QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) I realize Illinois has been through a more arduous schedule. They're a very good team. But Kansas has more balence offensively. Which player on U of I will stop Simien? Simien has to worry more about staying healthy than who would be stopping him on Illinois. Once he gets back from his thumb injury who's to say he won't get hurt again? He seems to be one of those injury prone guys. -

It was 29-24 Maryland with 8 minutes to go 1st half. Then Carolina goes on a 23-5 run to end the half up 13. The biggest lead was 42, 107-65, with 3 minutes to go. From Maryland's 5 point lead to UNC's 42 point lead the Tar Heels went on a 83-36 run in 25 minutes. -
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) I have seen him play about 7-8 games when he was up with the mariners. He hit .397 with the Mariners this September. What in the world in those games makes you think he is Mark Kotsay. :headshake

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) Here is the thing in my mind...what makes him a sure bet to be better than Kotsay? I say let him prove KW wrong on the field. And I love Freddy on this team. It wasn't the fact that he can't be great as much as the fact that people are labeling a player they have never seen play.
-
Any idiot could have told you that. I do like their hit songs, similar or not. I actually purchased their new CD, big mistake. It was a lot of filler with 4 decent songs. They are the kind of band you should only get the hit song for your IPOD or something and not bother with their other stuff. Still, they aren't as bad as the bad rap that they get. It still beats losers screaming into microphones.

:sleep Wake me when they get to the CWS.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) I did not mean to sound like that is all he will ever be. Even if he is just as good as kotsay, that is nothing to be ashamed of. I only wish the best for him but what is done is done and i am not gonna cry about it. That's not what you said. You made it sound like Kotsay is all he could be. Don't go back on that.

QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) I went with "other" and chose Willie. I'm sure Iguchi would be a decent hitter in the Majors but we have a young guy who was a pretty good prospect and had a respectable average for his 1st season starting. If the sox don't sign anyone else and have Willie as the 2B, I GUARANTEE by the end of year, that Willie will be leading-off and S-Pod will be hitting 9th. I do expect though, S-Pod to have a decent year as well. Well the first paragraph is about how I feel about Willie though I don't think Iguchi will be all that great. The 2nd paragraph is all over the place. I highly doubt Willie will be leading off. I hate people thinking Scott Pod would be hitting 9th, even his 04 is good enough for 7th on this team, but that's not that point. If Scott Pod had a decent year he wouldn't be hitting 9th either. How can he have a decent year and be hitting 9th on this team?
-
Hell, I liked the trade before we even signed these guys. Scott Pod and Vizcaino is more valuable to this team than Carlos. 2 needs with 1 guy, that's why that trade was big. It doesn't hurt that we signed these guys with the extra money. However, if the Sox have such a limiting budget they won't win. You have to open the pocketbook, even if only a little bit. The Sox need to book the offseason and unplug the phones. I don't even like/dislike signing AJ, but I did want a catcher. Now that KW thinks he has one the offseason is done. I don't want Iguchi.
-
0. AJ's production will even out with his cancerous self. This is an even move IMO. It definitely doesn't hurt us, but I don't think it really helps us.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) A couple years ago I made one of these, Jerry Manuel (Showtime's old name) as "The Postman" (K. Costner movie). I can't find it now but I'm sure somebody can hijack it. Yeah, that was pretty good.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 03:24 AM) If by kick ass you mean kotsay, then you would be correct. Who says he has to be Kotsay? Try not to label prospects so quickly. Just because people say he is in that mold doesn't mean he can't be better or worse.
-
Good article. It's good to see other countries take to baseball. It seems Australia is gradually growing more interest.
-
"I didn't say that." "Yes you did, I quote, 'I'd give my left nut for the Sox to win the WS.'" "Ahh crap, that does sound like me."

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) They let the Hornets back in that game the 2nd qtr after being up 12.... 3rd Quarter cant start.... nowone can find the board. And by board you mean ball.

IU had some guy on the post with the ball and you hear someone else yell, "HEY WATCH OUT!" It was so loud I heard it on the crowd mic. Doyle of NU swats the ball clean and steals it. Then the insuing breakaway NU has a bad pass, turning it over. IU going the other way with less than 10 seconds left. They throw it away, end of half. That about sums up how ugly this game has been. -

NU IU is an ugly ass game right now. A lot of turnovers and such. If you like good basketball, don't watch this game, it might burn your eyes out. 20-15 NU under 4 minutes left 1st half. -

WHarris1 also went perfect in the BCS games and went 7-1 on the New Year, only dropping the Outback Bowl. Congrats to WilliamTell who went 19-8 winning the competition. Goldmember, greasywheels121, Zoomslowik, Rowand44, and Hall of Famer capped off the top 6. Our overall record was 253-179, a winning percentage of .586.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) and she hasn't done much since then. the first time i've seen her on tv since that and she gets booed....i'd say we're right. She was one of the host's for Dick Clark's New Year's Eve and she was on Nick and Jessica's Christmas special, which makes sense. -

You guys said the same thing after the SNL incident. -
I sure hope SoxxyGirl isn't that ugly in real life. Damn who is that in the poster?
-
I suppose this is a decent effort. It was better until I realized there are 8 admins instead of the 7 on the poster. I guess Heads would be the woman since he was already one, and he could do worse than being Charlize Theron...I wonder who that would be in the background so far away from everyone. Well, it didn't change formats well, which is expected. I think it's pretty cool anyway.

God listen to this announcer. I don't know his name, but it's the other color analyst, not Bowden. "Auburn clearly has the easiest schedule." Just because they scheduled powder puffs in non conference their entire schedule is easy? The SEC is so much deeper than the Big 12 and especially the PAC 10, it's not even funny. The system screwed up, face the facts and let Auburn have a share of the title. Sheesh. :rolly
