QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) Maybe you shouldn't take things so literally? My mistake if it was sarcastic. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) Calling the original post (or pretty much any of the supposedly negative posts around here) "devoid of any factual support" is exactly the type of snobby tone with wich many of these concerns are met. This is why I agree with Milkman with his assesment of the board. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) All due respect, but -- you're comparing that to this thread, which began with litany of "factual support"??? You can't pick out something totally unrelated and say, 'There, point made.' I agree that was a bit harsh turn of phrase. I think what i meant is that we are not taking things into perspective when we look at the facts. To say based on one month that Minnesota will not lose another game when Santana/Liriano pitch and we will end up in third place is a bit extreme. There are other figures and facts out there to point otherwise. It seems that there is a gravitation towards the darker side of the facts on this site when our team is doing so well. Thats what is confusing. Be critical, sure. But there should be some perspective behind it.

QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Hasn't Bedard owned us in the past? Or am I thinking of somebody else? The past few years he is 1-2 with a 5.60 era against the Sox. But then again Freddy is 1-4 with a 5.18 era against Baltimore

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) What is that have to do with anything? Symptomatic. How is Greg Walker worthless? It's that extreme negativity that's devoid of any factual support that is prevelant lately that I find confusing.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Have you been reading the threads here? I mean Jesus, just start with this one. Let's start with your avatar...

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) That right there is soxtalk in a nutshell. You can't voice legitimate concerns about the team without someone jumping down your throat. :headshake

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 11:45 AM) Well, I have to admit that the idea of finishing in third is a little ridiculous, but it is very plausible that we don't even make it back to the WS if our starters continue to be as bad as they have been. Without a doubt. If our starters continue to have control problems, we could not repeat this year. But to say the Twins will pass us and we'll not make the playoffs when we've won 8 series in a row is a bit silly. The atmosphere here seems like we've been on a extended losing streak. We haven't. The MAJOR difference between this team and the 2002/2003/2004 "slug it out and hope for a win" White Sox teams is we have WON, we know what it takes to win. We also have a veteran, starting staff that knows how to turn it around and a coach that won't let them forget.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) C'mon. Nobody is saying, "We're gonna lose the division, I'm gonna piss my pants, there's no hope for us." People simply point out what's wrong with the team that should be fixed. Teams don't slug their way to the WS anymore. If we want to win it all again, which we all do and that's the reason we're all concerned, we'll have to get better pitching from our starters. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) We're halfway through the season and our ERA has rose like nearly one point since last year. So yes, I don't see it as being overly pessimistic to be concerned about our starting pitching. I think EVERYONE thinks our pitching needs to be better. But when you have the second best record in MLB and you are only one win off last year at this time. It's hard to see the reasoning behind the "We'll be in third place and not make the playoffs" rationale.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) You did? Why? After yesterday..whew.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) Podsednik needs to stop diving at balls he can't reach. WTF. BTW we won... Just in case you didn't get the e-mail. You can be happy now.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) Juan and Jon carried us today. Excellent games by the 2. I thought we sucked?!? We couldn't beat the teams we have to beat! How did we win?!? Great all-around game guys!!!

Why do I have the urge to make a left turn?

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) Ok, thanks. I thought I was losing it there for a second. So what is the backstory on Venom then if it is not an alien lifeform? I'm not sure, that's one of the plot points that's being kept under wraps. We might not even see Venom under nearly the end and then setting up Spidey 4. It looks like the MAIN villians for 3 will be The Sandman and Hobgoblin. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 01:04 AM) If the last villain was Carnage, this would easily be the best in the series. Venom and Carnage in the same movie!?!? But I read that they signed somebody on to play The Lizard so I don't know for sure. Dylan Baker has been playing Dr. Connors for two films now. I'm sure The Lizard would be CGI. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) Not getting any love for Mysterio, Vulture, Electro, Hobgoblin, Morbius, Rhino or Shocker?! Poor Chameleon and Lizard being on the outskirts. That was also one of Raimi's choices for 3. Plus don't forget Man-Wolf, they did introduce JJ's son in #2
-
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) I thought Chameleon was in it? Sam Raimi originally wanted Chameleon. But Sony demanded Venom. Raimi agreed only if he could do Venom his way. So Venom is NOT an alien life-form this time out.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) The Hotel Coral Essex QUOTE(jfbrens @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Having trouble finding the Hotel Coral Essex on the internet..... are you sure that is the name? Or is it in the suburbs of pittsburgh? The rooms are under Louis Skolnick, the traveling secretary.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:00 AM) I don't know much about it, but if Gandofini is asking them not to do what he did, it sounds kind of hypocritial. Gandolfini ended up compromising on a deal. I think that's what he is advising them to do. Negotiations are about give and take. They need to give a little.

Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
RibbieRubarb replied to WSoxMatt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
ARGHHHHHHH!!! Kenny is a great GM. Ozzie is a great manager. Thre is NO Kenny>Ozzie or Ozzie>Kenny debate. That's stupid. Plain and simple. Ozzie needs to learn more control. Kenny is just showing the organization is strong and in control. Ozzie will NOT be fired by KW or JR. Ozzie will NOT quit because of anythign KW says. Enough. This thread is silly. -
I guess we didn't, technically, win the World Series last year too. Since we beat that same inferior NL team. Shoota, please post more often!

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) Unless they changed it, yes there is a way. Did it a lot next year with some Soxtalkers. You own a time machine?!? Cool!

I saw one already this year. Opening day. We won 4 against Anaheim. 4 against Houston. 1 against Cleveland. 9.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) Somedays I miss being a teenager... Then I see threads like this and feel old Perhaps you could court her, inquire about her sister, and then we escort them to the ice cream social?
