2012 Book Thread
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 12:00 AM) I enjoyed all 5 of them. However the 4th and 5th are SSSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW. A Storm of Swords was one of the top 5 books I read last year. Would you cough up $45 for all 5 digitally though? I'm not a big fantasy epic reader, but I liked the series on TV.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 07:23 AM) Besides some snow, Chicago is a pretty ideal location to avoid most things. I f***ing hate snow, otherwise I'd love to live up there. I've enjoyed it both times I went.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) Well, according to press reports, yesterday will go down as the biggest outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded in the month of March. Which means, in a period of 11 months, any of us in the South/south central US have gone through the biggest single day of tornadoes ever in March, and the biggest single day of tornadoes ever recorded in April...and one of those was the single biggest ever. Lousy Smarch weather. Hoping for a good long reprieve.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) He's played his F&LiLV Thompson character in just about every movie for a while now. I mean, he's copying from dress to behaviour to the smoking to the craziness. I know they were friends, but I don't think Thompson told him to emulate him. Maybe Depp will commit suicide too.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) They're going to have some drought problems over the next 50 years. Tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, snow, Catholics and Mormons are worse than drought. Besides, myself, my wife, my son and my dog all have allergies and I know for a fact from living in Utah for 2 1/2 years that an arid climate is preferable to where we are now.

I'm still as scared and still have nightmares about tornadoes at 31 as I did as a child. For what it's worth, this past year has been exceptionally heavy on severe weather. I never thought that I would see in my lifetime so many large tornadoes hit near Birmingham. It's just not flat enough at all.

Everybody stay safe in southern Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. Looks bad again today. Waiting on severe weather to come and pass is like having a gun to your head. Ugh. Alabama is in the line of fire as well. By the way, the chick on the Weather Channel right now, Crystal Egger, is smoking hot.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 08:10 AM) I'm trying to figure out whether the original post was referencing that or not... Yeah, in that episode, one of the characters makes a movie that is 4 hours long, about the Holocaust, the main character is a mentally retarded kid that's alcoholic and he has a puppy with cancer. And at the end, he hugs Hermann Goring. The title of the movie is the main character's name, "Oscar Gold."
