  1. If you look at the splits for Charlotte and Birmingham you'll notice that while the smaller parks help power they kill average and therefore OBP so Sweeney having a higher OBP on the road is the norm.

  3. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) You are right in a way, but considering the fact that he was drafted last year, he's pretty far ahead compared to most people in his draft class, and I dont know how you can say "expected eventually", making it sound as if he's far behind in his development. That's true, but I didn't mean he was far behind in his development. He is one of those guys (like McCulloch) that is expected to tear through the minors. I'm not going to get gitty over him until he does well in the Majors.
  4. Ok, I'm a Broadway fan but one start at AAA means very little. It's nice start, but success at AAA was expected eventually.

  9. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) dang, hes had incredible numbers with very good peripherals to back them up....interesting prospect...certainly one to keep an eye on, he is 22 years old, so he probably shoulda been to AA by now anyways, but ill be watchin him He's 23. Last year he pitched for Kanny and had average numbers. 3.71 ERA in 36 appearances with 2 starts. 62 K, 32 BB, 84 hits in 80 IP. He's far better in just about every way this year and repeated the dominance at Winston-Salem which puts him on the radar. If he can do well to finish the year at Birmingham he might get a look in Spring Training if the team is desperate for a reliever. I mean if Boone Logan could win a spot out of nowhere, Perez can. That said I don't know anything about him.

Roberts and Ricks (average at .312) 2-4. Clayton Richard moved up to Winston-Salem and pitched 6 IP, 5 R (3 ER), 4 K, 1 BB, 6 hits. Box Score Kanny lost 4-2. Cunningham 3-4 with a RBI. Brooks 6 IP, 2 R, 3 K, 2 BB, 5 hits. Box Score Great Falls lost 9-3. Cruz and Grace with 2 hits each. Carter 0-3 with 3 K and a run, average down to .298. Box Score Bristol lost 12-3. Box Score
  11. Zona scored in the top of the 18th, but the Rockies have the leadoff man on. 2-1 btm 18.
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) Either way, you should definitely pencil him in for the Barons rotation next season. I assume they'll handle McCullough just like they did Lance Broadway. Could be a very nice AA rotation again next season with the likes of McCullough, Russell (good to see him have a nice start tonight BTW), Whisler, Harrell and Egbert. Leaving Liotta and Ryan Rodriguez where? Whisler is pitching well enough and old enough that he might find his way into Charlotte's rotation next year. Russell might slot into the pen if he doesn't improve, the Sox have moved a few guys into the pen at AA (LaMura is the only one I can think of now). That said, the only guy I'm expecting in Charlotte is Whisler. The Sox might leave one of Liotta or Rodriguez in Winston-Salem or move one of them to the pen the way they are going. Also, I just noticed LaMura got the win tonight against Birmingham. He's still putting up filthy K and H/9 numbers. On the late season promotion front Lucy is in Birmingham, I wonder if the Sox moved up all the catchers (Ricks caught yesterday in W-S) because of Stewart's injury.
  13. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) I hate it. Yeah the new scoreboard graphic is awful.
  14. Charlotte lost 5-1. Phillips 5 IP, 4 R. Box Score Birmingham lost 3-2. Lopez 2-4 with a run. Russell 6 IP, 2 R, 7 K, 4 BB, 3 hits. Box Score Winston-Salem won 5-1. Roberts 3-4 with HR #2 and SB #7. Ricks 2-3, 2B, BB, R. McCulloch 6 IP, 1 R, 4 K, 0 BB, 7 hits. Marshall and Hernandez combine for 3 innings of hitless relief. Box Score Kanny lost 6-5. Gomes 2-3, 2B, 3B, RBI, 2 R, BB. Castillo 2-3, 2B, R, BB. Box Score Great Falls lost 3-0. The Sox only had 2 hits, 0 BB, and were struck out 17 times. That's some impressive pitching. Cassel 3 IP, 0 R, 1 K, 0 BB, 4 hits in the start. Box Score Bristol lost 14-3. Box Score
  15. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Who is the last foreign player that we have signed as a kid and made an impact in the majors? Iguchi doesnt count as he was never in the system and the Sox did nothing to develop him into what he is. Maggs and Carlos Lee. It's pretty absurd to include hitters though. The system's ability to produce hitters shouldn't be in question. Maggs, Carlos, Crede, Rowand, and I'll throw in Anderson as guys that have turned into good Major Leaguers. That's a solid crop with a few more on the way possibly.
  16. Sutton torching the Badgers.

Edwards 6.2 IP, 3 R, 3 K, 3 BB, 6 hits. Box Score
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) I didn't think I was being all that vague. You're telling me you've never heard/suspected anything about Rowand and the possibility of performance enhancing drugs? You can basically infer the same things about Rowand that you can for Rodriguez. And this is about as far as I'm going to go on this, conversations on this subject especially involving Rowand never end well. Fair enough. I've never heard anyone out and out say they believe Rowand did steroids. I've heard people say they heard it from someone. Therefore I lead it to be Cub fan crap. I'm not saying he didn't, I don't really care. Never heard a real accusation. After all, he's Aaron Rowand, who cares?
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Depends on who you ask. Quit the annoying big man vague crap. Tell us what's on your mind. Being vague and sounding like you know it all isn't fooling anyone. Now that that's out of the way what the heck are you talking about?
  20. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) Where'd you get these numbers? I'm seeing different ones from this. Here
  21. Owens' BA and OBP by month: April: .247/.301 May: .231/.292 June: .280/.345 July: .322/.412 August: .310/.355 (through games of August 11)
  22. Charlotte lost 9-6. Fields 2-4 with HR #17 and 2 K. Redding and Logan had rough days. Box Score Birmingham lost 7-2. Malone with an ugly start. Box Score Winston-Salem lost 4-3. Hansen with HR #14. Cook 3-4. Egbert 7 IP, 4 R. Box Score Kanny lost 9-1. Metheny 3-4. Box Score Great Falls lost 7-4. Gilbert, Madsen, Marrero 2 hits each. Box Score Bristol lost 18-5 (14 run 3rd inning). Espinal 3-3 with a HR. Box Score
  23. Might as well bring up Tracey and Logan too. Extra arms don't hurt. Ozzie can use them for blowouts.
  24. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) I'm not saying top 10 Alex, but he at least has to be considered in the top 20. His numbers before tonight were just plain sick, and that was only like his 4th or 5th start. He's mostly been a reliever. And I shouldn't even point out that he just turned 20 this year. His numbers as a reliever are damn good even though he does struggle as a starter. He still should be on the list, maybe top 15. Rice has great numbers and 20 is the right age for Kanny. However, he has control concerns. All that said, I find it hard to consider minor league relievers prospects until they succeed in AA. How many times have we seen guys dominate the minors as relievers and then struggle in the bigs? If Rice is going to be a starter, and show success as a starter, he'll find himself on one of our lists soon enough. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) He actually is a lot higher than some would think...I think he's ahead of a once highly touted lefty pitching prospect that is ranked lower than Dan would like (Liotta). As of now I would probably rate Whisler ahead of Liotta, but I'm still not sold on Russell being ahead of Liotta. At this point I'm just going to post my own list so I can take my name off the FutureSox one lol.
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) Vince Young sprained his ankle in the 4th quarter when he was scrambling, got hit and just threw the ball into the air (horrid pass). That sounds like his entire pro career to be. When men are tackling him he isn't going to break 5 tackles a play.
