QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Hey now JPN has another prospect to watch! Awww, that's why my nose was itching, you were thinking of me. At least now I'll have something to write about for the next couple of weeks.

While I agree with him in regards to Mariotti, he needs to go.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) Mine is Taylor Swift. There, I said it. Blaqk Audio.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 10:25 PM) If I had to bank, something the AA pitching coach saw mechanically and tweaked it. He probably got away with it in Kanny, but when he reached W-S, it was more exposed. Also has helped his control which is evident of his SO:BB ratio. Can't even blame the park either. He's pitching better away (though a small sample thus far) than he has at home. Viciedo 1-14, 5 SO since being sent back down. J.R. Perdew is the man, I need to do an interview with him sometime.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) Charlotte game - Jordan Danks playing 2nd base?? WTF??? Cortez got ejected, Rodriguez is apparently unavailable after getting plunked on the 10th, and Flowers and Danks were the only guys on the bench that could go in for Cortez.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 11:14 AM) ...and here I am with my pant around my ankles with this look like "what the hell just happened?" Isn't that a common occurance with you?

MLB 2K8 is the closest thing you can find to MVP 2005. I still play MLB 2K8, in my third year running a parallel franchise to the real life White Sox. I have the injuries turned off, but have the option to force trades turned on. So, when someone gets hurt for real, and I don't have room on one of the minor league rosters, I can trade them to another team until they are active again. Jake Peavy is with the Padres until he's healthy again, I had Teahen with Pittsburgh until he began his rehab. I had to create Vizquel, Threets and Aquino because they had all retired on the game. So did Thome.

Watch the first 20 minutes of "Bruno." Plus, the naked dude wrestling from "Borat."

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 08:36 AM) Taking the wife to see "Eat, Pray, Love", tonight. Hoping to eat up a solid dinner beforehand, praying that the movie is ok, and gonna get some sweet lovin' out of this. Well...?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 08:14 PM) The problem with Eat, Pray, Love is simply that there's very little conflict in the story. Unless you define conflict as Liz Gilbert's "inner unhappiness" and lack of contentment. I also think it's close to impossible to express mystical/spirital experiences (the Indian ashram part) without seeming hokey cinematically. A co-worker kept on talking so much about this book that I basically agreed to read it in order to get her to stop raving about it...it wasn't horrible, but the middle section (maybe because I'm just not into meditating at all, although I am going to Mount Everest in two months if that counts) was so boring I skipped over it entirely. If you enjoy travelling, it's probably watchable, but more of a DVD/netflix movie and not worth the ticket price, unless you absolutely miss seeing Julia Roberts leading a movie after so long. Chick flick = nor real conflict.

I think Eminem is way overrated. But, with most rap music, it doesn't have much of a shelf life. There isn't a lot that will stand the test of time. Plus, it ends up having a flavor of the moment quality to it. Most of it is very dated, even the true classics like "The Chronic" and "Doggystyle" to name a few. I appreciate Kanye's attempt to at least be somewhat innovative and maybe make a song that will be remembered in 10 years. He may be an ass, but he is a complex dude. I was impressed to hear a sample from a prog rock song from 1969 in one of his songs. I'm a King Crimson fan, but even I knew that was digging deep and not many people would catch that. Plus, it's nice to have something different from the standard "gangsta" posturing and braggadocio.

Luis Rodriguez has missed 5 games after getting plunked in his first at bat on the 10th.
-
QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) OHHH how I wish this were true, it is not! The recap said it was Chase, but in all actuality, it was J.D. Ashbrook. I love Chase and I love when he does well, but I don't think he should be getting credit for J.D.'s accomplishments, neither does he. How do I go about letting someone know the recap is wrong and needs to be changed? How does that even happen?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) Has he recovered at all in the 2nd half? If Tyler can hit .250 with his power and ability to draw walks, would most be happy with him starting in 2011?

Fangraphs Spotlights Breakout Year for Journeyman

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) Unless he can play 3B, he's blocked by Lillibridge, Beckham, Ramirez, Teahen, Vizquel and Viciedo. I guess it depends if Vizquel returns in 2011 and if Lillibridge can sustain his hitting, because he brings a lot to the team as a pinch-runner. It's still a big question who plays 3B next year. He can play third. Too bad he got plunked the other day and has missed the past 3 games for Charlotte. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) Courtesy of Cracked.com... Animaniacs was a kids' show kind of but not really. This is about the most blatant dirty joke I've ever seen in a cartoon that wasn't intentionally (ostensibly anyway) intended for grown-ups. That was a brilliant show, I remember it fondly from my childhood. Closest thing to classic Looney Toons that you can find.
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) Hopefully in the off-season he can shorten his swing up some and become a legit prospect, seems like he'd be a nice backup catcher if he could contribute even a little with the bat. Seems to always come through in the clutch.

Bren's boy with another clutch bomb.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) What the hell happened to Retherford this season? Yikes. Pod person.
-
QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) You're so fibbing!!? LOL Nope, that was my first thought, 1-0 Bristol, Chase must have driven in that run. Then I checked and saw he hit a bomb.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) JPN, did you ever do an AAP write up on Brent Morel while at Birmingham? Kid is sure scrappy and although he is 0-4 tonite he is above .300 and playing good solid D. Do you see a lot of upside and him cracking any top 100 prospect list next year (Especially after hitting well in AAA)? All this with a bad shoulder. I'm sure someone else has him as their AAP. He's definitely an impressive contact hitter and a vacuum at third base. He has a bright future in the majors and should be in many top 100 lists. I only got to see 2 months worth of him though.

QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Only run scored in the Bristol @ Burlington game was a HR by muh boy, Blackwood. Defensively he had 1 base stolen against him and 2 CS. Great job by Robert Young and Kevin Moran!! I saw the score and I thought, Chase must've gotten that RBI. Then I checked the box and was right.
