Bham and Kanny off. Charlotte got shutout 5-0. Box Score Hogs win 2-1. Hall, Valido, Molina with 2 hits each. Broadway with 6 strong innings. Box Score Great Falls and Bristol currently in action.

Zach Duke moved to 4-0 today with 8.1 IP of 1 R ball. That outing raised his ERA. In 6 starts he has a 0.92 ERA with a 4-0 record....and he's only 22.

Link You'll have to live with my geocities account until Jason uploads it onto FS. Notables: Anderson .326/.397/.516 Fields .315/.434/.573 Love 15 walks in 89 ABs. Owens .398/.493/.420 Hell of an OBP. Sweeney .337/.402/.446 A bit of an 'empty average' but I'll take it. Schnurstein .322/.361/.522 Hey Jason tell Schnur to draw a freaking walk! Hansen .374/.445/.596 Lucy .391/.464/.478 Valido 14/14 in steals. Also posting good offensive months: Borch, Brown, Stewart, Young (in limited ABs), Hinton, Nanita, Berry, De Los Santos, and Ricks. On the pitching side some bullpen guys in Charlotte got it going. Rodriguez starting to turn it around for the Hogs. Liotta freaking filthy in his last month at Kanny.

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Why did Ryno mention Raffy in his speech.... didnt Palmiero bang his wife during his couple years with the cubs? I think i remember hearing that was the reason they traded him. I've heard that too.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) What makes you say this? It seems like a very subjective comment to me. The only way I could see it happening is if Burnett is injured. While I'm not sure I agree with BB's statement, Burnett isn't really that good. I could see BMac being at least as good or better in a couple years. It's within reason IMO.

No major trades at deadline mean major one later
danman31 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) The Sox kept their prospects and this means in the off-season Kenny will likely get a major player. We have some major league ready guys that will need a spot or be traded. So, my guess is in the off-season Kenny will acquire a major bat or arm with prospects as the bait. You're definitely right, but the real question is why worry about it now? -
Charlotte and Kanny rained out, Great Falls off. Bham lost 8-2. Tracey faced 6 batters in the 5th and got none of them out, making for an ugly outing. Owens 3-4. Box Score Hogs lost 6-4. 2 hits for Valido, Hinton, and Schnur (HR). Whisler rocked, Moat nice long relief. Box Score Bristol lost 10-5. Sanchez 3-4 with a HR. Welker and one of the Acostas with 2 hits each. Box Score

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) Your 2006 starting CF for the Boston Red Sox Why do you keep saying that?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) There's hope for Kris just yet, he needs to pitch like this for the rest of the season however........ No, this year is gravy. Look at Haigwood. He came off the ACL and had a mediocre '04. '05 he has broken out because he's back at 100%. Honel should be 100% for all of '06 and with a strong first half might get a shot at promotion to Charlotte.

I'm still not convinced. Besides, this isn't worth getting excited over, which I'm not. You know the deal's not worth making when you're more concerned about who we gave up than who we got.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) If this is bulls***, there's a lot of people involved in this hoax. Not really. This has been done before. Only the starters of the thread are posting the info, and it's vague unverified info at that. Of course the obvious question is why bother with a Geoff Blum trade rumor.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) It being posted that it was reported on a radio station is good enough for me, for now You're easier than I. On each message board I looked everyone that didn't hear it and replied was like huh what who when where why. So I'm sure I buy this, plus only the starter of the thread said it. It could be spam. Loretta is back btw.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Well I mean a top player available as in Burnett, Wagner, Guardado, Huff... that type of player. I know, that's a lot of guys. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) Other than that there a bunch of guys Id wouldnt want dealt in a deal for an avg. player but if it involved like a Burnett type player it would be fine. Wow A.J. Burnett, that's high standards LOL. :rolly Kenny isn't giving these guys away. He's going to at least get a Burnett or better if he's dealing any top tier prospects. -
Charlotte got suspended. Munoz struggled in the 3 innings they played (shocking). Knights managed only 1 hit. Box Score Bham won 5-1. Young and Lopez with 2 hits each. Stewart with a grand slam. I'm going to guarantee Sweeney will not start next season in Birmingham. As much as you guys may want it to happen, this organization loves Sweeney. He seems to be getting hot. Hot enough that he may be around .300 by the end of the season as DBAH0 predicted. If he slumps to .270ish he may stay in Bham next year, but they're not going to hold him back if he's .290s or better at season's end. With that said if it was up to me I'd give him 2 more months in Bham next year regardless. Also, I don't see where all this Young in Bham 06 crap is coming from. They had him skip a level this year and you think they're going to hold him back with the year he's had? I doubt it. I mean why would the Sox bother he was going to have to destroy the league in order to start the following year in Charlotte. Barring this injury holding him back the rest of the season I don't see why they would or should do it. Obviously for all of these things to take place I'm assuming someone of Anderson/Young/Sweeney/Owens will be moved or promoted (in Anderson's case) for this to happen.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) What. Shoppach for Bigie? AND Stern? Wow, Theo's a dumbass. Yeah, definitely a nice deal for the Rockies. Byrnes for Bigbie kinda made me wonder in the first place.

ATO: Liotta Promoted to Winston-Salem 2004 2nd round pick moved up to Winston-Salem, makes Warthog debut tonight Ray Liotta, a 2nd round draft pick in the ’04 draft, has been promoted to high-A Winston-Salem. The left-handed pitcher dominated low-A Kannapolis. In 20 starts, 115.1 IP, he led the SAL in ERA at 2.26. He posted an 8-3 record with 107 strikeouts to only 35 walks and 108 hits. Liotta has shown great success since joining the system. He won the ERA crown in the Pioneer League last year. This year he has continued the success and is definitely a prospect on the rise. Liotta and the rest of the ‘Hogs will face Potomac with a 6:05 start time. Ryan Wing was scheduled to start, but will likely be moved to the pen as he has shown little success since the Sox claimed him off waivers from Texas. more...

Which Sox Prospects do you Think Are Untouchable
danman31 replied to White Sox Josh's topic in FutureSox Board
Basically Young is the only guy I wouldn't trade. Jenks value has to be so high that it might be worth it to deal him. The only other guy I really like in the minors is Anderson, but he is really the best fit for a trade. We don't have a spot for him yet and he's practically ready now. -
I guess my point was you can't expect Granderson to continue hitting at the rate he was.

I pike up Francour Good Move or Bad move
danman31 replied to Tadahito Iguchi's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) umm whos francour, so ill say bad move Shut it. Francoeur wasn't supposed to stay up this long and is currently splitting time in RF. If he keeps hitting the way he has been, he's going to be playing more often. With that said, you probably could have waited a while longer to see if he was going to get more playing time. -
Great Falls had a DH, losing game 1 4-1. Rodriguez with HR #7. Box Score Game 2 went to the Sox 6-4. Tartaglia and Rodriguez 2 hits each. Allen with HR #8. Richard with the start, 2 innings, nothing great. Nik Lemon went 3 perfect innings with 7 Ks to earn the save. Box Score

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) They just sent down Curtis Granderson and kept Nook Logan as the everyday CF. Idiots. I know he did pretty well against big league pitching, but minor league experts keep talking about his raise in power in return for a lot more strikeouts. Think Corey Patterson. They wanted him to be a leadoff type guy and is value is highest as such, but his strikeouts are alarming. I think they want him to work on that before bringing him up for an extended period. He had 5 Ks in 22 at-bats, not horrible, but he had 112 in AAA.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) I heard of a deaf, dumb, and blind kid who played a mean pin ball, but this is crazy cool. Damnit beat me to the punch! On a serious note that really proves these games are 'button mashers'. As good as this kid probably is, these games don't take much to learn how to be good at them. Impressive either way.
