The biggest news of Spring Training so far for me has been Honel's inning of work. It shows that he's over the headcase phase like Rick Ankiel. If Ankiel was to pitch a meaningless inning of ST during his bad times he would have walked a few guys with a few wild pitches and it would have been ugly. It's encouraging to see Honel on the up instead of that nasty Bristol outing. I have a lot more faith in him after that. I still don't think we will see the pre-'injury' Honel, but he could still be a damn good prospect. Maybe in another year or 2 he will be back at top form. I'll take anything below 4.5 as his ERA this year.

GBN played well to win their regional final 64-42 over Buffalo Grove. Next up: Lake Park at sectionals. Conant beat Palatine by 4 at their place to move on to the same sectional. They have upset happy Maine South next. Warren made the group 3/3 with a 10 point win over North Chicago. They have Waukegan in their next game. Waukegan is really dangerous and I wouldn't be surprised if they pull the upset. Looks like we could see some clashes here. Hopefully GBN can take both of your teams down. -
What a foolish poll. I've said it before and I'll say it again: f*** Illinois.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Nice to see it finally out there Dan and Jason. You're telling me. After saying it would come out for a couple months I thought it would never happen lol. Think about writing 13 of those writeups though. That's a lot of time and effort. Jason has all of the best of the rest as is mentioned in the article so he has even more. And I'm not even done!

The Top 25: 25-21 FutureSox.com's Top 25 Countdown Begins By FutureSox Staff The 2005 baseball season is upon us. Spring training baseball has just begun and the start of the season is just around the corner. That means its time for FutureSox.com’s yearly Top Prospect list. The list will cover the White Sox Top 25 prospects counting down from 25 to 1. However, at the conclusion of the list we’ll also have some breakdowns on guys that may not have made the top 25, but have intriguing potential or stories. more... Well, Jason and I finally got the top 25 going. I hope you all enjoy it, we both put a lot of work into it along with some help from others. I'm hoping to get numbers 20-16 out sometime on Saturday.

Munoz's current ST ERA is 27.00. He is so brutal it's unbelievable.
-
From what I heard Tracey always seemed to be ahead in the count. That's actually a bit weird considering he walked quite a few guys last year for Winston-Salem. Uh oh, Munoz is on to pitch. Chalk up the L. 4 pitch walk, oye. Anybody know Honel's velocities when he was pitching? It sounds like he did well, but he had major velocity problems late last year with supposedly no structural damage to his shoulder. So hopefully he is back in the upper 80s at least.

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) I'll go with someone I haven't heard talked about at all: Daniel Haigwood. I also think Ray Liotta will break out this year. Haigwood isn't as underappreciated as you think. If Jason would get the top 25 out, you'll see he made the list.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) In one of Phil Rogers' chat wraps I thought I recalled him saying he was going to take some reps at catcher and he was a better prospect than Lucy, but I could be wrong on that, and he might just stay at second. That's what he said. I think he was speculating that Ricks would be a catcher this year with possible inside info. I think he was referring to Ricks as a better prospect as a hitter, his comment had nothing to do with catching ability. Also, you guys just stole the sleeper pick from him. I hereby rule Ricks a non-sleeper pick because everyone is taking him.
-
Uhh apparently we scored two in the bottom of the 9th so far. Our minor leaguers continue to tear it up in ST. 8-4, updates anyone?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 06:09 AM) As Dan said, I took Adam Ricks. Had an excellent first season of rookie ball coming out of Miami, and I think he'll continue that, as he'll probably start the season of at low A Kanny. He's meant to be taking some games at catcher as well, which will only increase his value. Is an excellent contact guy and should have a high OBP. Phil Rogers thought long - term he could be a better catcher than Donny Lucy. Where did you hear that he was going to be a catcher this year?
-
I thought that was pretty weak.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) The only other option would be for us to change the draft to like an AIM draft and then I can enter in everyones picks. That's a very good 2nd option.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Am I allowed to take AAP?? If so I got Wes then. Also, does he count as a sleeper?? If not I'll make a different choice. I can't see why you wouldn't be able to take your AAP. Whisler I suppose could be considered a bit of a sleeper as he hasn't proven himself yet. It's all up to you, it's just the rest of us may not deem him a possible sleeper.
-
QUOTE(TLAK @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Give him a break, he was speaking Ozzie. I'll give you credit for the Ozzie remark, but I never let up on Jason. Besides, if I didn't do it, Heads would have (if he saw it).

The playoffs are underway! GBN beat up on Prospect 54-29 in a meh game considering the score. It looks like Conant and Warren won so everybody here is happy. -

Well done Cheat. However, I was expecting a stupid spoof. Either way this remains funny. -
I guarantee the draft will get screwed up due to people not changing the default rankings and taking players other than their keepers. Is there a way to make the keepers undraftable? This way the draft would go smoothly.

The '04 version (linked) of this thread was classic with BMac and Bullard going at it along with great discussions about the prospects. It came out a month earlier last year, but hey, better late than never. Hopefully we can have another great discussion. With what should be little surprise the people who correctly picked sleepers were mostly experts. Rex (Spidale), BMac (Tracey), and mccarthyp (Tracey) all have first hand experience with the players more than the rest of us and nailed it on the head. EvilJester99 with a solid (and possibly biased) pick of Baj also was a damn good sleeper pick. Ace also claims he had Tracey as his sleeper, but he receives no credit because he mooched the pick off the McCarthy's. So anyway, let's see who everyone has this year. A couple people made picks in September of 04 and a couple others have it in their sigs, but as we are in Spring Training it's more sensible to make a pick here and now. As for my pick I was going to take Adam Ricks, but he's been taken by DBAH0. And then I thought Tyler Lumsden (though I don't know how much of a sleeper he is), but he has also been picked thanks to SoxAce. In my continuing effort to be different I must pick a player before anyone else. I'm going with Adam Russell because he was developed going into the draft with 3 pitches. He's also suppposed to have a good head on his shoulders as in he's coachable. I think he's a good pick. I also like Evan Tartaglia (good speed, draws walks) and Lucas Harrell (young pitcher with good fastball). P.S. We are getting the FutureSox Top 25 out this week. Jason should be able to get it out sometime very soon, but then again he is very lazy so who knows when it will come out lol.

I like how the title has Lee being rounded up into a herd because he is as dumb as a mule. God I'm happy we got rid of his ass.

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) Ok.. so what's the verdict on those of us that don't have a clue who was on our team..??? Isn't the draft tomorrow..? What if I can't be there.. is that auto thing avaliable again? Relax. The draft is March 6th.
-
Tracey won't get on the list because in the top 10 White Sox prospects Fields was a spot ahead of him. Therefore, Anderson, BMac, and Sweeney (in that order) will all be in the top 75.

who would you like to see the bears draft
danman31 replied to soxhawks's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
When I saw last post in sports bar as "who would you like to wee..." I had to see what was going on. I thought we were picking who we would like to take a piss on in the sports world lol.
