QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 03:01 PM) Good win Heads, i was watching...you guys still suck Battle for first place on Wednesday.... Alex Thompson had a great game today. I thought we played better today than we did against Missouri, but struggled against a weaker team.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 17, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) I just want to say...thank you Iowa...for beating a top 10 team. It is going to be a long, ugly season, but Lickliter is getting the most out of these guys and they continue to get better, especially on the defensive side. It was also nice getting Freeman back because it gives Iowa one other offensive weapon (Justin Johnson being the other). Lick's good stuff. This weekend's Big 12 slate: Saturday, January 19 Oklahoma State at Iowa State (ESPN Plus) 12:30 p.m. Texas A&M at Kansas State (ESPN) 3:00 p.m. Texas Tech at Oklahoma (ESPN Plus) 3:00 p.m. Baylor at Nebraska (ESPN Plus) 5:00 p.m. Colorado at Texas (ESPN Plus) 7:00 p.m. Kansas at Missouri (ESPNU) 7:00 p.m. Going down the slate, I'm going to be kind of disappointed if ISU can't beat an Okie State team that looks like crap so far. aTm at KSU should be interesting to watch. The Tech loss for aTm not withstanding, it should give us a better bearing on KSU. Tech at Oklahoma will also give us a better read on Oklahoma. I fully expect Baylor to win in Lincoln. Colorado will get utterly destroyed, and I expect a hot start out of Mizzou before succumbing to the greatest player of our generation, Darnell Jackson. Here's me ranking the Big 12 at the moment: 1. Kansas 2. Texas A&M 3. Texas 4. Baylor 5. Kansas State 6. Missouri ? 7. Oklahoma ? 8. Iowa State ? 9. Texas Tech ? 10. Oklahoma State ? 11. Nebraska 12. Colorado After the top 5, I have no guesses. Kansas is Kansas. I gave aTm the second spot due to Texas' more recent slipups. Baylor looks decentish right now. KSU may or may not show up on any given night. Missouri just lost to ISU, making it harder to put them any higher, Oklahoma just got beat down by KU and had a weak noncon slate, ISU started ungodly slow, but is playing better as of late, and almost beat Baylor, Tech just beat aTm, but they've also proved they can really suck a lot. Oklahoma State isn't good. Nebraska doesn't look so hot playing Division 1 teams, while Colorado gets the #12 spot for the rest of the season. Am I overrating ISU at #8 right now? After 5, the conference is EXTREMELY muddled until I got to 11 and 12, and even then, you could make arguments for a team like OSU at 11.

Iowa State is losing football commitments at a staggering rate. Dropped 3 or so the last 3 weeks.

So last night was honestly as good as I've seen ISU play as a team all year. Save the 1-16 performance from behind the arc, the shot selection was generally good, scoring was very balanced and only 10 turnovers against Missouri. The game was also at our pace, not theirs. That looked more like a middle of the pack conference team than a cellar dweller, and it gives me good vibes for our game against Okie State.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 16, 2008 -> 03:30 AM) Dead wrong, a KU win gets you an awesome boost to your resume. Iowa State should be a given win, sorry heads. No offense taken. It's been years since we've been relevant.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 15, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) Dont forget the ISU game is a trap game for Missery, they play KU on saturday. We need to hold serve against them at home. I'm really targeting the NIT this year. That's most definitely a winnable game, as is Saturday's game against Okie State. Then we head to face you guys, when we'll likely go down by 40. I've got no delusions of us competing at the Phog, but I expect to somewhat challenge you guys in Ames.

You know, if Dungy decides to retire, I'm cool with it. He brought us a Super Bowl, and he's done everything with class for the organization. If he decides he needs to step down, I'll be disappointed, but thankful for what he did.

Thoughts on the Big 12/ISU. Augustin disappointed me when I watched him at Mizzou. Certainly didn't look like the best player in the conference. Kansas looks as good as I've ever seen them. No worse than 14-2 in conference. I really hope we can get 'em in Hilton. Almost happened last year. Still the single biggest game of the year for us. Baylor didn't look too awesome against Iowa State. I hope that means we're decent. Craig Brackins looked like a FREAK. 33 pts, including 8 of 10 3's is pretty good for a 6-10 guy. Too bad he can't bang down low yet. Tomorrow night's game is going to be interesting. Mizzou's 40 minutes of something or other against ISU's take the air out of ball. That may reveal a bit about each team. Frank Martin looks like a douche.
