QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Tank just walked for the 2nd time today to lead off the 9th, then STOLE 2B and scored the tying run. There's your leadoff man Ozzie. It's SO obvious. Now if he got caught stealing, that would get Ozzie's attention.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) It's hard to believe that after close to 100 games, the team's management (manager and GM) appear content to stay with the same group of struggling players, game after game, and watch the same tired result. Adam Dunn should be on the bench for the rest of the season. That's who Viceido should be playing for. The White Sox annually make the fewest roster tweaks of any team in the league. From the point when Milledge was DFA'd and Gray was called up, until Gray was DFA'd and Peavy was activated, a whole month, there were no roster changes at all. Same 25 guys for a whole month, a month when the White Sox looked awful.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) He only had a .933 ops last year and a 1.006 ops this year in AAA, not to mention a near-.800 OPS in the bigs last year. We needed Tony Pena, and trader Kenny got him. I don't think Allen will be some amazing 40 homer bat, but I'd rather have a bag of golfballs than Tony Pena. You forgot the green in the first part.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) I'll beat everyone else to it: Brandon Allen has homered in each of his last two games for ARI.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) I'm making this its own topic for more people to see. Yay! I feel special.

First the joke..."Ozzie decide when he ready." Morel has options, so it's easy to send him down. Gallagher moves to right, McPherson moves to first and Morel plays third in Charlotte. You trade Pierre while he's hot. You let Lillibridge and Teahen platoon at third. Viciedo fits in the lineup just fine if you do all those things. Lillibridge leads off when he plays, maybe you try Ramirez or Beckham in the top spot. Oh...and you fire Ozzie.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Walk? 2 balls, 2 strikes. Lindsay finished off the BB for him.

Tony Pena's rehabbing again. He came in, threw 4 pitches, then was removed.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) I know but it's such a hilariously absurd situation. Every time he's on the screen I ask my wife "Why does he still live with Larry" and giggle. I think Larry likes him and likes having him around, even though Leon knows all his personal stuff. He can ask him questions about black people.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) I think Teahen is being put out there to raise any value he may have in a trade. The Brewers are looking for a 3B and Teahen is good enough to play in the National League everyday. If Marcum is out long term I could see Teahen going with Jackson. They have Kotsay and Andy Gonzalez is on their AAA team...there's your return. Counsell too, you get back Counsell.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) A name that we've been linked to in the past that I could see KW acquiring for next season to play LF is Conor Jackson. That's horrible.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) Fyi, JPN has seen these guys play on a daily basis. The people writing the scouting reports come down for a weekend series if that and make that statement, most of it just restating what they knew about the kid from the draft than what they actually see with their eyes. Thank you. Most of the scouts are only there for a game or two. But I guess a thumbnail sketch carries more weight than that of someone who's there frequently. I believe it was Hector Santiago who said he didn't have to shake off Phegley once during the 8 shutout innings he threw on May 31st.

I simply drew the obvious conclusion from seeing a guy have trouble catching flyballs in the infield. Didn't exactly scream future adequate outfielder with good vision. He never made any boneheaded errors at third.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) Why does Leon still freeload off of Larry? LOL Because he lets him.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) I seriously meant to post this last night. The first two episodes this year have been far funnier than any of the episodes last season. I was laughing so hard at the latest one. I just hope the next 8 episodes are as good. If they keep this up, it could be the funniest season of them all. I'm glad there isn't any season story arc this year.

QUOTE (shlammajamma @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) You also thought dayan would stay at 3rd base if he got glasses. sorry, ill take a profession scouts opinion. I didn't think he'd do well as an outfielder, but I was wrong. I also said corrective lenses, and he may be wearing contact lenses. Of course, his bat is his biggest draw, so his position is irrelevant.

Curb has been awesome so far. I laughed during the whole visit to the women's safe house scene.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) I certainly read what you wrote. I just don't put much stock in it. Generalized statements such as "pitchers like throwing to him" do not negate his defensive faults. It matters to the organization. Teams want a catcher who works well with pitchers, that's what most important from the catching position.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:02 AM) I haven't heard many scouts that think Phegley will be able to remain at catcher. His defense has been the knock since drafted. Though of course it doesn't really matter if he continues to not hit. I don't know much about Sabermetrics, but even I know you don't live and die by scouting info this day and age. Did you just completely ignore what I wrote? I'll make it more simple...pitchers like throwing to him, he calls a good game. I have watched him play a lot and I haven't been overly concerned about what I saw.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) I don't get it. Bullpen help? We're going to give away a prospect for something we can address via our minors? Classic KW White Sox move. You know that, Marko.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:38 AM) I wish Phegley was actually a decent catcher. By all accounts he's pretty awful behind the plate. No he's not. He did well from what I saw of him. The only concern would be passed balls, but that's easy to work on. The pitchers seem to like his game calling.
