QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Dusty deserves blame for starting Glendon Rusch even though he's been horrible all year. Dusty has better options than Rusch. Who? You posed the problem implying there was a solution.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) haven't been to the speedway in joliet so don't know the sightlines and everything, but best location at a race usually depends on your personal preference of either wanting to be "up close and personal" to the action (probably won't be able to see 1/2-2/3 of the track but can better see the pits) or would like to see the entire track and therefore be higher up. Thanks! He'd want to see the pits in action.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) Thanks Ribbie. you guys can also feel free to sound off on what you thought on todays columnists I think what we are getting at is that the only the "number" of stories doesn't paint an accurate picture of Sox coverage. What does paint a more accurate portrait is the content (positive or negative), the size of articles, color pictures as opposed to no picutres, etc... Look at Sunday's 10-8 loss for instance. If someone would just look at the score, they would think "Oh the Sox lost in a slugfest". But if you go deeper into it, explore the box score, the content if you will, you's see the Sox put up an amazing 6 runs in the 9th and had the tying run at the plate! That's a great comeback and paints a different picture of the game. You then would understand their energy going into Texas and winning three out of four from a tough home team. It wouldn't seem like such a negative loss, after all. I think Hangar you should take more of these details into account when doing your media watches. I, personally, don't care about media coverage that much. But I think if you're going to do it...do it well.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) The Tribune today makes sure to throw Comcast "under the bus" today, heh heh regarding Comcast missing the big "story" after the game between Ozz and rookie Sean Tracey. The SunTimes is the big story in my eyes today. They give the SOX 7 stories, with every sportswriter on staff contributing ....... and the Sox are on the Road!!!! Awesome. But whats more important to note, is all of the stories today reflect something actually of interest to Sox fans, and not fluff. Fluff is fine, dont get me wrong, the SOX surely dont get enough of that. But there are actual angles by all of the writers today ......people are WORKING. How about that huh? The Sox make a big dent today, awesome. Chicago Tribune: 3 cub stories 6 sox stories Chicago SunTimes: 3 cub stories 7 sox stories Standings as of Friday June 16th, 2006 Priviledged, Media Owned, Media Favored, 4th Place in 2005 Cubs 590 Underdog, Media UnderCovered, World Series Champs in 05 Sox 498 Good job getting into what the Stories are about. That's just as important, if not more so, than the number of stories.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 07:59 AM) Steff accused me of being a cub fan, so I was being a wise guy (forgot to use green) and I told her, "your right, im busted, i just became a sox fan recently blah blah" I was kidding. Ive been a sox fan since day 1 My comment was also toungue-in-cheek

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) As for the "it aint broke" comments, my response is, "it's also not hitting on all cylinders." We're still a game and half behind Detroit. That MUCH?!? Boy this is NOT working! I mean I know we have the 2ns best record in the AL and we are hitting higher and scoring more runs than last year, but obviously this is the problem. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Jim Thome, after starting off on fire, has dropped to .277. Age is likely to start wearing him down, so don't expect his numbers to improve from here on out. So that BOMB to center was hit with a cane, eh?

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) Also, your math is bad again. RibbieRhubarb + zach 23 + zach61 + JimH. = 4. Not 2. Maybe we should combine the Zachs and create a SuperZach84!

This thread just makes me go:

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) Hangar, where do your total numbers go back to? He claims 2002, yet he admits he was a Cub until the end of 2003. So you figure out where the truth lies...

SOXTALK: Make a trade Kenny!! Make a trade Kenny!!! /Kenny makes a trade SOXTALK:Why did Kenny make that trade!?! Although there seems to be more of a positive spin from our side this time around.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) YES. I think its only fair. The Media BURIED the SOX in 03, and 04 with coverage for that other team, and they won NOTHING. The SOX actually win it all, and are still "losing" in coverage to that other team. A double standard exists and is exposed on a daily basis. IN all honesty, the Cubs did win their Division in 2003 and became the First Chicago Baseball team in loooong time to win a playoff series. Then they came a few innings from going to the World Series. Again the facts elude you. Obviously there was some excitement towards that team in 2003 and going into 2004.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 07:53 AM) http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix/the_h...ad_pagesix_.htm June 14, 2006 -- PARIS Hilton is so upset that Lindsay Lohan has been seeing her ex, Greek playboy Stavros Niarchos, she screamed insults at Lohan at Butter on Monday night. Witnesses report Hilton went up to Lohan and shouted, "I can't believe you and Stavros! You are ridiculous!" After taking more insults and curses, Lohan said, "That's how you say hello? I don't need to respond to you." Lohan promptly left. A rep for Lohan said, "Correct. Paris tried to pick a fight with her and started screaming at her, but Lindsay took the high road." After Lohan left, Hilton did a striptease for N.Y. Knick David Lee, Eli Manning and a bunch of other N.Y. Giants. OK... Lindsay, you are a good looking chick (now that you cut the blow and started eating again) but get a better diet honey. You do not need to be munching on Paris Hilton's sloppy seconds. And Paris... Good grief.. can you possibly be any more nasty..?Ick. Their parents must be so proud

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Is Red supposed to indicate half-seriousness? Because in that case, I agree wholeheartedly! I'm color-blind...I have no idea which one is green. :banghead

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) Haven't you heard? Maddux sucks -- he has for years now -- and he only stays alive because the umpires always give him the calls. Maddux sucks because he's a Cub...Thats why.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) I admit Crede's been a completely different hitter since coming of the DL late last season. I think criticism of his offense since that point is inappropriate. Wait Wait Wait... Critcism of Crede's hitting, who has never been a consistant hitter until late last season and this season, is inappropiate now. But his defense, which has been consistanly stellar, is up for criticism?

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Interesting. Its been a long long long time since I saw anything remotely about Attendance. Heres another interesting fact (Note that this WASNT played up in the media either) Last Wednesday, the SOX went over 1,000,000 people in Attendance (oops, A word) the fastest in Club History. Tells you 1. Just how far this team has come, 2. Sox Fans were always an untapped market and under-marketed before Congratulations White Sox Um...It was metioned in the White Sox notebook in last wednesday's Sun-times As my dad would say: If it had teeth it would have bit ya! But I guess that happens when you just count the articles and you don't read them.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) I read somewhere that parks that have Questec, are parks that Greg Maddux magically isnt that great in. Seems those pitches way outside arent called strikes anymore ....... any truth to that? Well, let's look at his average over the past three eyars during the Questec era in a few parks that have it. In Shea Staudium he has a 3.00 era In Minute Maid Park he has a 3.44 era In Miller Park he has a 2.77 era http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/spli...tching3&three=1 So, I don't know where you read that...but its wrong.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) I don't think he pissed (and I use that term loosely) anyone off until he refused to look at what they were looking at and questioned his methods. Mike even asked him to explain his logic. You get what you give... ^^ -

QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) No, and I've been here 2 days and I've seen more pointless Hangar bashing than I ever did at WSI. Grow up people. It's about the stupid excuses the media makes to cover the Cubs constantly. Everything they do is a "huge" story. Cell phones in the dugout? Big deal. Ozzie could call the bullpen on his US Cellular phone and call it "new technology". It's the same thing. (sarcasm-->)But you won't hear that because the Sox have no fans and the southside is full of gang bangers and there aren't enough bars around the park. ( Don't drink the kool-aid.
