QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 10:14 PM) Chen has been crap since devouring the Sox two games in a row. Irrelevant. Liriano was about to be DL'ed/benched when he no-hit us.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Pierre - LF Vizquel - SS Konerko - DH Quentin - RF Pierzynski - C Rios - CF Dunn - 1B Beckham - 2B Morel - 3B Humber - P Wish it was De Aza, not Rios.
-
This start for Humber, and Stewart's on Friday, may go a long way to determine who'll be getting the innings while we have several days off for a few weeks of the schedule.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) For the love of god, can we please make Sale a starter soon? Can you imagine how bad Sale would make Dunn look?

Which players will be traded before Sunday at 4 pm

QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) the sox organization is frustrating me. almost wish i could give up being a fan Tough times. Hang in there. There seems to be an unwarranted resistance to change throughout the org, and too much comfort all around. I share your frustration, but a positive turnaround could be quicker than we anticipate. -
Rios much more despicable with his overall effort. Ozzie continues to assist greatly in Dunn's suckitude - Rios is a free range bum.

Braves settled - Bourn won't help that much. Counting on pitching to carry them past better teams. Could happen, but probably won't.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) No on Born. No on Quentin being here past Sunday. His value will never be higher than it is right now, imo. I don't think Q gets moved unless Phils don't get Pence, and the Phils really seem to be all-in on Pence.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) Minor is a lot like Buehrle from a stuff perspective. I don't know whether Minor will have the ridiculous ability to locate and keep guys off balance, like Buehrle has. Buehrle succeeds for a lot of reasons beyond "pitchability", and he is one of the most unique successful pitchers in modern baseball history. To hope that anyone with "Buehrlesque stuff" could become as good as the genuine article is long odds indeed.

I've watched Dom Brown a lot lately, and I guess you could say I like what I've read better than what I've seen. Very toolsy, but a longish swing that may never hit for a high average in the majors. I'm well aware he's not a finished product.

QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) bases loaded no out for LA hopefully they put this one away Now 12-6. Looks good.
-
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Detroit coming right back against the Angels...were down 7-2 now its 7-6 Top of the 5th inning only - quite the slugfest. The Tigers have a Pen that is bound to be overworked before too long. Gotta believe they'll acquire a starter or reliever(s) with only 3 reliable SP's heading down the stretch.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) That's who it was. They don't want to take on more salary when their top priority is keeping Pujols. Sale alone could have more value than Rasmus within the next year or so. Time will tell. -
Hawk is a polarizing figure to be sure. There's boatloads to criticize, with umpiring complaints at the top of the list for me. However, if you have the Extra Innings package or you're a frequent traveller to other MLB towns, you may realize that he's rather good at his job from an entertainment standpoint. There's SO much blandness out there it's numbing.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) i remember once. and he ditched the first baseman's mitt for his own glove. You're right, I looked it up. It was his only time at 1st in his whole career, actually. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) Viciedo if he was here. Does Flowers have any experience there? Morel? Omar played 1B a few times this year already. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) Cowley was speculating that KW is bringing in TLR next season and having Rasmus would derail that. I dont agree, I think the cards wanted a player that we didnt want to give up. If that player was Sale, good move KW! Sale has ACE potential if a transition to starter goes smoothly. -
Twins take 2 of 3 in Texas after allowing 20 runs Monday. It would be just like those lucky zombie bastards to win a division with a -50 run differential. No way you can count em out.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) I suspect that Jerry actually appreciates this. It's called integrity and is a very valued trait in the professional world. Not to sound condescending or anything - I'm just saying. I don't disagree. I'm one of the few still in KW's corner. Just thought the wording might get an eye-roll or chuckle from the guy who actually writes the checks.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) 3rd highest wOBA of any 3B in the game this season, right behind #2 and well ahead of #4. You can say what you want about his D but his last 2 months have put him right there with the elite 3B in the game offensively (Youk and A-Rod). He fits the bill of a huge offensive upgrade where we need it most, and it's only a rental plus buyout. Wouldn't shock me. It's certainly an "all-in" move, though I can see aforementioned flip-side as it's another quick fix/band-aid.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) Kuhn had 2 doubles, and also had 2 OF assists, one at 3B and one at home. Cool. Saladino is becoming an interesting prospect due to a very healthy ISO. Maybe he's our 3B in a few seasons.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) I apologize if this has already been asked, but what do you think it would've taken for the Sox to have acquired Rasmus. Jackson + ? + ? + ? Primarily, IMO, just a stronger desire to have him here. I agree with those saying we're being extra careful with attitude issues after the Rios debacle. JR may have put his foot down. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) Will Ohman's having an excellent season. Lefties are hitting .200/.279/.309/.588 off him with a 4.00 k/bb and 32% of their PA against him end in a K. Overall he has a 1.18 WHIP and a 9.77 K/9, he's doing exactly what he was brought in to do. First impressions are really a b****. There were folks here still berating Sale up until the last week or so. April was a long time ago. -
Kenny quote from today: "Here's what I told Ozzie: 'Do not worry about the size of the contracts,'" Williams said. "Just worry about putting the players out there on a given day that can help him win. The size of the contract is not Ozzie's problem. It's not [owner] Jerry [Reinsdorf's] problems. It's not the coaches' problems. That's my problem." The Chairman may have coughed up his breakfast reading this.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) I think we'll take 2 of 3 from BOS, only because we seem incapable of sweeping anyone and Ozzie is bound to leave Humber in there for 3 too many batters in a low scoring game against Lester. What does that do to the tradescape? IF we get those 2 of 3 from BOS, that will be 5 of 6 for the season. Hard to argue that we'd have NO chance in the playoffs if we can do that to the AL's best team.
