How are we not, were going into next season with one starting pitcher and he has looked like hot garbage recently. They wont spend the money to fill 4 spots with competent arms. Its going to be bad.

This is a great post. How much wasted money is going to be spent on patches to a 100 loss team with a mirage of competing in 2024/2025? Not to mention the decline in value of whatever assets we could have traded at higher returns. The only positive I can see is, this team is almost surely a 90+ loss team again next season so maybe they pull the plug on the competing shtick sometime next season. I would be concerned if they had a chance to be middling around 81-81 but they are so bad the rebuild hand will probably be forced.

What you are saying should happen is not something that the owner of the White Sox would ever allow to happen.

I don't think there is anyone who would rather have Moncada over Burger. The problem with this scenario is the White Sox are stuck with Moncada for a minimum of one more season and their boneheaded roster construction left them with only Burger as a realistic trade option. This idea that the White Sox are going to move on from Moncada seems to be pretty wishful thinking to me. They aren't going to cut him. No one is going to trade for him and just take on his salary. Were stuck with this guy for at least another season unless he is traded for a salary swap and those options are probably pretty slim.

Its sickening that he is going to be back next season. This team has completely quit on him, you can't bring that guy back. You just cant.

I like that he was moved. I don’t believe in him as a player and would much rather have the chance of a starting pitcher.

The best thing for this organization would have been to conduct a REAL search to allow some outside person a year to evaluate the organization. Instead, were going to try to compete next season with an unqualified GM, a terrible roster, and while not spending any money. Good luck assholes.

I think he has to. If he Opts out, he gets $4 million and if he has a strong finish will almost surely get another contract that, along with the $4 million from opt out, would exceed what he would make if he opts in.

I think you can safely speak for all fans with this point. This team failed miserably and the solution was to fire the guys in charge and promote another guy who is just as ingrained in that failure as the guys who were just fired. Its bullshit.
