QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 08:17 AM) Didn't the Cubs play a one game playoff to get into the playoffs in 1998? To me that would be the biggest series. This series is fun and all, but you have to pick a September series where the playoffs are on the line for the biggest. Yep and Gary Gaetti hit a home run to help them win.

Teen girls get pregnant on purpose, to raise kids together

QUOTE (Steff @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) Both Disney and Nickelodeon seem to have grown up way to fast over the past couple years. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there is no appropriate programming for Bri when she's the Boy's age. BTW, I got the pics of the linebacker!! LOL...he is HUGE! Not Maury Povich Huge...but wonderfully chubby! Already on Stage 2 baby food. Next month...Steak! -

QUOTE (Steff @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) Exactly. Laughter all around at kids blaming movies, tv show, etc... but these kids are at very impressionable ages. If their parents aren't there to explain to them that it's not real life they are watching, they don't know any better and the odds are good they will travel that path. The Boy (9 years old) loves those Disney Channel shows, but we felt sometimes they were making him want to grow up faster and be that "cool" teen who is a rock-star, wizard and lives in a hotel. But we have long talks with him about reality vs. TV. Thats all it takes parents...talking and listening to your kids. -
BTW, I want to congratulate all who hate Jay who visit his column on-line or buy the paper to read him. You helped him get his new 3-year deal. If you don't like him...don't read him.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) I remember the "Dana Carvey Show" that lasted like 4 weeks because he did something pretty offensive. It was hilarious stuff. Wish I could remember why it was yanked by the network. Weren't Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell on that show?

QUOTE (TCQ @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) I dont know if a lot of you guys have read the sun times this morning but mariotti wrote some of the most biased tasteless trash i have ever read. He actually says in the article how members of the media are not biased and are not fans and then proceeds to put all of his focus on ripping Kenny Williams and Ozzie. He makes them out to be evil hating people, and paints Jim Hendry and Lou Pinella as world class heroes and first class citizens. I have never read anything this biased since i watched "Triumph of the Will" by Leni Reifenstahl (Nazi propaganda from the 30s". One particular thing that made me laugh was how called Ozzie Guillen a jerk because he jokingly said that it took a while to find a double for piniella in that commercial they did because of his waistline. I watched the interview yesterday he was laughing when he said it. Both managers have had nothing but good things to say about each other. There is so much bias and generally disdain for the White Sox organization in his writing its almost a joke to even read it. I am livid and i hope the Sox kick their ass even more now, but then that will make us a classless organization because no one is supposed to be the blessed cubs after their hundred years of god awfulness. Its just another year, and when September rolls around cubs fans will once again repeat their ingrained mantra, "Maybe next year." I'm confused by your statements...What is your connection between Mariotti and the Cubs?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 08:45 AM) Or the "Finish f***ing High School and Go to f***ing College or I will kick your ass" pact my dad made with me... So I guess your virginity pact with your father was an unspoken one? Btw, nice job finally breaking it... Seriously, There seem to be a lot of factors out there, media-wise, forcing young boys and girls to grow up fast. Parents need to get a hold of them and see what they are watching, listening to and what is being marketed to them.. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) Others blamed hit movies like Juno and Knocked Up for glamorizing young unwed mothers. In a related story, the increased violence among animals in the local zoo has been blamed on the film "Kung Fu Panda" -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 13, 2008 -> 05:36 PM) oh do share the story of you guys meeting He was giving a speech here in Chicago and it was at the Theatre where I used to work. Since I was Managing Director of the theatre ( and he was a VIP) I made sure the green room was ready, etc...Well, he walked in with a couple people. I introduced myself and said if he needed anything let us know. He told me I didn't have to leave and invited me to sit down. We chatted briefly about politics ( this was 2006). I told him Obama was recently here speaking also. He said that Obama might be a force in 2008, he can electrify a crowd. But what I really enjoyed is he asked me if I had a son and talked a lot more about being fathers. When I hear the people on NBC talk about that same thing and how much family meant to him...I can feel that too. He was one of a kind. There was no difference between him off-screen and on. I am sad.

I am heartbroken. I had the sincere please of meeting Mr Russert and speaking with him one on one. There are few men today who can be called Giants in their Industry. He was a Giant. Full of Honesty, integrity and heart. This upcoming election, as historic as it may be, will be somewhat melancholy without Tim and his whiteboard giving us the unbiased truth. RIP

Donaghy says playoff series' were manipulated
RibbieRubarb replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Hmmm. This gets even more interesting. In 2002, when the alleged "fix" of the Lakers/Kings series occured, it was broadcast on NBC. At that time Tim Donaghy's cousin, Jack, was inventing the Trivection Oven for GE, the parent company of...wait for it...NBC!!!!!! He was then promoted to Vice President of East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming. Hmmmm... -
Wow Danks is done already?!? That was quick.
