  1. i'm probably the only one thinking this but Broadway has good mound presense, i like his composure when his team is throwing piles of poo at him, he's still battling.
  2. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) They had this pitch at 100MPH ? off the bat
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) We've got to retaliate. Here comes the fight today in Game 3. i have a hard time believing that HBP was intentional, given CQ's history of more/less nailing himself
  4. didn't expect much there from paulie should've been an error in the top of the inning, cost us a run. then he cant get a simple base hit to tie the game, sheesh.. have a day Konk
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) No, Carlos should not change a thing at the plate. Yeah, you're right. Let's watch him hit the DL with a bruise the size of a softball on his bicep. He doesn't even try to move, he just stands there.
  6. i'd rather not see CQ get hit by anymore fastballs this year. he needs to move a bit, he's going to end up regretting this.
  7. http://www.baseball-intellect.com/Articles...kham-swing.html nice read. i like the mechanical comparisons of his swing to A-Rod
  8. advanced scouting report from mlb.com: QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) It's a lot harder to find a good SS than a 2B, if Alexei could handle SS then it opens up a whole lot more options for this team next year. If you leave him at 2B then you have to go out and find a starting SS which isn't exactly easy. I think Alexei's range and arm strength are fine for playing SS. It's also his natural position. He's shown off his range and arm numerous times this year, wow'ing a lot of us on many occasions
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) I look at this year a little differently. If someone told you March 30th that as of 8/13: Both Buerhle and Vazquez would be below .500 Bobby Jenks would have 22 strikeouts Scott Linebrink would miss over 1 month of the season There would be more than a couple posts that Octavio Dotel shouldn't be used in close games Nick Swisher would commonly be refered to as "dirty .230" Paul Konerko could only wish he was hitting .230 Joe Crede's back would go out again and Juan Uribe would be the 3rd baseman Jim Thome didn't hit the first 2 1/2 months Wasserman,Russell,Carrasco,Broadway would all be recalled from Charlotte. Contreras would be hurt. Win 7 games and be lost for the season. Horacio Ramirez would be acquired because Boone Logan was horrible. Cabrera would have several issues with teammates and management. I don't think anyone would say first place was even a remote possibility. Everyone mentions the Sox faults, and obviously there are many. A lot of people are afraid of the Twins, and maybe rightfully so, but everytime they grab first place, the Sox take it right back. This team is different. They haven't got all the breaks. i think someone has in their signature "A bad team is going to win the AL Central. Let's hope it's the Sox", it's been pretty accurate even up to this point, who knows what'll happen to either of these teams if they make the playoffs... they say anything can happen.
  10. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) If you are going to make bold predictions, be able face the music when they are wrong. The music = Trollers? Ok. What about the previous game where I stated the game was over, and took flak from a few posters for making that prediction. Guess what, Tony? I didn't come back with the adolescent "I told you so!" posts for those who said we were going to win that game when we DID end up losing. Some of the people here, seriously. Visit the chat sometime, I'm definitely not the only person who feels this way about this place. You guys have more posters who care more about 1-upping people who make false predictions, than they care about the games, or their fellow Sox fans. That's a joke, IMO.
  11. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) LOL. we knew he wouldn't give us a chance, huh? 8 IP, one walk, 10 strikeouts, 0 runs. it sounds like he gave us a great chance, i.e., you were wrong. whoops, indeed. Looks like you just troll through the threads to find predictions that end up being wrong, just to get your jollies. Congratulations, I'm glad you value your time. What a joke. Javy's sucked this year. The fact that you're not disputing that fact, and instead are just fishing for the "I proved you wrong" arguement, just proves you're a troll. I have the right as does anyone to make predictions, right or wrong. Do us all a favor here and add something else to the conversations besides "LOL U WERE WRONG". Child.
  12. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) whoops. there's a reason his ERA is still 4.5 after throwing what... 8 innings of shutout ball? it's because... wait for it he hasn't been very good this year whoops? not quite.
  13. what a game by Javy, hopefully he can put up starts like this against the better teams too i had my doubts going into the game (i'm sure i'm not the only one), but he kicked the royals ass hard is Carrasco pitching tomorrow? i guess Quentin will miss another game
  14. why the f*** is Swisher in LF and Griffey in CF? shouldn't they be flipped?? unreal.
  15. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 05:49 PM) While he's been scuffling for more than 2 months now he's had many more than 1 good starts this year. he was pretty good at the beginning of the year, he fell flat on his face right around the beginning of June and has sucked for the most part ever since (outside of his starts against the A's, and ironically KC)
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) You can have my title of Mr. Pessimism. apparently it's not OK to say the things we're all thinking. give me a flippin' break. you, and everyone else on this entire board has been on Javy's ass for the amount of sucking he's done outside of maybe one start, over the course of the entire year forgive me if I don't buy into the belief that Javy will have a good game string together 3-4 games then I'll start having some confidence
