off-day drama tomorrow - this festering boil on our team's ass is coming to a head and may explode soon. It won't be pretty.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) Wait a second, Rios' RBI single earlier in the game was part of the reason we still had a chance in the 9th. You should be more upset with Ramirez's 0fer in the 5-hole . . . Lexi's been jerked around by Ozzie more than anyone in the batting order. He hasn't been great, but he could benefit from a defined role at this point in his career, IMO. But really, with Quentin out, it's freakin' obvious who should be batting behind Konerko.
  19. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Vizquel did get a walk, thus cannot say that was a bad decision. Beckham isn't really lighting things up. The pinch running thing didn't really matter. But that wasn't the worst decision. Paulie is slow and coming off an injury ..thus he is super slow. Need somebody who could score from first on a double (2 outs so runner going with pitch). And you don't want to use one of your better pitchers like Buehrle or Danks to pinch run. However, with Rios at the plate and striking out...well I could have been the pinch runner is that situation. loL! Rios really should be batting 7th. Even TCM would be a better choice in the clean up position but I like the Tank there ..giving also Konerko some protection. I thought that they were going to pitch around PK in the ninth. That is what I would have done. He was the tying run at that point. They kind of did pitch around him in that the ball he hit down the RF line was well outside - they hoped for a strikeout after he swung badly at the strike 2 pitch.
  20. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) ^^ x infinity That last pitch was a hanger, a cookie, but Rios figured Nathan would try to get him to chase something bad at 0-2 and had his mind made up, because he's ALWAYS GUESSING!! Now, if DV was batting behind Konerko, and providing, VMart, Youk, etc., like protection. . .? Do you think the Tank would have taken that meatball? Konerko could well be more monster-like with some real protection, possibly, maybe? Ozzie, the maestro.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) No luck today on the hard hit balls. If that's a double down the line, new game. One of the biggest outs of the season, but no blaming TFlo. Kid's bustin' his ass. And DV just may be special.
  22. If you REALLY want to create a Frankenstein monster, do this!
