Yes, you are correct you could have considered Shane Drohan a prospect. The difference here is you included him on your list of good young SP prospects we have, and literally 7 days after your post the White Sox cut him.
-
I don't understand your trolling here. Shane Drohan was a Rule 5 draft pick who threw a whole 9 innings for the White Sox minor leagues. You included him in your list of "legit" pitching prospects we have. You claimed Matthew Thompson wasn't a prospect, I corrected you because you were wrong. Please note I never said he was legit or a top prospect, only that a 23 year old in AA should be considered prospect. Shouldn't you be lurking for SS2K5 posts to argue over?

I just don't see how they get to 50 wins. The pitching staff is bad, the offense is bad, and they haven't done anything to improve the worst roster in baseball history. Sportsbooks aren't making the over/under 49.5 if its going to be really hard for them to win less than 50 games, that's not how it works.

White Sox hire Phil Nevin as Special Assistant in Player Development
T R U replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A good example, go look at our current 40 man roster. There is not one good major leaguer on that thing outside of Luis Robert and even that depends on who you ask around here. This organization is just in the dumps from top to bottom and how they go, the fan base goes unfortunately. -

Getz aside, my main point was we had back to back 100 loss season for the first time ever (including the worst season in MLB history) so the mood and discussion around here is just not going to be in the majority positive. Its hard to have an actual discussion when our roster is trash, there is nothing worth discussing about Austin Slater being an improvement over Gavin Sheets in RF. Like who gives a f***, there is no positive way to spin that. The best thing for all of us is to see plenty of the kids this season and them to show promise. Then we will have way better things to discuss. Right now, its optimist trying to sell Mike Tauchman and Bryse Wilson as some sort of reason why this team is going to win 55 games, I mean come on. -

This team has been in a downward spiral since Tony LaRussa took over. They are literally the worst team in baseball and continue to make dumbass moves. The majority of everyone is pissed off, and rightfully so. There is not really much positive to discuss here. I miss the days when the White Sox just won 80ish games every year and we at least had hope they would put it together next season. What we have now, f*** that man. -
There’s no way they were trying to tank. Getz has no business being a GM, that’s not his fault though it’s the owners fault for looking at his decaying organization and refusing to do the hard reboot that was needed. We were told it wasn’t a rebuild, we were told that we were owed not wasting any time and yet here we are today as the worst team in baseball history. I would be much more patient and understanding had they just done the right thing from the beginning but we just got fed a load of crap. This team won’t be good this year, and won’t be good next year. Again, would love to be proven wrong but I work for a man who has a great saying “crash jobs usually do.”
-
How long is your rope? Getz took over made a bunch of crappy trades and bad FA signings which lead to the disaster of 2024. Now, the Crochet trade was good in my opinion but here we are again trading away young arms for older nothing players trying to patch holes on a talentless team. This offseason has almost been a carbon copy of last year the only difference being a slightly better trade of our #1 pitcher. I would love to see my favorite team be good again, we’re just doing the same s%*# that didn’t work last year.
-
I literally just wanted to hear why he thought this team is better than last years team since he didn’t elaborate in his original post. I don’t need to argue with anyone here, in fact I find it kinda of dumb at this point in my life we’re all here because we’re all Sox fans so it’s kind of funny how much a lot of people here hate each other.

CWS Acquire Reliever Cam Booser from BOS
T R U replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Soxtalk when the White Sox add another 30 something nobody who doesn’t do anything for the future of this organization: Guys he has like 5 years of control and was pretty good in 6 innings last year. We’ll flip him at the deadline. -
This is a message board, I’m interested in seeing why he thought this team would win 50 or more games. I wasn’t looking for someone to “change my mind”.
-
Yeah aren’t you the guy who included Shane Drohan as one of our legit pitching prospects in that same discussion lol.
-
Oh they definitely didn't go into the season trying to lose that's for sure. I was one of those people who saw all the "This team is going to be historically bad" posts last offseason and thought there was too much talent on the roster for that to happen. Im not going to make that same mistake again this year, these guys will need a horseshoe up their ass to get 50 wins.
-
I don’t think they’ll win less than 41 games but they certainly haven’t done anything that makes me think they win 50+ games. Like I said, this roster is just as shitty as last seasons.
-
Mike Tauchman being a complementary player on a good team is not the same as Mike Tauchman being arguably your best hitter sans Robert. I think its ridiculous to even suggest the rotation is improved with the loss of Crochet. Who is your starting 5 right now? This is a worse team than last years team right now, I still haven't seen anyone provide any reasoning why they will be better other than hopes and dreams.
-
Ok so even with a 7 win improvement they are still at 48 wins. They have done nothing to improve this roster in any meaningful way yet, sorry but Mike Tauchman aint it.
-
Can you explain why? This team has no starting pitching, no bullpen, and most likely no offense when Robert is inevitably moved. They will have a roster full of kids who need to develop and AAAA level players. This, somehow, is going to be a worse roster than the 41 win team they put on the field last season.
-
I think its crazy the Mets sign a player for $700+ million dollars but balk at trading away two prospects. Crazy.
-
Yeah I didn’t mean this week, I just meant this season at some point.
-
Definitely, I would say he needs to be gone by the 2025 deadline. If there is nothing good offered now, roll the dice and hope he performs the first half to build that value back.
-
Robert has to be traded, this roster has now been stripped down to the studs (or duds if you will) with the exception of Robert. You never hold on to him for the next painful 2-3 years. He has to go.
-
Wonderful trade. Also LOL at the thought the Sox created Crochet. He practically had to demand to be a starting pitcher.

Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
T R U replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In 80 AAA games his call up year he slashed .282 / .377 / .823 and was 22 years old. What more did they need to see from him down there? -

But Moncada was a AA player who was major league ready. There is no fool proof plan here. -
If Juan Soto can get $765 million today, in 5 years he will be 31 and if he continues to produce like he has I would imagine he could get a lot more than he just got yesterday if he opts out. Might not be that crazy a thought.
