LOL 4 wins over Iowa in 3 years. Go Cats Go! If only they had beaten f***ing Penn St. at home, oh well. I guess if Illinois couldn't do it it's not that big of a deal lol. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) No, no, no, no They did not just storm the court... Yeah I know, that's sad. However, Texas is the only real chance to rush the court this year so our fans must have decided to take what they could get with the win over rival Kansas. -
What you just described is because NU coaches up their recruits and does find sleeper recruits like Tyrell Sutton. Illinois has better pure talent and the coaching staff needs to improve their players and does not do so.
-
Illinois has outrecruited Northwestern for years and look at where the programs are. NU is consistently a solid team, looking like they are going to be able to make a bowl game in most years. Walker finds diamonds in the rough and coaches up his players. Meanwhile, Illinois continues to do less than nothing with their 'talent'. Illinois has a long way to go and these good recruits don't scare me one bit because they have had better talent than the results they have been producing for a while now. Zook was a good hire because U of I had nothing to lose. With that said, he may or may not improve the program.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) #22 Oklahoma loses to Missouri at home 71-69, to start conference play at 0-2. How about that? OU really looks bad right now. They're best win is probably Alabama and that's not saying much right now. Losses at Nebraska and at home to Mizzou aren't the way a tournament team starts its conference play. How about Mizzou though? That's 5 wins in a row since the Illinois debacle including 2-0 in the Big 12. I said Snyder needs to make the tourney to save his job, while it's still a stretch it's becoming a possibility with the way this team is improving. -

IU just won on an off the ball foul with 5.7 to go. What a joke, that team is trash. Chuck up some more 3s and lose to Indiana St. again you clowns. This IU team is going to have some horrid losses this year the way they refuse to run an offense. -

I think it will be a good game with ND in a close one, but wouldn't be surprised by any result that's within 14 points. I'd be happier if a meteor fell over Sundevil stadium and wiped out both programs to be honest. -

Ok, I need to hear Jason and Cheat come out and admit they were cocky and wrong about their s***ty Iowa team. I'm so sick of hearing about how Iowa finally has everything in gear and they can play with anyone in the country. BULLs***. It's a bad Iowa team that had no place in the top 25 or on a New Year's Bowl game. Thank you Florida for beating the living s*** out of this joke of a team. -

Look Mizzou sucks, I know it. It's plain and simple, Heads has nothing on me. Mizzou beat Iowa St. Mizzou won a bowl game and Iowa St. didn't. That's good enough for me lol. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Get back to me when Missouri escapes mediocrity. With Quin Snyder and Gary Pinkel at the helm of your major sports, it'll be a while. Independence Bowl Champs. Get back to me when Iowa St. wins an important football game. -

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) I believe he scored either 51 or 56 points in that game. 52, 28 in the 4th, and 21 in 75 seconds. -

NU totally blew that one. Well another year and another year without a bowl win. Might be NU's last bowl game for a year or two, who knows what their QB situation is gonna look like. Sutton will have to carry the load, it will be interesting. Teams are probably going to be able to key on him without the balance in the NU offense. At least Missouri somehow won. I'm not only shocked Missouri won, but the fact that they were down 21 points twice in the game and came back is even more shocking. Go Mizzou! They almost salvaged the day. -

QUOTE(farmteam @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) Somewhere, Danman is crying. GBN managed to lose even though Scheyer was unbelievable, at least accoring to the Trib. GBN has always sucked at Proviso for some reason. With that said it took the rest of GBN to shoot horribly, all of Proviso's starters to be in double figures, and their team to shoot almost 60% to beat us by 6. That's scary. I'm not too worried about it because I don't think there are any great teams in the state this year. GBN may be the best team in the state, but wouldn't be most other years IMO. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) Am I the only one who just can't get into high school basketball after graduating? I mean, I played for two years but it's dropped tremendously in importance... That's because Iowa basketball sucks and your school was bad for Iowa basketball. -

Simply put they aren't as good as last year. No Curry and no Davis is too much to overcome. Sweetney is solid, but he's not tall enough to play center in this league. -

I only watched the 2nd half of the UNC game, but Bobby Frasor put it one of the worst displays of basketball I have ever seen from an individual in a while. That was pathetic. I didn't see him make one field goal and he had many turnovers on bad passes and poor dribbling decisions. Not to mention my personal favorite when the Heels are down 9 looking for a 3 in all likelihood and he drives from well behind the 3 point line only to have a USC big waiting for him. He got swatted as soon as he went for the layup. Now that I have that out of the way I was surprised that USC was able to put a decent game together. I saw them earlier in the year when Oral Roberts of all people destroyed them in the Great Alaska Shootout. That loss had USC at 0-2 and I was thinking they were going to be a brutal team. They haven't loss since, though UNC is the only team of their 8 wins that is even respectable. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Speaking of overrated. Jeff Ryan of Glenbrook SOuth, not that good. Saw him play against Waukegan on Friday and he shot horribly. Just doesn't look like a division 1 player. Have fun, Northwestern. Seriously. I've known that ever since he was on GBS' varsity his freshman year. He's just not that talented. He's good and he's tall for high school, but he's not a D1 product. -
Ryan Rodriguez top 10? Am I missing something?

Anybody else think Derrick Rose is way overrated? Big game and he has stomach flu, what a load of crap. Rose is not that good, U of I shouldn't want him. -
I was at the game and the 3 point shooting was amazing. 14-17 from 3, apparently 1 short of a team record. Impressive s***. I see this team play like this and a few of their other good wins and don't see why they can't be as good as last year's team. They are just so inconsistent.

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) Evanston upsets Waukegan tonight, 68-65 ini Evanston. Upsets? I'd think those teams are pretty even and it was in Evanston. Waukegan lost most of their talent from last year's team. They're still decent, but Evanston is no slouch.
