The Official, "What I did today thread"
Woke up, got out of bed dragged a comb across my head. Found my way downstairs and drank a cup and looking up, I noticed I was late. Found my coat and grabbed my hat. Made the bus in seconds flat. Found my way upstairs and had a smoke. Somebody spoke and I went into a dream. That's about it.

2006 Sox = 2003 Sox?
QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) Of course there are differences between the two teams, but there are quite a few similarities. And if the 2006 squad fails down the stretch like the 2003 team did, that would likely seal the comparison. :headshake dear lord....It's almost like you're hoping they'll fail. Using that logic then the 2006 Sox would be like the 2004, 2002, 2001, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996, 1995..etc every team that failed to make the post season. QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) If anything, I think that the Tigers 06=Sox 03 They will choke if they make it to the playoffs, thats if they make it. Can you please explain further on this? What have they done besides have the best record team in MLB. have a great manager, and the best Team ERA makes you think they'll choke and not make the playoffs?

I'm finally off of the Podsednik bandwagon (long)
I want to make sure I got this right... Our leadoff man is bad. Our starting pitching is bad. Our SS is bad. Our CF is bad. Did I miss anything?

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 09:45 AM) Probably Dye because Vlad was voted in. So to avoid any kind of minor controversy, it might end up being that way. But if it were my choice, I'd put Dye in RF. Well...we're both wrong. Ozzie tabs Vernon Wells to start in CF. Vlad in LF and Ichiro in RF. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/allstar06/ne...tory?id=2515212 I was hoping one member of the 2005 World Series Champions would start.

TV Plot Shift?
QUOTE(farmteam @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) Has anyone noticed that a lot of new shows that are debuting are undergoing a "plot shift?" What I mean is, it used to be that a show would be based around a family, an agency, a school, a person, you know something like that. Lately, however, it seems that a lot of shows are based around single events (when I first see commercials for them, I usually think the material would be better suited for a movie). Recently, there have been ads for "Justice" centering around a group of lawyers defending someone in a case (note that it used to be a show would be about a group of lawyers handling different cases every show -- now, the entire series is about one case). Last year, Prison Break all centered around one event (wanna guess what it was?). Vanished is a show coming to Fox next fall about the missing wife of a senator. I realize that these shows go really in depth into the subject matter and all, but still, it revolves around a lone event. In short, is it just me, or are shows becoming centered around a single event, rather than a group of people and such? Two of the most popualr shows on TV are 24 and Lost. Copycat shows are bound to happen. Look at the influx of CSI-type shows in 2000 after that show became a hit. Speaking of the "one event' style shows, there was a GREAT show in the mid-90s called Murder One Its first season centered around one trail of an actor changed with Murder. Great, great drama. It didn't do well in the ratings. If you have a chance to check it out. Do it. I guess it was ahead of its time. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006GAO3...&v=glance&n=130

Did I hear......
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Maybe the Sox can flip Garland to the Cubs for Wood, I'd like to see Coop try to work his magic with Kid K, we could have an Ace for our staff right there. Sometimes Green isn't needed...

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 06:58 AM) From the Trib: While manager Ozzie Guillen won't make a final decision until Monday, he's leaning toward starting White Sox right fielder Jermaine Dye in place of Manny Ramirez in Tuesday's All-Star Game. Ramirez, Boston's elected starter, is skipping the game with a sore right knee, which didn't prevent him from playing 19 innings Sunday. I hope Dye gets the start but what a tool Manny is. Plays 19 innings but is apparently injured. Dye deserves the Start. He is leading all MLB outfielders in almost every major offensive catagory. That also gives Ozzie three RFs for the game. Ichiro can play CF easily, do who goes to LF?

Red Sox @ White Sox - July 8
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) At what point is it time to push the panic button? It has to be this month because after that there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Why do you need a panic button when you have the second best record in MLB?

Red Sox @ White Sox - July 8
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Then as I've said yesterday, Kenny is a horrible GM if he doesn't prioritize winning above all else. This staff isn't good enough to win a playoff series, and everybody can see that. We need another power arm in this rotation.

Satellite just keeps growing...
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:25 AM) Total personal pref. I can't stand the talking so I'd rather hear all music. I go from one extreme to the other as far as listening to music. Sometimes I buy a CD and love it so much it's all I listen to for weeks. Drives Jim nuts. LOL. We should start a "Grinder Rules-esque" list of "What Drives Jim Nuts" #99 Don't just play your CD...OVERplay it!

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 08:56 AM) That film has a LOT more female fans than male fans. Not sure why that is, but that is amazing to me. Because Christian Bale is dreamy

You guys are awesome
All I can say is this... If the other fans were truly "fans" they would have tried harder. But no one tries harder or works harder than White Sox fans!!

White Sox may be in trouble
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) Not to sound like a pessimist, but the O's are not the Royals, so he will probably get rocked. But I hope he doesn't. So, you are saying since the Os have a better hitting team, Vazquez will get rocked? Hmmm...explain that to Cleveland. He is 2-0 with a 1.53 era against them. But I'm glad you're not a pessimist.

Why vote for AJ?
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) I voted for him once. He's good. He could help the AL win the all-star game and have home field advantage for the world series. Not that AJ couldnt but. All i was saying is that I want AJ to win and i probably voted for him 50 times or so. BUT if he loses i want Lriano cause he's good. Until the game happens you don't know who you need more. An extra hitter or pitcher. So I side on the fact that AJ is a White Sox and I want him in there. I hope he doesn't lose by one vote... :rolly

Satellite just keeps growing...
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) Someone might get a kick out of this...I'm really bored at work today. Here is a an e-mail I sent to the Score...basically to see what kind of response I would get. My subject was 'My Favorite Score Programming'. It must be your non-stop commercials. I have been without my Sirius radio the last two days, and I have been stuck listening to terrestrial/horrible radio. My favorite is when you guys come back from a commercial, talk about an upcoming segment, do a live commercial, and then go back to recorded commercials. Nice work. I can't wait until Sirius finds a way a do some local sports talk, and I will never listen to your s***ty channels again. Tony I was thinkling the same thing today. I forgot my Sirius at home and I was driving to work and had to listen the Score. Commercial...commercial...commercial... I would love local programming from thr major markets. An all Chicago sports channel and even a New York/Boston sports channel...oh wait that's ESPN. Thank god for my Sirius and next week when Howard comes back from vacation.
