QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) He absolutely raves about both Gio and Jack. He's also been really helpful for us. Paul definitely goes above and beyond. -

QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) And he can pitch... tonight's line: 7 IP, 3 H, 8 K, 0 R, and the W. No decision, Oneli Perez got the win. -

QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) JPB366, did you just meet him or something? I'm a Barons season ticket holder. On pace to see 60 out of 70 home games. I'm at 55 currently with five games left against Huntsville. I talk to Gio fairly regularly. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) The Barons Media guy has said that Gio might be the nicest kid he's ever met. Mr. Paul Kennedy is spot on. Paul does a hell of a job himself. -

QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 02:31 AM) Haven't Egbert and Getz been bright spots as well? Egbert, on the field, yes. Getz has missed 60+ games with a knee contusion. -
He comes up to YOU and shakes YOUR hand and asks YOU how YOU are, he helps people who's car has broken down, he tips his cap to the fans, he'll sign a million autographs, he's extremely polite and friendly, he has no ego whatsoever, he's the only bright spot for the Birmingham Barons all year. If you ever get the chance to meet him, you'll see what I mean. He deserves all the success in the world. Class act is not strong enough description.

And, he is the nicest guy ever.

Birmingham won 10-6. McCulloch: 5 IP, 5 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 6 K F. Hernandez: W, 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 4 K Getz: 3-5 (all singles) Mercedes: 2-4, R, HR (GS), 5 RBI D'Oh! I walked out of this game too early. I've missed both of Mercedes' walk off homers.

Barons won 6-3 Cook 1-2, RBI, R, 3 BB, CS Malone 6 IP, 3 R Russell IP, K Hernandez IP, K Oneli IP, K, 2 H Saw Aaron Cunningham play for the first time (with Mobile). Got his sig before the game and told him I hated it he wasn't playing for the Barons and wished him good luck, real nice kid. He proceeded to hit a homerun and a triple in the game. Made the White Sox look bad for trading him. All while hitting ninth.

Anybody know what jersey number Masset is wearing with Charlotte? It's for the Knights Wikipedia page.

Is that a pic of Collaro's or Bourgeois' gear, Jim?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) Mabee needs to get sent to Kanny ASAP, he's thrown 13 scoreless now at GF with a GO/AO of 11.50 and .111 average against him. Also, what the hell got into David Cook? He was having a nice year at W-S, but the man is on fire. He's 26 which is a damn shame though, but it's hard to ignore his power and ability to draw walks, 2 things this system is lacking right now badly. I'd hope and assume Cook starts at Charlotte next year and we see how it goes. Also, McCulloch was good for B-Ham (6 IP, 4 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, 3 k's 8/6 GO/AO, win) and Cook's official game was this: home run, hit by pitch, single, walk, walk, outfield assist on defense. Hey, he is 2 years younger than Ankiel and doesn't have the traumatic past of pitching disaster...Also, Sisco pitching well against a 1st place team but lost, and Richard pitched well but went against a guy that almost threw a perfect game tonight, so yeah he lost too. Ely got the crap kicked outta him. I hope Cook is in B'ham next year.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 08:14 AM) I'm becoming intrigued by his performance this year. I've never seen him play but I'm beginning to wonder if this kid could become a good roster filler for the Sox. It seems to me that he might be in the mold of a Theriot or Fontenot like the cubs have. Must be something about those French names. Anyway, I'd like to know who has seen him play? It appears that he can play 2b, SS and CF. I don't know how good his defense is but he can hit and get on base, has a little pop and can clearly steal bases. He's young and durable. Could he replace Ozuna ? Is he a good bunter ? I'd love to see him on the Sox for a few games . Anyone think he'll get the chance ? Saw him play a lot in B'ham the first two months of the season. Clutch hitter late in games. Three game winning hits in the first month of the season. Fast as hell. Above average defensively at second and third. Very good in the outfield. Short and a little stocky. A slight temper, but not too much. All around good ballplayer.

Well, it's actually "retirement," not retirement. Apparently Kris just wanted out of the White Sox organization. They do not intend to stand in his way of continuing his career with another organization.

Anybody know where I can get one of these card sets or knows what players are in it?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) P John Wesley promoted to Double-A Birmingham. P Fautino De Los Santos received from Low-A Kannapolis. Aww, fudge...
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) I can confirm it. They do have a open roster spot, as does B'ham. Perhaps Schnur to B'ham!? He was pulled from the game after only three at bats.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 08:57 AM) to be honest, I'd probably promote both Schnur and Carter to AA, Schnur to play 3B and Carter to play 1B. Brilliant! Watching Chris Kelly try to play third base is agony, he goes out of his way not to get dirty or make much of an effort. Plus he's a jerk and if it was possible, could strikeout on two pitches.
-
QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Does anyone know? I don't see that he's in anybody's organization. I'm just curious. Playing for the Quebec Capitales in the CanAm League.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) speaking of promotions, I'd like to see Schnur promoted to AA and Carter up to W-S. The fans in B'ham demand the Schnur!
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 07:39 AM) This article details some more personnel moves... --Ricks is going back to W-S today after spot duty with Charlotte --Kyle McCulloch (SP), Cole Armstrong © and David Cook (OF) are all being promoted to Birmingham (AA) The latter set of moves seems to confirm earlier rumors that Lucy and Collaro are being promoted to Charlotte (AAA), but the starting pitching move indicates that maybe one of the B-Ham starters is going to Charlotte as well (perhaps Eggy? Heads, are you there?). McCulloch will be filling a hole in the Barons rotation. Haeger was sent back down to Charlotte, so he should fill the hole in their roation.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:33 PM) hopefully Gio... but if it was up to me, both of them would be headed up. Neither, McCulloch is filling a hole in the Barons rotation.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 08:36 PM) Its pretty bad when Cole Armstrong passes you on the depth chart... I wonder who Molina pissed off? Sounds like my wife. That's what she thinks when something like this happens.

Good luck getting any info from the Knights Media Relations guy. He won't even bother to type just a jersey number in an e-mail reply.
