  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) Henry, Cousins, and Wall are all top 10 players nationally and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Wall is a Tyreke Evans level player next year. They also have Nolan Dennis who is a top 40 guy on the RSCI coming in as well as a couple of 4 star Juco guys. Juco guys almost never produce at high levels but they have a ton of talent coming in. Of course they have to land Wall first for this discussion to even matter. I said they would need 3 Rose/Evans caliber players. I highly doubt all 3 of those guys are that elite considering there are less than 3 of those each season.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 02:58 AM) OSU came close a couple years ago. That was with Greg Oden and I think OSU had more vets than Memphis will have. Taggert, Mack and Sallie? Not bad, but not national title caliber vets.
  3. QUOTE (Nokona @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 12:39 AM) States already have a League set up with Central America, you can catch the games on FSC. They're usually of a higher quality than the MLS. The problem is that South America has a different governing body. We're in CONCACAF. They're in something else. Europe is in UEFA, etc. CONMEBOL
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 26, 2009 -> 11:43 PM) I disagree. If John Wall signs, (and it's looking more and more like the only thing that can keep that from happening is if Evans comes back) they should be even better next year. How good can a team really be with a bunch of freshman though? Unless they are landing 3 Evans/Rose caliber recruits, I don't see it.
  5. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 02:02 AM) So why doesn't anyone use their brain and say Memphis isn't that good? Everyone knows their conference is ok at best so none of those wins will garner much respect from me, at least when you are talking about getting a #1 seed. But seriously, Memphis hasn't beaten anyone I respect. Their best wins are Gonzaga (who only has notable wins over bubble team Maryland, 7th best place in the Big 12 Oklahoma State, and twice over 10-6 in the SEC Tennessee compared to losses to bubble team Arizona, Portland St. and Utah), Tennessee (10-6 in the SEC as I said, not impressed at all) and then what? Seton Hall? Cincinnati? Those are atrocious 'good' wins. About as bad as any team in the top 4 seeds. Now let's look at their losses. Xavier, @Georgetown and Syracuse (in Memphis). Georgetown isn't a bad loss, but not exactly a good one. It's also pretty fair to say Xavier and Syracuse are the best 2 teams on Memphis' schedule, and Memphis lost, on a neutral site and at home. So can someone actually come up with a good reason why Memphis is one of the top 8 teams in the country? Oh thank goodness it was my Missouri Tigers that prevented me from looking like an ass.
  6. Man it feels good to expose Memphis. I've been talking s*** on them for a while. Evans is a superstar though. Man, he was good. With Dozier, Evans and Anderson gone they are gonna be in trouble next year. I know they have an amazing recruiting class coming in and they will probably still destroy the C-USA, but I think Memphis is gonna slide down a bit next year.
  7. Sick 1st half for Mizzou. Please expose Memphis for 20 more minutes Mizzou.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 09:48 AM) Or they could fund the established academys in South America and then try and get them to sign before they even go to clubs like Boca Juniors, etc. The key is the US money with the South American talent. Where is this money going to come from?
  9. Apparently Bradley hit a 70 footer at the buzzer to win their quarterfinal against Oakland. Kinda cool.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) Patty Mills is spectacular. Damn shame he got hurt. St. Mary's is better than probably half the schools that actually made the tourney. Yeah, really is a shame. Both of these guys could come back so maybe they can make the tournament more interesting than the chalk fest we've seen this year. Mills has 17 at the half, Curry with 11. Curry finished with 26 with 9 boards and 6 assists. Mills had 23 with 10 assists to only 1 turnover. I hope they both comeback to make the tourney next year.
  11. Davidson @ St. Mary's is about to start. This is going to be tournament quality basketball. 2 pro guards against each other.
  12. QUOTE (Cubano @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) Stop crying about injuries and such. The Soccer World Cup is the best thing in the planet. The best players compete and nobody cries like MLB teams. Maybe there is a reason baseball has faling behind others sports in popularity. I don't think baseball has fallen in popularity recently. Soccer is different because of the nature of the sports. Baseball is something you can only be in shape for by playing competitive baseball. The World Cup is right at the beginning of the club offseason. Pitchers are fried by the end of the regular season as is, so they can't do that for baseball. As a result, the players aren't at their peaks right now. I think my major problem with the WBC is that the format is atrocious. Why do they have these stupid 1/2 placement games at the end of each pool? It doesn't matter that much. Get rid of those, let the first to advance to get the top seed, and replace them with a college regional format for the semis. They can still get their championship game if they so desire, but baseball isn't meant for single elimination. The sport isn't consistent enough for that.
  13. Mizzou took 2 of 3 against top 10 A&M. After an awful non-conference season, the Tigers went 3-3 at Texas and now vs the Aggies. Very solid.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) I stand by my statement, if the Big 12 is as good as it claims, they should have 3 teams in the Sweet 16 and 2 in the Elite 8. If they can accomplish that, theyll get all the credit they deserve. Phase 2 completed. 3 teams in the Sweet 16. A&M got slaughtered, but Ok. St. and Texas put up damn good fights against heavy favorites. 6 of the top 32 and 3 of the sweet 16, pretty good for one conference. The Big East does have five teams in the Sweet 16, that's ridiculous. Still, the Big 12 is doing well for themselves.
  15. Geezus Mizzou. That was way too hard. Marquette's scorers were just ridiculous. James was just added depth as expected, but it didn't hurt. Hard to immediately look ahead, but I would love nothing more than to have Mizzou be the team to knock out Memphis. They're gonna have to play better than this.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 02:59 PM) I could never root for Wisconsin due to their style. I understand that a lot of Big 10 teams play this abominable style of running shot clock and not scoring points, but they take it to an extreme. I agree completely. At least when they had Harris or Tucker they had studs that were fun to watch. This team is horrifying to watch.
  17. I'm not sure what's sadder, the fact that I forgot about the draft or the fact that I didn't realize this until last night.
  18. I just wish Gonzaga hadn't been gift wrapped a 4 seed. Their best win is Oklahoma State. Get the f*** out of here. That team sucks. ESPN can applaud them for barely beating a mid-major 12 seed, but it shows Gonzaga's level of play. UNC should slaughter them with ease.
  19. Dominic James got cleared to play against Mizzou. Can't imagine he'll do much, but even a mediocre 15 minutes from him will help their depth. They're gonna need it. Link
  20. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 21, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) Just because he lost a game he sucks at coaching? Why not give Wisconsin credit? FSU has a young team and they will be back. I didn't really mean it that way, but he really does suck at coaching. Florida State has had talent for years and this is the first time they've come close to living up to it. Granted, they have a ton more talent than previous years, but I have 0 respect for Hamilton as a game coach.
  21. QUOTE (The Bones @ Mar 21, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) Surprised no one has mentioned Wisconsin's OT win over FSU yet. Second best game of the tournament so far behind tOSU and Siena's double OT thriller. Last night was damn entertaining. Leonard Hamilton sure can recruit, but man does he suck at coaching.
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 11:24 PM) Blowing it early isn't something I'm as familiar with as you. Oh wow, original comeback there. That's about as cool as you using kiddo.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) I think Wake's done, kiddo. I don't even think you got my joke. Oh well.
  24. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) Thank you Cleveland State for giving me my upset special and ruining a lot of other brackets. Haha I see you already took out Robert Morris and Wake from the subtitle. Are you always premature?
  25. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) This dude has Arizona over Cleveland State in the second round. I have Wake over Arizona and I still like mine better.
