  1. QUOTE(scenario @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 12:19 AM) http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ilb&cid=580 Pitchers Richard Brooks Israel Chirino Matt Davis Michael Dubee Justin Edwards John Ely Matthew Long Aaron Poreda Jacob Rasner Noe Rodriguez Ryan Rote Steven Spurgeon Kanekoa Texeira Catchers Francisco Hernandez Billy Killian Adam Ricks Infielders Brandon Allen, 1B Javier Colina, 2B C.J. Lang, SS Sergio Miranda, SS C.J. Retherford, 3B John Shelby, 2B Outfielders Lee Cruz Anderson Gomes Paulo Orlando Salvador Sanchez I think Javier Colina will start at third base. Just a hunch. You don't have a 29 year old at high A ball to ride the bench.
  2. QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah he's in Charlotte, the MiLB site hasn't fully updated the rosters. Probably will in the next few days. http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/1098930 Charlotte & Birmingham play their first game tomorrow...seems like he should have a destination by now.
  3. I'm wondering the same thing. He should be on Charlotte's roster. They didn't cut him, he's one of their top prospects. And, they didn't trade him either. Excited about opening night, Jason? You still got your tickets?
  4. I've seen him play in person. He's a jerk with a bad attitude. He was originally in the Pirates organization and they didn't want him.
  5. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:37 AM) I thought Omogrosso did well as a starter. I'm surprised that he's not in the rotation. I just got an e-mail from the Media Relations guy for the Barons, Omogrosso will be starting and Derek Rodriguez will be pitching in relief.
  6. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:37 AM) I thought Omogrosso did well as a starter. I'm surprised that he's not in the rotation. It's still possible, those are just my educated guesses. Cassel, McCulloch, Richard & Rodriguez were all starters at Winston-Salem last year. Harrell was a starter before he had arm surgery last year. I imagine Harrell will be brought along slowly this year, so some of his starts could go to Omogrosso or Zaleski. Both of whom made starts last year and pitched in relief, thus why I suggested that they will be the Barons swingmen.
  7. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 08:15 AM) Hey BTW, where did you get this info? They still have last year's roster on the site. Barons.com under roster, the jersey numbers are posted now too. Originally posted on the AL.com website under sports, under Birmingham Barons. I'm a season ticket holder, so I'm looking forward to the season too. The Schnur is back!
  8. QUOTE(scenario @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) What about Daron Roberts, CJ Lang, and Paulo Orlando? They were starting players at Winston-Salem last year. Where did they go? Roberts was taken in the Rule 5 draft, Orlando probably will be repeating Winston-Salem and Lang probably will never play above A ball.
  9. Probable depth chart... C- Cole Armstrong / Jared Price / Eric Hollis 1B- Micah Schnurstein / Eric Hollis 2B- Victor Mercedes / Robbie Hudson 3B- Javier Castillo / Robbie Hudson SS- Robert Valido / Robbie Hudson CF- Ricardo Nanita / Miguel Negron RF- David Cook or Noah Hall or Stefan Gartrell LF- David Cook or Noah Hall or Stefan Gartrell DH- David Cook or Noah Hall or Stefan Gartrell Probable staring rotation... Kyle McCulloch Derek Rodriguez Clayton Richard Lucas Harrell Justin Cassel Probable bullpen... Closer- John Lujan 8th- Jon Link Long / Swingman- Matt Zaleski Long / Swingman- Brian Omogrosso Lefty Specialist- Joseph Torres Middle- Carlos Torres Middle- Clevelan Santeliz
  10. Pitchers: Justin Cassel, Lucas Harrell, Jon Link, John Lujan, Kyle McCulloch, Brian Omogrosso, Clayton Richard, Derek Rodriguez, Clevelan Santeliz, Carlos Torres, Joseph Torres, Matt Zaleski Catchers: Cole Armstrong, Eric Hollis, Jared Price Infielders: Javier Castillo, Robert Hudson, Victor Mercedes, Micah Schnurstein, Robert Valido Outfielders: David Cook, Stefan Gartrell, Noah Hall, Ricardo Nanita, Miguel Negron
  11. I see your point, but I disagree to some extent. Before MLB.com & MiLB.com, I had to rely on Baseball Weekly, which was a week behind. ESPN, Turner & WGN were the only source of current information.
  12. QUOTE(juddling @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) i think the same was said when Royce Ring was traded. He then went on to be traded 3 or 4 more times that season IIRC. Sox traded him twice in the last few years and Phillies got him and gave him back so mabye his sh*t isn't as good as everyone thinks it is. I watched him pitch for an entire season. He's capable of dominating with just his fastball. He's good, it will come back to haunt the White Sox.
  13. Gio is the nicest guy ever, period. Plus, a great pitcher. I like Nick Swisher a lot, but you guys will regret losing Gio down the line. Now, how many guys from the White Sox system last year are now in Oakland's system? 9? 10?
  14. They signed Jeremy Frost from the St. Paul Saints before last season and he played fairly well for the Barons. Metheny will probably be at B'ham in 2008. That's much better than that clown Chris Kelly.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) Yeah, there's not a chance in hell we'd get Lincecum or Cain for PK. I really hope it's not something stupid like Winn and a prospect for Konerko. Randy Winn!? Brilliant! That sounds like a guy Williams would trade a top prospect for. That would definitely go to the top of the list of bad trade ideas Kenny Williams could think of. No matter who he traded for him. I can already see it now...Egbert and Fields for Winn.
  16. QUOTE(Calderon @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 08:59 AM) From today's USA Today: OAKLAND ATHLETICS-Assigned LHP Jay Marshall outright to Sacramento (PCL). Agreed to terms with LHP Ryan Wing on minor league contract. Hell of a nice guy too.
  17. QUOTE(scenario @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Nah, I think they'll want to see how Micah hits in Birmingham before jumping him up a level. I wonder if Collaro might be an option to move to 1B. Hmmm... Well, Micah should have been in B'ham in 2007, don't know why he was demoted. Collaro is actually competent in RF. He would probably be a butcher at 1B.
  18. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 07:22 PM) Who moves to 1B in Charlotte? Schnurstein? Probably. Makes perfect sense (sarcasm). Birmingham in 2006, Winston-Salem in 2007, Charlotte in 2008. It's the f'ing hokey pokey.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) BTW, in 5 years, there is a good chance only the most hardcore Sox fans will remember Brian Anderson, but it's amazing the domino effect he has had on this franchise. The Brian Anderson situation has cost, or will cost this franchise 20+ million to correct(FA addition, along with Vazquez) Don't forget, he also made Chris Young expendable. D'oh!
  20. The Schnur is safe...for now.
  21. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) Just a few years back, we had Maggs, Carlos Lee and Rowand starting for us....with Carl Everett and Jermaine Dye and Scotty Pod soon joining us too.....and if there was one position that was stocked in our minor league system, it was the OF position with Sweeney, Anderson, Borchard, Owens, Chris Young etc How the heck did we get to this point where now we are screwed at the OF position ad hoping that Carlos Quentin can be our saviour????? Anyone else find this mind boggling? Sorry if this sounds like a useless post, but this has been bothering me the past 2 days or so....how did our strength become such a weakness? Don't you mean "mind bottling?"
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) If he's a backup, fine. Otherwise, if you're thinking of him as a starter, then that means you think Quentin isn't ready, and if that's the case, then the Carter/Quentin trade was moronic. The Carter/Quentin trade was moronic to begin with.
