  1. I just think there are enough guys in AAA who busted with great stuff and never got better. How many guys skip AAA anyway? It's a sizable number, but I don't think it's a majority.
  2. Sick finish on that 3-pt play by Rose. I have no idea how Gordon didn't get an and 1 himself though. Whatever, great win. Huge win. Avoid the Cavs, now let's avoid the Celts.
  3. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) The only thing I can think of is that it is widely considered that AA has the most talent, so they want to make it mainly 5 game series so scouts have more opportunity to look at players in a series. I don't think AA has the best talent. That level might have more prospects, but AAA has talented guys that are a bit older.
  4. I don't want to witness Jerry Owens batting at the Major League level anymore.
  5. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) We walk 9 and still win, I'll take it. All starters with at least one hit. Half our hits were for extra bases. CQ, Dye, and Paulie all trying to out do each other. 24 runs in the last 3 games with only 7 allowed. Lets give Danks some run support tomorrow. Love the avatar. I saw that on gameday and cracked up. Lillibridge looks like a 12-year-old who has a dirt mustache before his first time shaving.
  6. 4-3. First win streak of the year, let's make it a long one. Sick job by the offense and Quentin is back.
  7. Who calls 911 for a goat? Also, anyone know why there is no gun for the Cubs game today? I wanted to see Jimenez with the gun, but I haven't seen a reading for either pitcher yet. Does WGN not have a gun and I'm losing my mind?
  8. His voice was great for NFL Films. I loved the way he said Jimmy Rollins.
  9. QUOTE (tommy @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) I don't think I'm ready for an Apple yet! I would vote against an Apple. I've had a Macbook Pro for a couple years and have had nothing but problems with it. It sickens me that it cost more money. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) Honestly, I was the same way until I bought one, sat down and used it for a few weeks. Now I can do either OSX or Windows without skipping a beat, they're both literally that easy after you give them a chance. I'm not a typical Mac guy that hates Windows, I can honestly use either or...and most of the problems you run into with either OS are user created more so than operational problems. I think that's pretty accurate. I don't even see them as that different anymore.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 01:02 AM) Becks has started the season off by hitting a sizzling .444 with a 1.056 OPS with the AA Birmingham Barons. He'll be in Charlotte soon enough. Through 4 games, he's 8 for 18 with 2 2B, 3 RBI, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strike outs. No home runs yet, but he's gotten a hit in all 4 games thus far. Good chance he skips Charlotte.
  11. Escobar has been hitting leadoff for Kanny. He's off to a slow start, 2-13. He has 1 walk against 6 strikeouts and was caught stealing in his only attempt so far.
  12. Everyone off the ledge. It's probably going to be an up and down season, but this team isn't terrible.
  13. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Everybody in the minors is unproven, including Poreda. There are levels of that though. Poreda has pitched well in AA, a big separator of prospects, and none of the guys you are referring to have yet. Unless we are talking about a first rounder or a guy with superior stuff, it's hard to assume they make it to the bigs before they show success above A ball.
  14. I disagree, none of the guys other than Poreda can be slotted into a future White Sox rotation. They are all far too unproven at this point.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 03:53 AM) As far as I'm concerned, if you drive drunk, you have full intentions of killing someone, whether you actually do or not. Nah, that's not explicit enough for the phrase murder. It's not like vehicular manslaughter is a light charge. This guy is going to get f'd.
  16. Not sure if this has been posted here before, but I would love it if everyone in Soldier Field wore these for the home opener. http://tweedlet.com/
  17. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) So he should cut down on K's and have more groundouts or flyouts just to lower his BABIP? Well if you want to make it sound like that, sure. A strikeout is always an out. Groundballs and flyballs have a chance to be hits. This isn't a complicated concept. I'm not saying he isn't a prospect or is always going to strikeout a lot. I'm just saying I'm a little worried that his strikeouts are so high.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) Jon Garland, I mean Jeff Marquez, got lit up it appears. Maybe a poor man's Garland. Marquez is 24 and yet to make his Major League debut. By 24, Garland had 3 full seasons in the Majors under his belt.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) Hopefully those last two runs don't come back to haunt us...thanks, BA. Really? RISP w/2 outs are supposed to score every time?
  20. I'm not pushing the panic button on Danks. I'm just pointing it out. Something to watch. He could be pressing to add that power that scouts were surprised he didn't develop in college.
  21. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) I think his BABIP is high because when he is putting the ball in play, he's hitting it extremely hard. In other words, not seeing-eye hits that are the normal warning sign of impending regression. That's been proven to be unreasonable to maintain though. Either he cuts down on the strikeouts or he's in trouble. That's all I'm saying.
  22. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) In 40 career at-bats? 49 now, and yes I understand, but still. The strikeouts are really high and the BABIP is really high making it hard to imagine a complete turn around.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) That's a pretty cynical way to look at the world, when all you're running on is an assumption. Maybe, but do you really believe Boras cares that much about Adenhart when he has tons of clients? I just find it impossible for him to have a strong enough relationship with all of them to weep uncontrollably.
  24. For the statheads out here: Jordan Danks has a .500 BABIP in the minors. I'm scared for regression to the mean unless he cuts down on those strikeouts.
