If teams liked putting young guys on the bench the Angels would have had Dallas McPherson and Casey Kotchman up earlier. Teams will always have players repeat AAA rather than sit on a Major League bench.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) What!!!! Anyone you bring up from the minors has to start? Thats news to me. In fact if he started every day he may be worn out by the break. You have got to be kidding me. Anyone who is anyone huh? He has to play his way into the starting lineup, just like most of our prospects have had to do over the years. See Aaron Rowand. He didn't develop for a lot longer than it should have taken as a result of being on the bench year after year.

In other action... Rodriguez led the Warthogs to a 7-4 victory. Nanita 1-3 with a walk, a run, and 3 stolen bases. Schnur 2-4 with 2 SBs. Valido went yard. Box Score Kanny had a 4 run 9th to win 8-7 tonight. Cook 3-5 with a HR. Brooks with a shaky start. Box Score Great Falls got suspended in the middle of the game. Bristol lost 4-2. Carter 3-4, Sanchez and Causey 2-4. Box Score

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) establish himself as a starter caliber player at the ML level. Success in the minors doesnt mean anything, you have to prove you can play with the big boys, and he hasnt done that yet. And frankly, as much as I like him, I think Dye, Rowand, and PODS are all better. He's played 3 games. Give the guy a freaking chance.

HAPPY f***ING BIRTHDAY!!! Get yer ass down here next year!!

QUOTE(Yeast Confection @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) But I guess I'll keep an eye out for Anderson, maybe he will break out tomorrow. Yeah and if he doesn't we should just put him on waivers. :rolly Stop posting stupid crap or I'll start deleting your posts. We know who you are anyway.
-
QUOTE(Yeast Confection @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) How about 850 OPS - which is what Rowand will have next year... versus Anderson who may (or may not) be a glorified Borchard? ??? Rowand will have an OPS improvement of over 100 next year? Ok wise guy. Don't compare Anderson to Borchard, please. That's not fair to either player. Anderson is a different player.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) We all know Anderson is due, and I think he take Timo's spot in the offseason, but we cant assume that AA players should be brought up right away. Maybe in 2007 they will be ready to step in and start, but right now, next year is a stretch. I know Randar got on you for this one, but it's so absurd that I have to add my own knock on you for that one. That's just dumb. Try running a baseball franchise like that and you'll be driving it into the ground.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Why would he have been a bust if he didn't do well right away? He wouldn't be a bust, but he was supposed to be so advanced that he is supposed to be dominating high A and AA.
-
This was expected. If he didn't do well out of the gate he would have been a bust. What is it with people all over (positive or negative) prospects in their first year.
-
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) I think I am more giddy about Young the any of our recenent propsects, more than anyone including when Reed was hitting .400+ in AA or when McCarthy had than roll last year. Power hitters that draw walks, have good speed, and play good defense will do that. I'm too lazy to post all the other box scores, but Adam Russell, my sleeper prospect threw 7 shutout innings tonight. Box Score

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) Speaking of which, what are Reynoso and Smith doing on the 40-man? I think that they could be DFA'ed at any time to clear open spots. From what I know Reynoso has a stud arm but is a stupid pitcher. They probably wanted to keep him on the 40-man because they want to give him every shot. He's the kind of guy that teams will take a chance on in the Rule V. As for Smith he had a stud year at Birmingham and maybe they thought he was worth giving a shot on the 40-man. If he followed up with a good year at Charlotte (he's been mediocre) he could have been an injury replacement if needed. That's the only thinking I can come up with.
-
You put this in the wrong board to get an unbiased response.
-
Ok this is f***ing stupid. The 5 or 6 losers that have nothing better to do than rank 64 hot chicks come up with the rankings purely based on their opinions. Kreuk as a 15?! Wtf is that?! She's been way higher in both of the previous contests. Besides the last one was only in January.
-
That's just weird. His average was stud in July, but his K/BB was well below June and August. Also his power was down from the previous 2 months. He became a more impatient slap hitter. When was his injury? That could explain the lack of power.
-
I'm not sold on Owens yet. His steal numbers are not that great and he plays in a huge park which is great for slap hitters.

US World Cup Qualifier tonight

QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) Of course, the main difference between qualifiers and friendlies is subsititutions. Qualifiers -- 3 subs. Friendlies -- 11 subs. Freddy won't play in this round because Bruce thinks he's too young. And Bruce isn't alone. Too young and not good enough yet. He shows flashes but just doesn't know enough about professional soccer to be able to play at the international level. It's taking him a while to adjust to the pros as is. Then the adjustment to the international level from just the pros is probably comprable in terms of difference in talent. -
Uh oh, I'm gonna be hearing about this one from the hoards of Cardinals fans. :rolly

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 05:10 AM) Landon, why the hell did I write Lance. Ok, then Mr. Smart Guy, what club in Germany does he play for? As said it was Leverkusen, which I knew. Of course he is currently on the LA Galaxy so boo on you. Besides, I would own you in international soccer. I keep up on it.
