In house options to replace BA...
RibbieRubarb replied to AngelasDaddy0427's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) SOXTALK: "Damn he sucks, my gramma has a better arm than that." "Rowand would have had that easily, I wish we still had him" "He's not that bad, I don't know why everyone is picking on him, the scouting report saids he has good range, and a plus arm" "What kind of moron are you? Any idiot can see that he can't throw to save his life" "KW needs to get a CF NOW!!!" "This team is HORRIBLE, we have to get our heads out of our asses NOW!!!" "Why not move Josh Fields to CF, or call up Jerry Owens?" "Lets trade for Torii Hunter or Darrin Erstad" -
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) I know we'll come around, it's just painful to watch the... inconsistency right now. Maybe that's what I should have said, and spared myself all the "sky is falling," "Chicken Little" abuse. NO abuse pal... It's cool to be upset, but I just try to keep things in perspective. They had an OK May, But there is planty of time to hit a hot streak. Every team goes through a bit of a slump, better now and being only 2.5 back than in September again and losing a 15 game lead. That was rough.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) Get some dominant bullpen help now. Thank you. I don't want to hear how difficult that is to acquire, it's your job. You haven't had anything more important to do since Spring Training, so get off your ass and deal. Politte is done, Jenks, Cotts and Thornton are only decent this year, and the rest of your bullpen isn't worth mention. I find it funny that some people really assume Kenny Williams is ignorant of the situation and is attempting nothing. It must be their first year following the team. :headshake

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) That's a great point. We always hear about the pushy Little League Dad living his life through his son, but the parents of spelling bee nerds are much more damaging to their kids' lives than the former. I think the extreme nature of both sides is equal. The agressive side of the "exteme sports parent" will focus on personal failure, failure towards your parents and extreme disrespect towards others. It often stems from the parent's own failure as an athletic youth. It's a bullying attitude. I don't see the "Bee" parents yelling at their children or other children in public, throwing items on stage, or getting into fights with pother parents. But the extreme "Bee" parents, who have a reckless drive to succeed, do have a negative emotional impact on their children.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Who is accepting it? We all know damn well Kenny isn't... It's June... No one is making any trades until late June or early July except teams waaaaay out of it.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) PLUSHIE PATROL!!!!

I remember a team that blew a 15 game lead in in a month and a half while another team was playing great baseball chasing us... I beleive the quotes from that time were... "Our bullpen sucks!" "Great job Kenny...not making any trades!" "No way we win this division" "Even if we win we won't go far in the playoffs" That slumping team went on to turn it around and win it ALL. Now...It's June. We are only 2.5 games back. But all history has taught the majority of you is: That we should start trading prime prospects for middle relief Josh Fields can play LF now Last year was a fluke for our relievers but Detroit's young pitchers are the real deal And you wish we had Luis Vizcaino back (Takes some of SS2k5's popcorn) This is funny.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) That is wrong on so many levels... Oasis was all right, but 2 in the top 10 of all time, puleeze. What "Sands my Crotch" is outside the Abbey Road studios a obscene number of people have begun to write Oasis tributes across the sidewalks and gates. :headshake

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) I'm pretty sure C.C. has been the best pitcher in baseball since he came off the DL. We are just a couple games off our 2005 pace. If the Tigers were like they were last year NO ONE would be complaining. But we have competition this year so it's the 2006 edition of:

Hangar18's Chicago NewsMedia Watch Thread

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) Question. Whats the Bigger sports story in Chicago Illinois? A: The SOX who are 1.5 games out of 1st Place? OR B: The Cubs who are 1.5 games out of Last Place? If you said B, you would be correct, unfortuneately. The SOX find themselves with the dubious distinction of being Champions of the baseball world, but Cellar Dwellars in regards to Media Coverage. Im sure everyone knows that other team is owned by the Tribune, which owns other newspapers and tv stations and radio stations around the country, so that pretty much explains it. Chris DeLuca does a story today, and instead of telling everyone to HANG ON, the SOX are only 1.5 games out and they can take the lead and the division soon enough, INSTEAD decides to tell everyone to HANG ON, the other team is only 13.5 games out, and they can take the lead and the division soon enough. The White SOX, despite Winning the World Series in 2005, and being only the 5th team in MLB history to lead from wire-to-wire, find themselves INEXPLICABLY lagging in attention from the Media, to a team that is currently as close to last place as the SOX are to 1st Place. ridiculous. Chicago Tribune: 4 cub stories 3 sox stories Chicago SunTimes: 6 cub stories 3 sox stories Standings as of Thursday June 1st, 2006 Priviledged, Media Owned, Media Favored, 4th place in 2005 Cubs 507 Underdogs in Chicago, Media Ignored, WS Champions in 2005 SOX 414 If I dropped a box of toothpicks could you tell me how many were spread out on the floor, instantly? -

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) Media Attention is very important for a baseball team, especially one in a two team city. That other team is somehow known the world over, for simply, being BAD? Were the Champions, and were going to make sure the SOX get their due. The Deserve It. I remember last fall an entire network (FOX) devoted their post-season coverage to our team. We've gotten our due...you need to get over it. I guess some people hate the Cubs more than they love the Sox -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) Oh my.. was that man was having a seizure...? If he was, I'm sure someone in that neighborhood would find something to shove in his mouth... That is awful I should be ashamed for writing that... and ashamed...I am. :headshake

Well...At least they're on the right track?? Maybe?? Enjoy. (sound is out of sych) Supposedly after their protest they went in and enjoyed the game.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:28 AM) To be honest, there was no Sox fan doing anything nearly this funny or creative until the Palehose Six emerged from the briney fogs. I still think she is hilarious dispite the fact she hates the Sox. My thoughts exactly. She is a creative and talneted writer. to you for the use of "briney fogs"

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 30, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) Well said Dixie. Cuck is seriously an embarassment to Sox fans everywhere. Actually I think he's more of a Cub fan than a Sox fan so they can take the embarassment.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) Well said. As long as there's beer and hot chicks, the fans will come. And I f***ing hate their fans as well. I want to knock the s*** out of someone when I see them wearing a Cubs hat and shirt. Me thinks he doth protest to much...

I find these judgements fair. AJ's fine was obviously for his actions after the incident. I'm sure it's not a huge amount.
